Excellent food -- top quality nigiri. Portions for appetizers and main courses a little small, but overall outstanding cuisine. Wait staff was solid. Good atmosphere and cool bar area.
Through clients and friends this was highly recommended to me. I decided to go for my birthday and sadly I was very disappointed. I found the whole experience “tired.”
The food, the slow service our table placement. Just not the experience I had been told about and it was just very disappointing.
One and done for me.
Expected better based on recommendations. Food was fresh, but serving sizes were small. Our server forgot to put one of our items in our order, and did not check in us once the food was delivered so did not correct the issue till the end of the meal.
Great food and experience . Beautiful presetation and the quality of the food is excellent.
Nice food although some items are a bit overpriced, service could have been better but can't complain since the overall experience was pretty satisfactory
I chose Ozumo because a friend from overseas was visiting. I made a reservation for 7:45. There was also a 7:30 availability. We got a drink and table in the bar at 7pm. At 7:40, I went to the host/hostess reception and they said it would be a few minutes. At 8:00, I checked back and still not table. At 8:15 it was getting to be a bit ridiculous. By now, we were hungry and ready to eat. She said we could eat in the bar. So, we went back to the table and waited for 10-min and there was no one waiting on us. We were going to leave and find another place. The hostesses seemed confused and disorganized and there was absolutely no attention being paid to us. When we were about to go, they said they had a table. We were seated in a busy part of the restaurant by the entry hallway next to a very large group. It was noisy. Food was so-so. When one makes a reservation, you expect to be seated close to that time. Or, if not, then "taken care of". This did not happen and I will not be back. Used to be one of my favorite places but Ozumo really let us down.
They change sushi bar and dining, beautiful and comfortable space.
I like more than before.
Fantastic experience, loved it
Ozumo is one of the best Japanese Sushi restaurant in the Bay Area, the one in SF. Some of the dishes are unique, but if you like your classic Sushi restaurant cuisine, you can have all that here, too. They have an extensive saki list. But it's quite expensive, figure about three to four times the price of your typical sushi restaurant. So although the quality is exceptional, it's now worth the price.
Excellent food, outstanding service and beautiful presentations.
Amazing - ce fut un moment exceptionnel
A recommander absolument
Have been to Ozumo several times over the past ten years whenever my wife and I have visited San Francisco. We have always enjoy our dinners there and this time was no exception. The food was fresh and well prepared as always, our server was knowledgeable and friendly and the ambience was pleasant as usual. We plan to return.
I had lunch @Ozumo many times before. Today was my first time to try their new menu. I ordered Kurosawa. The portion is smaller and the quality of sushi is subpar... They raised the price as well. Very disappointed.
Amazing service and food. Loved the new menu. I took my 4 year old son for dinner and the staff were so lovely and accommodating
Overpriced and sushi was only above average. Sashimi was $35 and was not great
Ozumo recently closed for a quick remodel and also a redo of their menu. We were very disappointed in the new menu. We tried a number of the new items and were let down by everyone--bland and unexciting.
The service was great, as usual, and the room/setting is inviting, as always. They seated us at a quiet table as we requested and the service was unhurried allowing us to catch up with our friend but, oh what a let down on the food front
very tasty food. all portions were excellent or very good at least. service was prompt, cordial and efficient. the garlic edamame is a great campaign to a drink.we ordered 8 dishes for 4 people and it was just about the right amount. great presentation.
Ozumo is one of our top favorite Japanese restaurants in the Bay Area. Although pricey, the food and service are great. It’s a bit east meets west with fondue on the menu for dessert.....
Very good Japanese food with a new style and fresh tastes. Outstanding locations and very nice people
very disappointed in new menu, over priced for very modest portions
We had a wonderful dinner. Each course was wonderful, beautifully served and filled with crisp and dramatic flavors.
While there were many menu choices, we were sad that the current menu is considerably shorter than the previous menu.
We were excited to visit the Santana Row restaurant, but it has an even shorter menu. We won’t eat there often.
an AMAZING restaurant! .... had both excellent tasting and great quality food along with impeccable customer service! everything from traditional sushi to the specialty dishes did not disappoint. it was a GREAT experience!
