Pelato, the beloved Brooklyn-Italian restaurant is a family-run eatery offering a memorable dining experience with small plates featuring cherished family recipes. A mural wall adorned with original photographs reflects the family's Brooklyn heritage.

The menu celebrates authentic Italian flavors with a Brooklyn twist, featuring classic dishes like Potato Croquettes, Baked Clams Oreganata, and Chicken Parmigiana, along with house-made pastas. Don't miss the classic desserts like rainbow cookies & zeppoles to complete your meal.
Outdoor dining available year-round in our enclosed, covered, & heated patio.

20% gratuity will be applied to groups of 6 or more. Split checks may be divided up to 4 credit cards at equal value. A corkage fee of $45 per 750ml will be applied to guests bringing their own wine (limit 2 bottles). A dessert plating fee of $5 per person will be applied to any outside desserts. Due to high demand, tables are subject to a 2-hour limit.

Family Sauce is exceptional—their specialty I believe, but I’d be nuts not to think every menu item wasn’t as perfect. Entire night was wonderful with delicious, fresh food. A bit noisy so maybe add sound paneling in the room to the far back. Welcome to Charleston✨

Our server, Jason, was absolutely spectacular! He made the entire experience so much fun. The food was fantastic. Such a terrific evening spent at Pelato. I’m already looking forward to my next meal at Pelato.

Food was good but VERY loud inside and a bit stressful with so many waitstaff constantly walking by the table. I prefer a clean plate after appetizers. I do think tablecloths and artwork would warm up the place. Will try outside next time.

This was my first time having small plates for dinner. I am not a big tapas person but wanted to try this new restaurant out. We started with the stuffed mushrooms, which were absolutely delicious—though the portion was small, with only four pieces. We also tried the potato croquettes, which were just okay in comparison. For our main course, the pasta radiatori was outstanding! We paired it with the chicken parmigiana, and both dishes were excellent—highly recommend them. My husband had the sausage and rigatoni, but unfortunately, neither of us really enjoyed it. For dessert, we chose the apple turnover cake, but it tasted more like a dense cinnamon cake with little to no apple flavor. However, the frozen espresso martini was the highlight of the meal—so good! One thing to note: the food is served as it’s prepared, so items may not come out together. For example, we received our mushrooms first and didn’t get the croquettes until we had already finished them. I would have preferred to enjoy both starters at the same time. I also noticed another table eating just broccolini while waiting for the rest of their appetizers. Just a little odd in my opinion. Overall good experience! Sit outside if you can.

Food, atmosphere, service, everything was great but it was EXPENSIVE !! We thought a more casual dining experience would be more casually priced. We spent the same amount here that we did at sorelle, which frankly is the best Italian food in Charleston.

We we’re running 5 minutes late for our 5pm reservation. We were seated at 5:06 and literally were served all 6 dishes by 5:50pm.I wanted a dining experience but it was so rushed. As a local that was eager to try a new restaurant, I must say we were disappointed. They need to slow down the pace and work on the acoustics inside the dining room. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. The patio appears to be the best location for dining.

Seemed like a marketing scheme to have such small plates at prices of regular entrees where you’re encouraged to order 2-3 plates per person. Food was okay. It was extremely loud inside. Not a great date night spot. It should not have cost $200 for a family of four - 2 adults, 2 kids (age 8 & 11).

Thank you for the feedback. I did anticipate receiving this review, though disappointed we didn't have the opportunity to speak in person. I picked up on the dissatisfaction at your table and attempted several times to have an honest conversation around the concerns, though I understand with the kids out to family dinner why you may not have wanted to have that conversation. Please know that there is no scheme or plot here at Pelato. Our intention with small sharable plates is to allow our guests a unique ability to experience a wider variety of dishes in a single sitting. Stuffed mushrooms are a must! Also, the homemade pastas are amazing - we ordered the Campanelle Shrimp Limone in addition to the Rigatoni & Italian Sausage. Being our first time here, I didn't realize how close some of the dining tables are to each other, so if you don't want to clearly hear your neighbors' conversations then I recommend avoiding the tables on the booth wall.
