Pch is Austins very first absinthe bar, serving rich French cuisine and pre-Prohibition style cocktails along with a carefully curated wine list. The bartenders are always ready to answer questions and educate guests on the libations served. Pch strives to provide an atmosphere that is both mysterious and fun.
The menu at Pch is tailored to the drink menu and features snacks such as mushroom fritters and grilled octopus, as well as meals such as duck confit and butternut squash ravioli. The rib eye and the Texas wild boar are local favorites and be sure to finish your meal with an adult milkshake such as the bananas Foster.
I took my wife here for her birthday because we love whisky and fine dining. The menu was amazing, so we had to give it a shot. Here’s why I gave it 2-stars;
1. We were seated at a table that was a main walkway and crammed between the bar and a booth behind us. I told the seater that it was my wife’s birthday and could we move to one of the many open booths in the restaurant. She told me no because they only give those to parties of 3. Poor service.
2. The amazing menu did not have amazing quality. Our food had absolutely no presentation (I’ve had similar presentation at gas station restaurants). The food was poorly seasoned and lacked any sort of pride you’d expect in a good dish.
3. Despite the poor food quality, the restaurant still charges the price of high-quality food. Our 2 entrees alone were around $120. We felt absolutely ripped off. I’ve had better meals at fastfood restaurants.
4. The restaurant absolutely was not practicing social distancing. The bar was packed; people’s elbows were touching. Our table was only about 2 feet from the bar and the same distance to another table with a couple sitting at it. We were told by our waitress that we had to order our whiskey from the bar. That would involve us squeezing between two people at the bar to speak to the bartender. We told the waitress we weren’t comfortable with that and, to her credit, she adjusted to us and acted as our go-between with the bartender.
To conclude, go here if you like good whiskey. DO NOT come here for the food. Also, definitely recommend not coming here during the pandemic. They clearly don’t care about keeping people safe.
This was our first time at Peche and it was well worth it. The ambiance was great, vibrant, with many beautiful people. Zoe did a wonderful job serving us. Everything we had was absolutely delicious (I had the onion tart as a starter followed by the vegetarian eggplant Napoleon and my wife had escargots as starter and the foie gras with grits as entree). Of course, I had to have one of their absinthe cocktails, since it is an absinthe bar - I had the Absinthe God, which was very good. Another Austin gem that you must give a try.
If you want a romantic place to have a nice causal meal and make you feel special......THIS ISN’T THE PLACE FOR YOU! The server was nice but the owner was awful. We were slightly late and the owner said we only have an a certain time to eat. We where 5 minutes late cause of traffic. I reserved on open table and said it was my husbands and I 6th wedding anniversary......nothing.......owner treated us poorly.....food was good but would of gotten better service at a Waffle House. The server was helpful and overworked though. There was nothing on the reservation site had nothing about a time limit and only says that there is a 15 minute grace period for late reservations, of which we were 1/3 of late. My adult milkshake was missing my cherry as well.
Derek and Zack are all stars. The drinks are always perfect and the ambiance on point. Always a great time at Pèchè!
We came in expecting something different but we gave it
A shot anyways. The service was okay. We felt that the service was a little aloof. The food was not what we were expecting either. The restaurant seemed like it would have been a little more upscale but the food did not translate. We only got snacks and went on our way. For two appetizers and two drinks and a dessert, the execution and the price were not up to par. The place is beautiful and has good ambiance but the service and food was lackluster.
Chef John did it again with an amazing meal from start to finish. Do yourself a favor and come early for their cocktail happy hour and stay late for the amazing food.
Cocktails, escargot, tartar, oysters Rockefeller, sweet breads EXCELLENT
Absolutely LOVE the place. Had no idea what to expect. The drinks are one of a kind, made SPECIALLY for you. Not only the drinks but the FOOD, is probably one of the best places I've been in Austin so far. The escargot dish is to die for. The fish was cooked perfectly, the service was really good, and the atmosphere is general is amazing for a cute romantic date, or even a VERY nice first impression. Can't go wrong at Peche. 100% recommend, for dates, friends, or just a nicer place in general to go to. You can get dressed and pamper up.
Went there to celebrate my girlfriend’s 35th birthday. Our server was very nice but the hostess was very rude and short. The food simply wasn’t good at all and had no flavor! I would never go or recommend Peche to anyone. Bad dinning experience but the worst place and way to celebrate a birthday.
