First of all, our waiter, Jamal was exceptional! Very friendly, accommodating, patient, and he was charming and informative, too!!! We had 2 birthday gals in our party, so he arranged for Chef Paul to come out and talk with us, bringing us each a glass of champagne and passion fruit - yum! The food was excellent, as usual - we all got something different and topped it off with a huge piece of
Sticky Toffee topped Cheesecake to share. We had a delightful time and will be back!
I absolutely love this place. There has never been a dish that I have tried that has not been awesome. The wait staff is incredible and always makes you feel like a valued customer.
Bobbe was amazing! Thank you guys for making prom even better than before!
I enjoyed the restaurant tremendously the wait staff was extremely friendly and timely the food was excellent and we even had a chance to meet chef Paul who is a gem. He came to our table sat with us for a few minutes and though he was extremely busy made us feel like we've been coming to the restaurant forever I highly recommend this restaurant.
We met the chef! He took the time to talk to us and other patrons. Food was excellent- Chilean sea bass. We loved it
We always have an awesome time at Peli Peli Vintage. The food is fabulous and the service can't be beat. I love bringing a group to dine there.
I love going to Peli Peli. The food is always amazing and cooked to perfection. The only issue was the temperature of the restaurant; it was very warm. Thankfully, I was sitting right next to the door to the party room, which was freezing cold, so every time the door opened, I received a lovely breeze which made everything better.
Good food and service, as we've come to expect. However, the visit was for a Birthday celebration, which was noted in the Open Table reservation. In the past, the restaurant has been so kind as to bring a complimentary dessert for a birthday celebration. Didn't happen this time. Assume the ball got dropped on that one. Otherwise, a pleasant dining experience.
We've dined at Peli Peli several times and we enjoy the food.... but the wine is typically always too warm and sadly, on this visit, the entire restaurant was uncomfortably warm... in fact, it was really HOT. My husband and I were both perspiring as we sat there to eat. We regrettably stayed because leaving seemed awkward and difficult but after spending over $150 for dinner for two, my husband and I both said that we paid way too much for a very, very uncomfortable experience. The server kept saying that the AC was indeed working but it was just that they have had several people come in with the door being opened and closed several times... also that the high ceilings were reasons why it was so warm. That alone would make me never go back had we never been there before. Just be honest... don't treat the patrons as if we don't know that something isn't working. It makes me, as a patron think you are lying. If the AC was working as the waiter said, the bathroom with low ceilings and closed doors would not have been as hot as it was. Not sure if I would ever go again... if I do, I will leave if they can't get the restaurant in a more comfortable environment.
Good food, wished full menu would have been available. So mother's day and my birthday was good could have been great.
The food and drinks were very good but it was very hot in the place we were sweating!
Mother’s Day with my guys at my favorite nearby place, Peli Peli. No waiting at all for our reservation even though the restaurant was quite busy. Great service, prompt but never felt pushed despite the busy day. Food was AMAZING as usual. The flavors are out of this world. Our appetizer came quickly, a bobotie that the guys shared (and I had a little bite). We ordered a carafe of mai tai mimosas (champagne and rum) — delicious! With a packed restaurant, it was a little warm inside. We actually asked for a glass of ice so we could chill down our mimosas as the carafe became room temperature. I ordered the curried chicken, a favorite of mine. The guys both went for the brunch menu’s chicken and waffles. They loved it. I got a taste and YUM! As usual, Peli Peli does not disappoint. Thanks for adding to my great Mother’s Day, Peli Peli!
I love Peli Peli, but they really need to figure out something with their AC issues, we were there from 2:30 to 3:30 and the whole time was extremely Hot, like sauna hot. I overheard other people complaining about the same issue. I've been there in other dates and I don't remember this being an issue before.
The only bad part was the indoor temperature, it was really a bit too warm. I usually freeze at restaurants but not at this facility. Enjoy the food, have been several times.
Always a favorite, we only CO e for special occasions now that we live in the city of Montgomery! As always, the food exceeded all expectations, and Mia made it extra special with her enthusiasm, energy and superb service! It was. Great Mothers Day!,
Our server was great, our meal was great, it was Mother’s day and we had a reservation but we had to sit outside in the heat because they said we’d have at least 1/2 hour wait if we wouldn’t sit outside.
We dined at Peli Peli for Mother’s Day brunch. I had been there several times for work events and finally took the family after bragging up the restaurant for years.
Mother’s Day. It was great. Even though our order was forgotten they were every attentive and apologetic. The food was fantastic.
I've been here several times for lunch and dinner with great experiences and will come back. However Mother's Day brunch meal wasn't appealing to me. The chicken schnitzel was dry and bland. We took it off and just ate the waffles and bacon.
