Our food was delicious. The service was terrific. They recommended fantastic wine!
The food was amazing! We loved everything! We brought a senior friend for her birthday (she had been there 2 or 3 times before) the other 2 of us - it was our first time. My other friend is very skeptical and does not usually try new things (she confessed after lunch) that she wanted to cancel because she was afraid she wouldn't like South African Cuisine. She loved it! She can't wait to go back!
Consistently delicious and interesting menu. Excellent service and interesting ambience.
I love the Sea Bass but the price has gotten too expensive. I am sorry they do not do the sweet potatoes fries anymore. It was dark in there - a little hard to read the menu. The food is excellent but overall a little pricey but I still love to come there for special occasions..
The food was wonderful! We had the bacon wrapped seafood espetada, beef espetada and the lamb osso bucco. The seafood was flavorful and well cooked. The beef was melt in your mouth tender as was the lamb. The hand crafted cocktails were delicious. Can’t praise the service enough! Our server was well versed on all aspects of the menu. Great place, wonderful experience!
Top notch experience. Phong was very attentive but other employees also helped with our large group. Son in law said this has to be in his top 5 food experiences. We’ll be back!
Our server was EXCELLENT. The bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable. The steak came out over-cooked, but it was quickly corrected. The main issue was that we expected a more cozy, steakhouse-feel. The dining area is extremely loud and cold for a pricey restaurant (granted, we should have done our research beforehand and set our expectations accordingly).
The Lamb chops I usually have were terrible and not up to usual standards. To compensate I was given a $25.00 Gift Certificate,
Thank you for accommodating us to help celebrate our anniversary.
Out table was perfect and the waiter was great.
I visit Peli Peli-Vintage at least 3 times a year. I bring out of town guests because the food is normally outstanding. Up until my recent visit I have had no complaints. On the 18th of November that changed. The food was bland and the presentation was mediocre. The menu did not have many brunch options for those whose diets forbid or restrict carbohydrates, glutens, sugar, or grains. Our server Kalvan was great, but overall it wasn’t the Peli Peli I am accustomed to.
Our server was great, food was great. Fantastic anniversary evening.
Restaurant can get a little loud to hold a conversation. Food was interesting and excellent
Fantastic food and service. Our favorite place. We love food, ambience, service, and rock solid menu.
Outstanding as usual.
I been going to Peli Peli for years and love their food.
We enjoyed everything immensely. One person had never been to Peli Peli and couldn't not stop commenting, the food and the area was nice. A new place to go!
Have a very good dinner. The sampler appetized was outstanding. The rest of the meal was just as good.
The Sampler appetizer arrived cold. The Cabernet I was enjoying was topped off by a Pinot that was to complement the seafood bowl I ordered. The glass was taken away and another brought with the Pino, but they did not replenish the Cab.
The skewer of filet arrived cold, the garlic butter atop sat congealed.
The seafood bowl arrived cold and the large lobster-like prawns terribly undercooked. The scallops were pleasant. The two mussels were fresh, but appeared to be plucked from another tomato dish, as the bowl in which the seafood sat was ladened in an overbearing spiced oil.
For a &200 meal, I could have eaten that quality anywhere mundane for $45.
I dined at the Peli Peli in the Galleria the week prior, and it was exceptional. I duplicated my order here, and I was shocked at the disparity between the two.
The manager offset the meal with a “free” desert which arrived after the bill had been paid and we were on our way out.
Sadly I will not be back.
Peli Peli is worth the experience, I bragged about it to family and friends all weekend, I definitely brought you all more business, can't wait to come back, it feels like home.
I ordered the steak and it melted in my mouth. The flavors were wonderful!
Peli Peli offers interesting and different food choices. Generally, the food is very good. Service was good. The high ceilings in the restaurant make it very loud. Being the farthest seat away from server in a booth it was almost impossible to understand any thing he said. The booth we were seated in had worn out cushions. The covers were torn and it felt like we were sitting in a hole. For the cost of the meal this restaurant is not a deal by any stretch of the imagination. We have eaten here four times and this visit will be our last.