Food and service are always great with a very C
"Cheers" like atmosphere. I always recommend this restaurant to out of towners looking for a restaurant that reflects the Austin vibe.
The escargot is a MUST!
This place is devine! The braised short ribs melted in our mouth. The pecan pie with real vanilla bean ice cream was perfect to finish off a beautiful meal!
Great experience! The fried eggplant with ricotta was AMAZING!
Always great place for date night
First time visiting and a good experience, we will be back!
Food was delicious. Cocktails very well crafted with great flavor profiles. Decor was very inviting. Would highly recommend.
The food selections were good. Spirits and wine selection were far better. Ambience was very dark but manageable. Service was slow and we even had to grab attention from our waiter a few times for things that were needed.
The food quality has gone down badly, so disappointed. The food came out cold and not fresh. Only the drinks were good. The service went down too.
I wanted to like it but food was not worth the price. The mussels were over cooked and tiny. It tasted like it was frozen. The foie gras was also overcooked and mealy not buttery. Basically i feel like they have probably have been affected by COVID like most restaurants and therefore their ingredients are not as fresh as it should be. To make up for it i feel they overcooked everything.
Too crowded. Too loud. Rushed service. Horribly spaced out food prep. Overall a great place for drinks. Dine elsewhere if you plan to spend that much money.
Wonderful food, drinks, service and ambiance! Never dispppints!
Great atmosphere! Only had dessert and cocktails but very fun place!
First time there... Loved the whole thing. Outstanding food and service. Will definitely be coming back.
Fantastic, start to finish. Many cocktails to choose from, from classics to creatives. Charcuterie and haricot vert salad were delicious every bite. Owner stopped by and recommended the sweetbreads, which did not disappoint. Fois gras was divine and the whole table's favorite thing we ate. Wine list was fantastic and dessert was worth it. 10/10 would recommend and am excited to go back.
Hands down one of the best restaurants I have eaten in. The food and service were impeccable. Highly recommend!
Food was fresh and authentic. Interesting dishes. Tequila cocktails were great!
Well appointed bar with bartenders who know what they are doing. Excellent drinks. Food was average at best and overpriced. They have no idea how to execute the correct temperature of a simple hamburger. It was dry and inedible (was supposed to be medium-well). Staff were aggressive in trying to hurry you along to buy more things rather than attentive to your needs. Welcome from the host was far from warm. I’d probably skip this place given the plethora of options in Austin and the general feeling of being unwelcome that I felt eating at this place.
Great Resto/ Bar. Our first time there. Won’t be the last. Quickly shot to the top of my best n austin list.
Great food, unique offerings, excellent service and great ambiance
This was not my first time at Peche; the other times were great. The bar tender for this visit was surprisingly, and horribly rude. I don't care to rehash the details, but we left after one drink. I would go back provided I had different service personnel.
Peche is a favorite of mine and my husband's. Their happy hour is amazing! We love coming whether it is a special occasion or just a Tuesday.
Highly recommend the escargot and a fig foam Manhattan!
Great food and drinks. Got a little history on some of the drinks we ordered plus wonderful atmosphere.
Always a great experience. Not a thing on the menu that disappoints.
Best Happy Hour in Austin!
The food was amazing, and the waiter as well the owner were great. I’ve never had such a great dinning experience. 10 out of 10 would highly recommend.
Awesome food, really cool place. My girlfriend and I came down to Austin for the weekend to get away from Dallas. Péché was the perfect spot, cool and unique bar and amazing French food. We will definitely be back whenever we are in Austin.
good very good
5/5 for the happy hour on Sunday! I love that it’s all day so you don’t have to rush. Amazing food and drinks. It also feels swanky inside, like you’re dining somewhere special but also cool. It would probably be 4/5 for not HH dining based on cost. Bring your date here to impress her, or your mom to show her how cool Austin is.
The owners are great! Rob visits each table as if they are the only diner there. So hospitable. The drinks are AMAZINGLY creative and delicious. Great vibe and food delicious. Really a must try. Impressed beyond....
I love Peche, although, it seems the food isn’t always consistent. We love their escargot but it seems that it has different amount of seasoning and sauce depending on the day. The quails are to die for! The drinks are fabulous.
Freaking amazing, like always!!!! The snails are to die for.
