Food was great. Rare delicacy options. Ambiance was quiet indoors. We wanted rooftop but it worked out better this way. Waitress was attentive and quick with a great personality. Will definitely be coming back.
Disorganized. Long long wait time for food. We were seated much later than our reservation even though our table was open - like they were trying to pace the kitchen. Forgot one of our appetizers, long delay for main courses, then getting the bill was another long delay. We ordered the ceviche appetizer and crab cake appetizers which were very good. We then had the Salmon entrees, one of which was cold. They need new management.
Seated us not as requested.
Food was not good at all. I’ve been twice before and it was great. This time, blah!!!! And service was slow.
Everything was great except the food was flavorless... I was very excited to try the whole menu which we did get every appetizer they had. They where all very beautiful dishes but not a single thing had much flavor or weren’t seasoned well.
Sad to see the business struggling as it has always been a staple for us. Working with a skeleton crew, they are still friendly and attentive. The food is still good and HH is a great deal
The food was TERRIBLE unfortunately. The chicken sandwich lacked chicken and instead was a huge over fried piece of fat and the bun was toasted WAY to many times. The mac in the mac and cheese was nonexistent. Even the drink was awful considering we got something completely different from what was ordered.
If you’re thinking about visiting, keep on walking.
Visiting U of Texas for first time for our son.
HIGHLY recommend, as always. Safe during quarantine. Wednesday night oyster/sparkling night is a great deal. Our server Kate was amazing!
We LOVED the oyster deal on Wednesdays! So delicious. Our server was kind, gracious, and practiced good social distancing.
I appreciated that the management provides their employees with gloves, which not a lot of places are doing.
We will definitely return.
So glad we found this place. Service was exceptional. Food was great. Can't wait to visit again.
Unfortunately they were out of two of the appetizers our table ordered. But the oysters were outstanding and service was great! Happy hour is great and drinks just as good!
Parkside was okay. We went around 5:15 on a Saturday and did a great job with social distancing. No issues with feeling uncomfortable. It was happy hour and the drinks were good! I got the Strawberry Sparkle or something like that and it was good. The food was just ok. I had the salmon and my date had the chicken sandwich. Both meh. Not a lot of flavor. Service was fine. Nothing too crazy. Probably wouldn’t go back because there was nothing that really kept you wanting to come back!
So good to be back at Parkside. Although they are not doing specials during this time the food was still very good. One of the best burgers in town. The fries seemed a little different we remembered them thinner and with a parmesan herb topping instead of the garlic herb. The scallops with crab louie sauce and roasted red pepper (?I think) sauce was very good. Generous serving of scallops perfectly cooked. Loved the thin slices of serrano on it (more!) but not the mint.
Great wine selections, loved the Texas Rousanne.
Wish they would bring back the Fluke dish that was so good, have to try the Bass next time.
We were adventuring out to dine in restaurants. We chose Parkside as we were familiar with this restaurant. We entered, were welcome and were taken to the bar area. We asked to sit in the dining room as we were dressed in nice clothes. The music was loud and not appropriate for fine dining - maybe we were too early. Nice waitress and when she saw we had only one phone with us and not so familiar with scanning she did bring us a paper menu. We ordered a Ceasar Salad and Steak & Frites to share. We also ordered Fried Calmari and Fried Okra to share. Overall, the food was disappointing, chopped lettuce with tomatoes and no dressing as ordered, Calmari only slightly crisp, steak one bite of 5 was without sinew. We liked the okra and the fried potatoes. Asked for catsup. We live in the neighborhood and like to support our local restaurants. We ordered a pizza from BackStreet the night before and it was also disappointing - crust was tough and could hardly find the mushrooms. I am hoping this was all attributed to pandemic closing and not their future food service.
Great service. Food was on point. Had pate and scallops. Hit the spot. Wed they have an oyster and bubbles happy hour. Best spot downtown.
Drinks from the bar were fantastic. The appetizers wonderful. The entrees were so tasty - butter chicken was outstanding. The new chicken sandwich on the menu was so delicious. The okra so so good - cut on a diagonal, such a great way to showcase this dish. Wish we'd had room for dessert. We will be back to enjoy more of Parkside in the future!
No Cabernet available by the glass. Otherwise excellent evening
Amamzing meal - can’t beat 50% off from 5pm-6pm!
For being as expensive as this place was, it was not up to par! I expected great service and food and both were lacking. It took a long time to get anything and the wait staff that dropped items were very rude, unhelpful and even aggressive in their dropoffs.
We enjoyed an evening for our friends bachelor weekend and were not disappointed. Excellent service to our group and delicious food. My chicken plate was returned all but licked clean. Other quotes from my group: “Excellent service. Bar steak is delicious. Great cocktails” “Give a shout out to Blair for making excellent recommendations and doing a great job overall.”
Food was amazing. Service was a bit slow, but still within acceptable limits. Noise levels were very high. Couldn't carry a conversation with my friend.
Went to dinner with our friends. reservation time was honored but our entire dining experience was horrible. The services was nice but it seemed that the right hand didn’t know what the left hand was doing. My martini took 25 minutes to get because they sent the wrong drink. My table ended up fishing their drinks before I even received my first one. The Brussels were burnt and soggy the same time (i didn’t know that was possible) my boyfriend ordered the salmon and it was the size of the $7.00 salmon piece at HEB not to mention it was way over cooked to the point where the fork couldn’t cut it easy. The bill was expensive. They had a backup in the restrooms which caused a horrible odor the entire night. A girl brought a random drink to our table and dropped it off... none of us ordered it only to find that we were charged for it. No one touched it. Super unorganized and I wish we didn’t waste our hard earned money.
