We were late to our original reservation on Valentine’s Day, but they were extremely accommodating & were able to find us another table. This location is a little difficult to get to during commuting hours, so plan accordingly. The space was beautiful & had a romantic ambiance.

The food was, of course, delicious but was pricey for the amount of food you get. You may leave feeling just right or still hungry. The sake was my favorite part because of the large variety they offer. Take your server’s recommendation if you’re unsure.

Overall, I would only go here for a special occasion because of the price. If you go here, I’m confident you can’t go wrong with anything you choose off the menu. Just expect the portions to be small and the price to be big.

What we ordered - dinner for 2 for ~$200 with tip:
- Nishida, denshu
- Hanabi, osusume
- Gyu, ippin-mono
- Ozumo, maki-mono
- Chocolate fondue

This is a very large restaurant. A whole block deep from Steuart Street to the Embarcadero. Beautifully and expensively designed. I wonder how many people they have on staff preparing and serving the food and drinks. It must be quite a large number of people.

Years ago, I went to Ozumo relatively frequently and always loved it. Returned with my husband for a special occasion and was quite disappointed. Found the food to be average/overpriced for the quality and portions as compared with other SF favorite sushi bars. Service was unfriendly and very disappointing overall. Had to ask for chopsticks and a plate 3 times (no apology). Given the price point here, my expectations for both the quality of sushi and service were much, much higher. We will not return.

Great experience! Loved the chef’s choice moriawase sushi and sake flights, but the gindara cod was our favorite! The service was excellent and our waiter had fantastic recommendations. The only downside is the whole meal was definitely overpriced. It would be a good spot to go on someone else’s dime, like a nice business meal.

Would love to go back and try their omakase menu; we didn’t have enough time (2.5 hours) for that experience.

I haven't been dining in the City as much lately, so I was excited to come to Ozumo for lunch. Good to see they have maintained their focus on high quality, beautifully-presented items. The tables are fairly widely separated, which makes for a nice Japanese design aesthetic. We got the seaweed salad (even that was beautiful, featuring pickled daikon and 3 types of seaweed, including a burgundy colored one) and a hamachi belly appetizer with radishes and jalapenos. Those were fantastic. Then we had a second course where we split the "Wagyu beef sashimi" (tender, moist, delicious), toro tuna sampler (also delicious), and a small, perfectly done portion of miso-cooked black cod that was the standout of the trio. My friend was still hungry, so we added a couple more sushi orders that were fine but unnecessary IMO. The best part: My friend was paying with the corporate card so I didn't have to see the bill!

Great food! Black Cod is a must do.

Our experience was great. The food was delicious, the view is beautiful too. At first, our waiter was slow to come, but the manager was walking around and immediately saw us not getting taken care of and she turned our experience around 180 degrees. She made food recommendations and we loved everything so much that we also had dessert, which we never do. She even brought us an extra dessert to try which was even better than what we chose. We left very happy. Overall I think the restaurant is great. The waiter who served us definitely needs to be trained that when you have this many tables you have to move faster to keep up, I’m not sure if he is inexperienced or was just having a tough day, but we didn’t even learn his name. But other waiters seemed to be quick and with the manager saving the day for us it was definitely a great experience.
We had our wedding rehearsal dinner at this restaurant last year and they came through at the time as well. Service at the time was fantastic by the way, they were just wonderful. And we still get compliments on the food from our guests. So when we were in town again it was a no brainer of where to go eat. It’s a neat place. We will definitely be back for more!

I was recommended this place as one of best places for Sushi. To be clear, I like sushi but I seem to like it from less posh places. So maybe I just don't know what good sushi is, or I have terrible taste. This one was good, but not necessarily better than I what I use to have (just a place near work in which you eat for $14 or so), and 3x the price.
Service was excellent though, as I liked that it was really quiet inside.

Food: Average Sushi and service. Nice bar. When you have reservation, they try to get additional $$ by letting you artificially wait at at the bar even if there are free tables in the back.

I had never been here before and I was very impressed with the staff as t their politeness and friendliness. all greeted us both in and on the way out. I had the tiger prawn tempura, which was presented beautifully and my friend had the salmon bento box. I was going to have the bento box but I am a small eater and my dining companion loved it - she had to slip the rice (she ate a bit) because of a diet, but said it was perfect and ate everything else. even the tempura was a full meal. Oh, and we had the miso which had fresh mushrooms, sliced very thin and quite delicious. It was my friend's birthday but she was on a diet so we did not check out the dessert. Their Saki menu seems larger than their food menu, so if you are into Saki, this may be the place to go.