We enjoyed our dinner with friends very much and were proud to introduce them to one of our favorite restaurants.
Superb in all ways. Jeremy, our server is top of the line.
My first visit. But I would definitely return. Friendly staff and delicious food.
Really like this restaurant. Steak and sides are wonderful. Will return for special occasions. Happy they are at Vintage.
The food was excellent. The prices were high for my taste, I am retired and so this was a special treat for my birthday! Beautiful Interior . I think they should add live music!
Its just an awesome, creative and amazing place to eat. Have been going since they opened. Its my preferred business lunch place for customers, partners and prkspects.
The Food and presentation was excellant. the waitress was very informative.
We dined here on a Saturday night and they surprisingly weren't busy. This was our first time dining at this Peli Peli, but we haved dined at other Peli Peli locations. THE GOOD: The chicken sosaties appetizer (grilled chicken and apricots go great together), the espetada (tip: they'll substitute one of their other sauces for the garlic herb butter sauce and I like the huguenot), the chicken espetada (tip: don't order this and chicken sosaties appetizer together as too similar), the mango coleslaw (tip: they'll substitute it for the carrot bredie), and the chocolate mousse cake; THE MEDIOCRE: The service (flaky waiter), the outdoor seating (great weather for it but were seated next to a table of 6 who shouted their conversations); THE BAD: carrot bredie (we gave it a try again and still neither one of us likes this).
Fab food for any occasion. Ask the staff what's unique about the Vintage location. Try everything since it's all good!
My husband and I have been to Peli-Peli before and thoroughly enjoyed the food, wine, staff and ambiance. This time I brought my little girl (age (9) as we were having a mother-daughter outing. She can be somewhat picky when it comes to unique ethnic foods, but to my pleasant surprise she enjoyed her meal. She ordered the deep fried waffles while I satisfied my palette with the South African Kingklip & Scallops.
Food was ok. Meat was slightly over done. Sides were very good. Waiter was great. Atmosphere was awesome.
Restaurant in need of a makeover. Seats in booths were coming apart, chairs seemed rickety, and carpet looked worn and dirty in places. Food was good overall, but overpriced for the quality. Menu items, including long time favorites like the rib eye, were not revealed to be unavailable until the order was taken, with the excuse of “we’re changing our menu”. Appetizers, including house made sausage were disappointingly over cooked. Reservation was on a Thursday evening, with perhaps 20% of the tables filled, so not an issue with pace. Have been going to this location since Paul opened it. Hard to see it deteriorate. Too much growth?
This was my first time here. My waiter Kalven was excellent! His suggestion on my food plate was perfect! My drinks was perfect. There isnt anything bad i can say about my first experience here. Definitely coming back!
The food was very good. It was pretty well seasoned, definitely not something you’d eat every day. We both got the skillet dish, the only complaint is that the calamari was a bit rubbery. Then for the desert we got “sticky toffee pudding” which in essence is a microwaved molten lava style cake with toffee and ice cream on top. I didn’t quite understand the name as there was not any pudding involved. Our server kind of sucked and was very ditzy. She kept forgetting to bring things like sweeten low or a refill multiple times. So summarize, it’s definitely an unusual spot, main entree is good, skip the dessert though.
Peli Peli is OK restaurant but I wouldn’t choose it for another occasion.Ambient was loud as if I were in a bar and the food was nothing special.Definitely not worth the money.
However,the service was outstanding.
Loved the service and the food! This was my first South African dining experience and I can't wait to go back.
I met the chef. Great character and amazing story
Definitely going back
Go here frequently for business lunches. Always spot on. Food is creative, tasty and consistent. If you’re looking for something outside the box but not that far, try this
The service of management was exceptional, i was celebrating a partners half birthday, yes half birthday. They made the occassion so special. It was great!
