Paesanos - River Walk
Fabulous good and service!
Our waiter, Jimmy was the best! Food was pretty good and was a needed break from everything Mexican on the riverwalk.
Good food, but almost too much plated sloppy.
This is very good place for Italian food. Everyone like their dish and it was well worth the piece.
Thought the food was good, I had a steak and it was prepared to order, rare. My wife had seafood dish she thought it was excellent, very pleased with her meal. We were seated inside very nice and cool and able to see the riverwalk
I’ve eaten at the other locations and always been so pleased with the food and never hesitate to take guests visiting in town. We will never revisit the Riverwalk location. The food was terrible. Definitely not what we have come to expect from Paesano’s.
If you want a pleasant ambience or romantic evening this restaurant can not provide that. The restaurant reduce the size of table to accommodate more patrons thus in the small area it’s difficult to have a soft romantic conversation without anyone hearing you. Also if you are celebrating any bday just know they don’t offer any complementary cake or cheesecake nor do they sing. You will be offered a mini cannoli. I’m grateful but just want you to know how our experience went.
Our food was tasty but mine felt as if it was held for awhile lukewarm when served.
Everything was good until the waiter chased us down the river walk and yelled at us for not tipping him enough.
Fun experience on the San Antonio River Walk. Food was very good. Server was good as well.
Nice Italian restaurant with views of the river walk. Large portions of food. Meats were additional costs. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
Fabulous pasta dishes with vegan options! Steaks were flavorful and cooked to the proper temp! Will come back next time we are in San Antonio!
Wonderful food, service, and location!
The River Walk location can always be problematic with busy crowds and outdoor tables but this visit was not as positive as other visits to Paesanos. The waiter seemed spread too thin with several large tables during a bust evening, even though we went early to try and beat the crowds.
We had a 6pm reservation for our anniversary on a Saturday evening. Arrived at 6, table was reserved and waiting directly on the riverwalk with fresh orchids and the BEST server! Best seat in the house. Food was great, scenery was even better!
Always the best! This is one of our favorite places to visit on the river walk. Thanks for a special time.
Buen lugar para comer, el ambiente se siente y además la comida se disfruta.
We were disappointed with Paesanos. From the reviews we read, we expected a very good, if not excellent, experience. The appetizer was their featured Paesano Shrimp which consisted of three lightly breaded shrimp and some lemon sauce. The shrimp were nicely prepared, but certainly nothing to write home about (unless, perhaps, the price). A dinner of Ahi Tuna came out of the kitchen too well done and literally too tough to be eaten. The Penne Arrabiata was below par. The sauce tasted exactly like canned tomato sauce with little trace of seasoning. This was offset by a few tasty Kalamata olives and some fresh basil leaves. The overall impression was that the food was not prepared by anyone even vaguely qualified to be a chef. The waiter was gone for long periods of time and passing waiters had to be summoned to request his presence. For what was offered, it was quite expensive, too. There are dozens of good restaurants along the Riverwalk. Choose one of them until this one gets its act together again.
The server admitted he wasn't good!!! The food was average. I guess if you are on the Riverwalk you don't have to try hard. It didn't feel like the restaurant tried at all. I have been there before -- definitely on a downhill slide
The food here was great an the waiter was very good
Food wasn’t great like it used to be. Overpriced.
Service was excellent and attentive, food was timely and delicious. Value was solid for being right on the river walk.
Overall, I would recommend this restaurant with some reservations.
The waiter was attentive, pleasant, and efficient. My companion had the appetizer portion of the Shrimp Paesano which is one of their signature dishes. Although it was very tasty, it was a bit expensive at $15 for 3 shrimp. I had the cheese tortellini in a basil pesto sauce. It was good but not anything special.
We were VERY disappointed with the "artisan" bread that was served with a dish of olive oil, pepper, and parmesan. It was a small loaf of tasteless white bread. I'm not sure when they switched from the true artisan bread they used to serve to this bread, as it has been awhile since I've been to Paesanos, but I was shocked. Also, it was only 7pm, but they had run out of cheesecake which is one of their most popular desserts. It was one of the reasons we chose to eat at Paesanos. Another disappointment. If you know that it's so popular, why wouldn't you be sure to have enough of it to meet your demand?