Although this has always been one of my favorite places, I will never go back for a holiday brunch. It was insanely crowded.
We arrived at the time of our reservation, but still had to wait 45 minutes for our table. The restaurant was very hot and smelled very strongly like fish/seafood.
They had a very limited menu [i was not informed of this ahead of time].
We stayed, although after we had ordered, I regretted that decision.
The food came, and our order wasn't correct. It was corrected, but by then, mother's day brunch was pretty much ruined, considering the heat, the smell, and I couldn't even order what i had planned to order.
I will go back on a day where I enjoy myself without the crowd, the heat, the smell, and the chaotic atmosphere. Not a relaxing brunch for Mother's Day AT ALL.
Mother's Day Brunch was excellent. Very glad we had reservations as a waiting line was getting longer. Food and service was great. A few to many crying babies, but it was Mother's Day we gave them a pass on that. We will certainly go back for an evening meal. Give it a try if you have never been. We were very pleased!
I would have expected a larger brunch menu for Mother’s Day. Also for the kids menu, French Toast states it comes with “Brunch Sides”, yet they make you choose from the “regular sides” instead of actual “brunch sides” (which is a separate section on the menu) or they charge you extra $$. Why would a child want acorn squash, green beans, French fries, etc with their French toast instead of eggs or bacon. When I pointed out to the waitress that it makes no sense to make you choose from regular sides, she says “I know, it’s weird.” We have been dining at this location for a few years, our opinion of the restaurant declines each visit.
Great ambiance. Excellent menu. Strongly recommend it
Food was great like always. Another customer tried starting a fight with my uncle which was strange. The A/C also wasn’t working so it got a little hot. I highly recommend the Dom Pedro.
The waitress was great & the food was good. The only issue is it was very noisy & the tables too close to each other.
Food was good as was the service, but the restaurant is not in as good shape as it used to be. Air conditioning was not working well and the temperature was therefore on the high side of acceptable.
Very disappointed as every time we come, more of our favorites are removed from the menu. No more lamb shank, green beans, couscous, etc. Extremely loud and couldn't hear the person across the booth from me unless you really raised your voice. Used to be one of my fav places. Sad to say, not anymore.
We celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday and the manager gave us complimentary glasses of champagne! Very nice touch!
It was not what I was expecting. I was expecting only dishes that can be found in Africa, there were some but the menu looked like mostly Americanized dishes. BUT I was able to try some foods I had never eaten before with friends and that was the whole point of trying this place. I did enjoyed my food and the atmosphere! Good, as it was, the price of the food would make this a “special occasion” only dinner spot for a teacher like me.
Delicious (I was expecting mother’s day gift c. ( that’s what we celebrate) thank you
As always, the food and service were excellent. We had a small business group lunch booked for a busy Sunday and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had privacy but were well attended. It was the first time for many of our guests to experience Peli Peli and they were all very complimentary - the Boboti started off the list of hits.
Well designed space, definitely not the typical suburban Houston square box. Creative menu with lots of taste. Staff is very knowledgeable of menu and helpful in making choices. A good place to go if you want to dress up and feel pampered. Very urban feel and very good food. On the higher end of the price scale; well worth with compared to other restaurants in the area at the same price point.
Sebastian was great! Food was awesome. Steak was perfectly cooked. Great ambiance and attentive service.
Hard one for me... Mainly because I'm not sure if it's the genre of food that I dislike, or this particular chef's style.
The steak was 100% perfectly cooked to a medium rare, but it tasted like I was sucking on a bottle of marinade. Our shrimp tasted like we were chewing on a softened peppercorn. The sides we're okay, I was in love with the mango Cole slaw, but that's about it. Not to mention, the wife and I spent 100 bucks on a meal that I thought was flat out not good.
Great wait staff, and the manager was insanely professional and polite.
My wife and I don't always get a chance to have a date night. The opportunity presented itself so I made reservations. The meal was very enjoyable and the weather cooperated so we were able to sit on the patio. This is the second time we have eaten there and we will definitely go back. The carrot ginger soup was my wife's favorite, and I really enjoyed the vegetarian version of the bobotie.
For the second time in a row, the espetada was undercooked and lacked flavor. My wife had the Kingslip and was sick the next day.
It’s a shame as we were big fans of Peli Peli...
Good food and wonderful service. Had a dinner with friends and it was a very nice eve
Peli Peli made to my top 5 favorite restaurants of all times. I was extremely delighted by the entire experience. The food was exquisite.
Great place for an anniversary celebration. Don't skip the Sticky Toffee Pudding!