Went there for a buddies bachelor party. The food was so good! The salmon melts in your mouth. I’ll definitely be going back soon!
Despite the fact I specifically asked if I shoukd order things as I ate, to avoid getting everything at once, since I said I was not in a hurry, the waiter said not to worry, they would bring things out separately and not rush. They did not and piled everything in front of me. This is the best way to kill someone's apetite and dining experience. This waiter killed mine... ugh!!!!
Excellent service, delicious and quality sushi, worth the price!
It was ok.
Service was slow and forgetful.
Food taste like any other sushi restaurant.
Wagyu dish was $100 for maybe 10 tiny slices of meat.
They left the cast iron on the table for 20 minutes after we finished the entree, leaving the left over butter to burn and smoke everywhere.
Definitely room for improvement.
The service was horrible! I expected impeccable service being that the menu was so expensive. I planned on coming for a nice meal with great service. Instead we sat for over an hour before we received our sushi and when it came it looked like it had been sitting out for a while. The restaurant was not busy as it was 9pm. The pictures in their website are super deceiving. The food served looked nothing like the pictures. They forgot one of our orders and the manager said she would take care of the bill. At the end the bill was brought to the table minus the item they had to remake for us. Over all a negative experience and I wouldn’t return. I can go to any sushi bar for half the price and probably much better service and food. Era disappointed. Sushi lovers beware
Tried it during the recent business trip. Service was attentive from everyone: hostess, bartender, and waiters. I visited the place twice: once we sat at the bar and once at a long table in front of the windows. Food was amazing. The sushi rolls very fresh, even though I am accustomed to the freshest sushi in Seattle. The quality surpasses average Seattle sushi places. The food and drinks are pricey but worth it in my opinion.
We've been to Ozumo numerous times but it's been a while....it seems to be a very different restaurant now. The sushi was mediocre at best. The overall restaurant looked dated. And the service was slow even thought the restaurant wasn't busy. The only thing that hasn't changed are the high prices. Needless to say, we were disappointed.
The food was very good, and the space itself was bright and inviting. The service was on the slow side, with tables arriving after us being attended to first.
Ozumo is always a must-do for whenever I am in SF, usually 3 times a year. We have celebrated my daughter’s birthday, had family reunions, business meeting gs and just friends and fam.
The food is outstanding, fresh and mostly the service is great. On this occasion the Santa Barbara Uni was simply divine, and the wagyu cooked on the table in truffle butter an incredible treat. Can’t wait for the next time !
Second time there. It wants to be nobu but doesn’t get there. Main limit is the hot dishes came out just warm. All else ok, though seaweed salad too heavily based on cilantro. Best feature is space between the tables.
Overall, a very good experience however I’ve had better roles and it’s very expensive. We were there for several hours. They have an impressive yet overwhelming sake selection. The service and presentation was outstanding but they need more spice on their menu. Might recommend happy hour to save a few bucks but great for a special occasion.
My husband and I had our anniversary dinner here on a weeknight. The hostess called ahead and offered to hold a booth seat for us in the lounge area, which we accepted and was a great idea. Very thoughtful on their part. Food was great and the sake selection even better. The manager was wonderful and made us feel at home. Great experience
Ozumo pleases time and time again. After 10+ visits for business meals, special events and the occasional date night, I have found the service and food to be spectacular every time. Superior options of Japanese delicacies with the ambiance of a high-end Tokyo restaurant. Just look at this sashimi! Shabu Shabu is also a favorite of mine here. Do not hesitate!
Hadn't gone here in about a decade, but the food was almost as good as back then. We were lucky as they put us in a private room. I don't mind to return.
Food was great, as usual. Table service was very good, but waited forever at the bar. It wasn’t busy, they just weren’t paying attention.
My first and only lunch experience at Ozumo was excellent. Food, service . . . everything.
I love Ozumo! Have been there probably 10 times now, and it’s amazing every time. Perfect service, food, and atmosphere. Favorite sushi spot in the city, hands down.