If I were to try Paesanos again, I would go to their Lincoln Heights location.
The waiter brought a free desert for my fiancé for his birthday. It was great food and we had a great time. Perfect!
Service was poor and food was poor. We ordered a salad for $20 came with 3 small strips of chicken and a brown tomato and brown lettuce. Server was poor. He never checked back with us, someone else delivered food, he did not check if everything came out ok. We called him over to ask a question and he literally said, “is that all, i have other tables.” He was cheerful and polite when saying goodbye but terrible the rest of the meal. I don’t expect a lot from riverwalk dining but this was REALLY bad!
Dirty and smelly
Server was exceptional, food was not. $12 for a sorry wilted Caesar salad and I’ve had better eggplant parm out of a frozen box.
Good bread at an Italian restaurant is a requisite - but not here. Bread was undercooked and non-crusty. The pasta dishes were just plain marginal to poor.
Looked for a nice place with good ratings nearby on Yelp and once again wasn’t disappointed! Meal by myself for Father’s Day due to being here for a conference was as good as it could be. Sat near water on the Riverwalk. Waiter was excellent and had a good conversation and he gave some great tips on other places to try while in town. Had their signature dish the Shrimp Paesano, and did everything but lick the plate it was that good!
Everything was great except the cleanliness. The floor was wet. There were napkins on the floor and the table was wet.
My girlfriend and I loved Paesanos. This was our very first time dinning at the restaurant and I was very impressed with everything. Upon arriving, my girlfriend did not know where we would be having dinner. Once we saw the place for ourselves, it was better than we expected. The ambiance was very romantic and we recieved excellent service from our waiter. We enjoyed their service and ambiance so much, that we consider Paesanos our favorite restaurant and we would be happy to return for another date.
We went here to celebrate our anniversary which was kindly acknowledged by the hostess. We sat outside, having to wait 10 minutes before being acknowedged by our waiter, but he did tell us happy anniversary. Then we had to wait several more minutes before getting just some water at the table. Wanting to talk to our waiter about selecting a bottle of wine, we had to keep looking around for him, and finally got his attention to place our wine order. It again took him a long while to return, and finally we were able to place our food order. When the dinner salads arrived, both had lettuce that was room temperature, like they had been sitting out unrefrigerated. We then received our entrees, one of which was just lukewarm at best. We continued to have trouble getting our waiter's attention, even for a water refill. We never mentioned any of these issues, as we figured it would take too long to get his attention and receive the corrected food item. We did notice he asked a group at a table nearby if they'd like dessert, but never asked us about dessert; just brought us our bill. We were especially surprised at this since he knew it was our anniversary. We left thinking, after being at Paesanos numerous times in the past, we had never experienced this low level of service and meal issues, like we had at this visit. Very disappointed!
Food wasn't very good at all for as much as you pay
Always a favorite restaurant when we visit San Antonio...the Shrimp Paesano never disappoints.
Took 40 mins after being seated and asking 3 times for bread. Bottled drinks were warm and we waited an hour and a half for our food. Food wasn’t that great either. Lasagna is pretty much a block of meat and one lasagna noodle. It was gross.
Food was awesome! Service was less than stellar.
Attentive service and very good food. I appreciate the history and the local vs chain experience.
Thank to the very accommodating manager who saved the evening for my party.
Pizza crust warm, cheese cold bairly melted. Little Caesar's is better. Alfredo too garlicy got mushrooms and not enough. Shrimp paesanos appetizer only get 3 shrimp! For $16! Tasted prefab, tons of garlic. In general, not worth the money. Olive garden better and cheaper, and Olive Garden not that great. Service good, atmosphere great.
We had a lovely dinner here. The location is unbeatable.
Great food. A little pricey but you get what you pay for!!!
