Peli Peli - Vintage Park Ratings and Reviews
Food was outstanding. Had steak medallions with the Huguenot sauce . So tender and cooked just right. Yummy.
Waiter Patrick was very nice and efficient. Right orders and quick service. A birthday party for
my friend with 4 others. Had such a nice lunch. We will definitely return.
Went to celebrate my 9th anniversary there with my wife. It was our first time there and we were treated very respectfully. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. Later on a manager stopped by and gave us a couple of free glasses of wine, for the occasion. Would definitely go back mostly because of how well they treated us. The food was very good too. It was something new!
The food was great as usual! We specifically came for brunch and everyone enjoyed what we ordered. However the service was merely average, not totally outstanding like it usually is, so it only warranted a 15% tip instead of my usual 20-25%. Nothing major, just slow drink refills and the server forgot an extra side that was ordered. Nothing that would cause me to not return, but still notable in comparison to the normal high class service. :-)The server may have been new. Peli Peli is still my favorite for a good dinner!
We will certainly be back again for a family Christmas dinner later this month.
The food was amazing. We loved the samosas, salads and steaks. Seasonings and sauces were excellent. The specialty cocktail we had was very good, it was very peachy tasting.
The little side room we were in was nice and quiet but it felt like an afterthought. We may as well have been at a card table with folding chairs.
We were there for our anniversary and took out photo and gave us a printed copy which was a nice touch.
Our server, Sylvia, was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu. We asked for recommendations since it was our first time there. She recommended the 8 oz filet with hugenot sauce and the Chilean Sea Bass. We took her word for it and boy we were glad we did. We loved the dishes. We also received a card from the staff wishing us a happy anniversary and a $10 Gift card for Peli Peli. We'll be using this gift card when we come back. Thanks for making this special occasion memorable!
Peli Peli is a great choice for special occasions, e.g., anniversaries. We have eaten here numerous times and each time the service and quality of food has been outstanding. I recommend the filet mignon with the Hugenot topping. Although I initially had reservations about ordering the optional blue cheese and raspberry sauce topping on a choice filet that would be perfectly tasteful and satisfying in and of itself, I was greatly surprised by the taste 'explosion' I experienced after my first bite. I would never have thought to combine such seemingly extreme taste sensations together with a steak. On other visits I have contemplated ordering the filet with one of the other topping options but just can't bring myself to pass up this unique flavor. I can only imagine that the others are equally flavorful.
I was a regular until around a year ago when I thought it was going downhill. After the new facility opened at the Galleria, I thought the owner was neglecting this original location. Food quality and service dropped. Just the same it was a vibrant place.
Having now returned, it may well be another year + before I go back.
Prawn pieces in the bisque were HARD. Their signature Bobotie appetizer was DRY and the Chicken Curry was less than fresh. Only saving grace was the trio dessert.
From a favourite for a few years to somewhere to be avoided.
Obsevation....Thursday nights used to be a very busy night with 90% + tables occupied. There were only 11 tables occupied on this visit. A reflection of things sliding downhill?
This was our fourth time to dine at Peli Peli and my wife and I took our son and his wife. The menu has different items that just aren't found at other restaurants. However, there is something for everyone. South African. It is spot on with the food. (Just wish they served ostrich). Many of the wines are from South Africa as well. Again, we had the Bobotie, and again it was superb! We always enjoy the atmosphere. This time we sat outside as it was a nice day, but inside has an interesting decor. We will be back again soon.
Overall experience was amazing! Highly recommend the South African Gentleman, lamb chops, and appetizer sampler! The food has amazing flavor, service was great and server had excellent recommendations. Would definitely come back! They also surprised my wife and me with complimentary champagne for our anniversary. Can’t say enough good things about Peli Peli.
We ordered the prawn cakes for our appetizer. Very crispy on outside and not greasy. Nice size pieces of prawns. Worth a try. The filet on the lunch menu was amazing. Note: medium is medium rare. The chipotle raspberry blue cheese bacon sauce was extremely flavorful. The balsamic Brussels sprouts were perfectly cooked. The kingclip fish was also ordered and did not disappoint. Was a great meal and worth a trip.
Awesome South African Fusion menu. The food was hot, tasty, and plentiful. Expect to bring some home with you, large portions. While ambience was a little on the frugal side, the food made up for it. I will DEFINITELY be going back. The staff was friendly and attentive.
