Short ribs were amazing as was the Salmon. The only reason for a 4 rating is the cosmo my wife and I had was terrible. First it was served in a tumbler glass with ice and had a very tart taste like excess lime juice. We sent it back to have the same drink poured in a martini glass but I am sure the bartender just took the ice out. I sent it back a second time and had a glass of wine.

What Paul Martin’s has done in the last 6 months is just shy of unbelievable. There has been some kind of culinary reinvention that brought me back to the inaugural year Paul Martin’s opened at The Domain. Kudos to all the old and new team members who have done an extraordinary job in bringing Paul Martin’s back to the top of the dining experiences offered at the Domain in Austin!

We had a good evening. I was expecting a little more for Cinco de Mayo, but not a big deal. The staff seemed a bit withdrawn, specifically the hostess and our waitress, but otherwise polite. I only noticed because in the past there was more energy so maybe an off night.

I went there from a Cinco De Mayo email advertising Baja Fish Tacos with a Blood Orange Margarita for $25. It was not on the menu, or even a “special “ Cinco de Mayo menu. When I showed the email to the waiter, he didn’t know anything about it. Then went and asked someone about it, and says they didn’t have it, but would make it for me.. I got fish tacos, but they were not Baja, or fried, did not have the crunchy slaw or the creamy dressing. In other words, it was not what I was expecting. The Margarita was not the pretty blood orange rita, but a standard Margarita. It was good , but not what was advertised. Was told the bartender didn’t have the food coloring to put into the Margarita to make it orange . I really don’t think bartenders use food coloring for drinks. But I’ve have blood orange Rita’s before and pretty sure it’s not food coloring that makes them orange.

My meal was amazing! I had the filet mignon with mashed potatoes. We also had the street tacos for an app which were great! The butter cake is to die for. Do not leave without trying the butter cake. Soloman was also a gem, so polite and attentive.

We had a girls night out. The service was just ok. They were having an issue with the deviled eggs that night and they were not good. My order was messed up and my food was not cooked to my specifications so I was disappointed. There were just too many missteps for us that evening.

For appetizers we ordered the ribs & shrimp - Waited a good long while before they came out. We were offered cauliflower while we waited. No problem except the ribs came out cold, not even warm in the slightest. They were really tasty but just ruined that they were cold. It didn't make sense since we waited such a long time for them to come out, we figured they'd be super fresh.

Shrimp came out even later than the ribs and but were also tasty! (Not cold either) :)

Food was wonderful though, best steak I ever had and the shrimp linguini was phenomenal.

Hi Linda, Thank you for providing some insight into your evening. I am saddened to hear about the long wait and cold ribs, what a bummer! I apologize about that, we over extended ourselves a bit and a I apologize it was at the expense of your appetizers. Next time you are around please reach out so I can make sure you're well taken care of and get an opportunity to have some really good ribs, hot ones! Thanks again, Kris!

I have been to Paul Martin's many times before and have always enjoyed it. This visit however was very disappointing. Food was subpar and service was ok at best. First, no one greeted us for 20 min or so. Finally, I had to ask a waiter if we could order drinks. He was courteous, took our order. I ordered Captan and Diet with lime tall. I got Captan on the rocks, side of Diet Coke in a bottle, no lime. I asked for a tall glass with ice so I can mix my drink couple of times. Never got it. I asked for extra napkins because we were dining with small kids. Didn't get them. We ordered desert. It was served without utensils. We had extra menus that no one took away and just cluttered the space. The waiter didn't remember what I had ordered when I asked for my order to be billed on a separate check. Good wise, the only good thing from our order was the fries. I mean, I ordered for myself and my 5 year old sun. Our bill was close to $100. You'd think for that much money we would get decent food and service. Very disappointing!

Easter event

We went for Easter brunch. The Pris Fix meal options I chose the "steak and arugula eggs Benedict". Unfortunately the steak was tough and in some cases gristly. I had difficulty chewing my very first bite and after chewing for at least a minute, my jaw was so tired that I had to swallow and nearly choked. Since the steak was tough, the whole eggs benedict stack essentially fell ap[art while cutting it, so it became a mess! My wife thought I should have sent it back, but I wasn't very interested in the other options so I persisted, but there wasn't enough Hollandaise sauce, so it was very dry. The other issue we had was the menu said that the Eggs Benedict we served with "smashed potatoes", when in fact they were saved with cut up, fried, __Breakfast Potatoes__! When the manager asked how things were I told her that I was disappointed that I didn't get smashed/mashed potatoes, at which point she began some strange defense about how they are cut up and "smashed" against each other, I suppose, while they're tumbled around in the seasoning. Stunned that the manager would try to convince me of something so observably __false__, I showed her one of the angular breakfast potatoes and pointed out how it was __cut__ and in no way "smashed"... At this point she merely turned and walked away, so I didn't get an offer of substituting the kind of potatoes I had anticipated receiving, nor was I able to even raise the issue of the toughness of the steak on the eggs benedict... Apparently when they ask you "How's your meal", they only want to hear you say "Great!" or something to that effect, rather then receive an honest reply... Since the entire meal was north of $100, I'd have to say we definitely did not feel that the value of the meal matched it's price. I would suggest that in the future they leave the rest of their menu open, as we love their ribs (for instance), but had such a poor experience with their Easter brunch, that f that's the only option, we won't be back.
