This was right in the beginning before SIP and the restaurant was pretty empty. We were happy to support such an enthusiastic team , however. Everyone was gracious and lovely and the food was awesome. We were regulars at the Oakland Ozumo which closed a few years ago much to our disappointment but it’s nice to come to SF for our fix ! Attached to Harbor Court Hotel where we spent our wedding weekend in 2017 ! Love !!!

Always a good visit at Ozumo...gotta get the A5 although this visit it would appear the slices are thinner than before, still delicious nonetheless. The service is above and beyond. I have always felt warm and welcomed here. The sushi chefs even carved animal shapes out of thinly sliced radish for my toddler. Definitely a must try if you haven't been here before!
They've just started offering a Chef's Menu. Nightly multi-course meal with delightful choices. Small sized/right sized, beautifully prepared and served. Delicious flavors and a real adventure. We'll do it again next time we're there!
Went to Ozumo on a Saturday night and we ate in the bar area. Very comfortable and casual. Wait staff was very friendly and explained her favorites on the menu. Will definitely go back again.
Food was very good....but very expressive.
Mel and his staff are the best. The food and drink menu is terrific.

Sushi and Dobin Mushi was quite disappointing. The last time I came I remember the food was way better.

Better than I recall on my two prior visits! Great selection of Japanese cuisine - all we had was very tasty including dessert. Strong sake list as well. And our server was very attentive all evening. Thanks Ozumo.

Very good sushi. Great for a work dinner or lunch. Very expensive though. Not great value when considering the ample amount of sushi options in San Francisco. For example, one roll is $20. Kinda absurd compared to the market.
Nice place to have a business lunch. Not too loud to have productive conversation over good food.

Sad to see this restaurant has lost it. Came here for sushi lunch fish is rather tasteless (lacked natural fresh fish flavors). Perhaps no one is checking in coming quality or no one is checking their suppliers quality. The ozumo roll's sauce is offensive: thick, overly sweet and sticky not only overpowers the ingredients but also fills you up.
The food was fabulous. The black cod especially fabulous. We loved the ambiance and the service was outstanding.

Overpriced, mediocre fish quality, accompanied by a really bad waiter service. The waiter pushed me out of her way to point at something on the menu, which I've never experienced before. No personalized omakase experience whatsoever...Not coming back ever again.

Really nice experience which was the combination of an enthusiastic waiter and great food.
Server had attitude problem. The grilled food was overcooked like charcoal.
We had a birthday celebration there. I had requested the table with the view of the Bay Bridge. The hostess greeted us, mentioning the birthday and showed us to our table. Beautiful view indeed. We decided to do the chefs menu which was $150 per person. We got to try each of their specialty items and more. It was a lot of food and it was done really well. Beautiful presentation! They even were able to accommodate a pretty significant food allergy for one person in our party and she felt very much included in the options presented. Our server was excellent.
I stopped by for lunch and the food is very good. Because of restaurant week they were very busy and it took a while for me to get my food which initially made me reconsider my choice. The staff and management were very apologetic for the delay and on their own accord offered to comp my meal. This awareness of the management completely reaffirmed my faith in this restaurant as they truly value your patronage. I will be going back again soon.
It was restaurant week here in San Francisco, and it's time to take advantage of some great deals from some of the top tier restaurants in the city. Ozumo is one of the great ones!
Working from the Two Embarcadero Center, Ozumo was a nice little walk away from the office. The SF Restaurant week included 2 courses. The first was a choice of Yasai (veggie) Gyoza or Karaage; and the second was Gyu (Beef) Bento or Mifune (sushi tray). I went with the Karaage and Bento, and it was amazing!
To start, the karaage (fried popcorn chicken) was crispy on the outside and the chicken was really moist and juicy. When the bento came, there were a few slices of medium rare steak, salad, tempura, rice, pickles and the portions were just right. The flavors were on point and it is totally worth coming back.
If there was a problem/complaint that I could bring up, is that the food took FOREVER. We were at the restaurant for almost 2 hours because of this. Also, it's not something that is too critical, but the people that ordered the Mifune, they got the sushi before the appetizer Gyoza. On top of that, they were waiting for the rest of the tables appetizers to come out. It felt poorly planed. It doesn't feel like the fault of the server either, as she would keep walking by with more water, and pouring out sake for the table and was wondering where the food was. Definitely a break in communications somewhere there.
All that being said, the restaurant is totally worth trying at least once. I plan on coming back in the future to share the flavors with friends and family that decide to come by and visit.
They misadvertised the Restaurant Week meny as $40's and it was in the $60s range instead. We opted for a à la carte. Portions were small and while the scallops were good, the rolls were unremarkable. Server seemed disappointed that we weren't dining on an expense account. Fabulous sake recommendation, but I wasn't impressed with the food.

Excellent lunchtime experience. Restaurant Week menu was delicious and generously portioned. Service excellent, ambiance warm and lively, if a bit overly resonant and noisy (really the only notable negative). I would call the view “partially obstructed”, but nice enough. Otherwise, a solid 4.5 across the board.
Food was good. Not great. For $55 the sashimi platter was not great. Fish cut into very thick slabs which I don’t love.
Service was terrible. Ordered the edamame with garlic and soy. Didn’t get it. So asked about it. And they finally delivered the regular salted. When I asked the gal for what we ordered she said “but this was what was on the ticket” So had to ask again. Finally got it towards end of meal. Also ordered waters. We also had to ask for those and they arrived at the end.
I asked for more wasabi as just a tiny bit on the plate. They forgot to bring that too. So I asked again.
Overall we spent a lot of time looking to catch the eye of the waitress who didn’t like to look over. Strange as the restaurant wasn’t that busy.
She never even asked us if we had what we needed after the entree came. Strange because if you charge $55 for one very unimpressive entree I would think you’d try to make up for it with great service.
She was kind enough not to charge us for the edamame. Which is good as it was brought at the end.
I’ve been there a number of times and generally love this place. So hoping this was just an off day.
It was great except it was super overpriced and we still weren’t full after the meal