Terrible service from beginning to end. From the bartender, to the waitstaff they just didn’t seem to care about the experience of their customers.
Love Parkside usually, but they had a “bathroom issue” on the particular night we were there this time, which ruined our appetites, so we cut it short.
Food and drinks were still quality as always, and our server was polite, personable, and attentive.
No doubt in my mind it was a one-time thing!
The vibe/atmosphere is nice, especially for a corner restaurant in the heart of "Dirty 6th." Would definitely try again, but for a table of 4 with a few drinks, shareables, and main courses, we felt that the price point was a little high for the food and the length of time to serve. The wait staff were all very pleasant, knowledgable, etc., but the food did take quite some time to come to the table. Would try again to see if it was simply a one-time experience of that kind.
Decent sized portions but food was bland and over priced. Much better options around in Austin for similar price
Very unprofessional to establish reservations and for them to be completely ignored. Not just my party but anyone who attended that night. 2 hours behind schedule we didn’t get seated until midnight.
Food is good when it's hot, fish was salty. Service got our request wrong and brought food we didn't order. Place was packed. Value was lower than expected. Apple pie was incredible.
We had reservations at 8:45 but did not get seated till 9:40 after going to the front and asking them how much longer. My boyfriend noticed that 3 names had been crossed off after our name... Still we were in a good mood and we knew it was Valentines Day. We ordered the bone marrow, 3 things from the raw including a dozen oysters and steak. We never got the oysters, we informed 2 different staff regarding the oysters and they said they would check on it and everyone around us was getting oysters, except us. We never got it. The food was not 3-4 stars, the reservation and wait was not worth it. I would not recommend this place or ever come back. Food, service and environment spend your money and your time elsewhere seriously.
The wait once we arrived was a little extensive, but the service and food more than made up for it.
Took 45 minutes to seat us after reservation. Food order was never submitted, we finished 2 courses behind tables that were seated after ys
Only the desert was worth mentioning. Everything else was chewing and salty. I was very disappointed.
We were seated a full hour after our reservation time. Upon being seated, we were given a $20 voucher for our next visit and two complimentary glasses of bubbles for our wait. We were then given a complimentary appetizer of Brussels sprouts, I assume because it took a full hour for our meal to arrive after we ordered. Upon receiving the check, we had to ask for the Brussels sprouts that we didn’t order to be removed from the bill. The free bubbles and Brussels we didn’t ask for didn’t make up for the fact that we didn’t end up eating dinner until 9:30 at night, and the manager never even stopped by our table. This experience ruined our Valentine’s Day. We left the $20 voucher on the table when we left because we will never be back, which is a huge bummer because Valentine’s Day is the anniversary of when my husband and I started our relationship and Parkside is where we hosted the rehearsal dinner for our wedding when we got married in 2018.
1) The app platter: A) The lamb tartare contained large chunks of fat that they neglected to trim prior to chopping the meat. Considering that the portion size was dreadfully small; I was unable to eat 1/4 of my serving because biting a piece of raw, cold, fat is similar to biting a pebble of cured polymer. B) The smoked fish pate was made with fish that had reached the final day of its shelf-life. They attempted to conceal this with large portions of fresh dill--this masking did not work. C) I don't recall the other offerings so they were neither good nor bad. I was very disappointed with the lamb tartare though.
2) The salad; It was abysmally dull with a strange "paste" dressing coating the perimeter of the plate. It had also been assaulted with flakes of something that reminded me of the shell from a post-fired creme brulee. This was a very distracting addition to a rather boring salad.
3) The braised ribs were amazing. They deserve high marks.
4) The dessert: I'm not a chocolate fan. However, my wife is. It speaks volumes that she only ate one bite.
5) The oysters were good. However, we were served some rather large oysters. The couple adjacent to us were served a platter of small oysters (the ones that are sweet and more flavorful). I wish we had been given the option to choose.
I like Parkside and we'll go there again, but we'll never go for their holiday menu again--it was over priced and disastrous.
Always a great experience!
Great food, awesome service! We love dining at Parkside and will definitely be back!
Every time I go to Parkside, I am more than pleased with the experience. The service is always warm and knowledgeable. My roast chicken was excellent and the panisse were absolutely perfect this last visit. I still dream about a spring risotto special I had years ago. The only thing I would note is the noise level. It can get very loud if it's busy.
Great food and great value. Seating was a little chaotic and crowded where we sat.
Had to ask several times for a condiment. Music and noise level too loud. Was cold in the restaurant so they turned off AC. Food just OK not great for the price. Steak undercooked, chicken fatty.
We had an 8PM reservation on Sunday, January 26, 2020. We were seated immediately upon entering the restaurant. The entire staff was warm and welcoming. The food was served in a timely manner and was delicious! We had the calamari and crab fritters, the Classic Platter and bass from the Raw Bar menu, scallops, brussel sprouts, and macaroni. For dessert we had the fried apple pie and the brownie. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Will definitely eat here again during my next visit.
