After a giant screw up from the hostess, the wait staff and food were excellent. Arriving with a reservation, I was ignored and forgotten while many people who arrived after me were seated. The hostess then tried to seat me at a table in the bar (rather than the main dining room) without acknowledging her screw up of not seating me promptly in the first place. When I complained she tried to interrupt me and not acknowledge her mistake. Eventually the general manager stepped in and “found” me a table. After that mess, the food was great and the table server was great as well.
It was fine but nothing special. .. But way overpriced
Very good food, nice service! We discovered new type of food and even the dessert (coffee ice cream and donuts) was great!
The toro was good but the other dishes had no flavor. On the filet mignon dish, the accompanying dandelion greens had a significant amount of sand in it. We were comped it and the manager (who tasted it) was extremely apologetic. We had been once before and thought it was amazing. The other night obviously not so much.
Outstanding experience. Tables are a bit close for private conversations. Outstanding service. Great suggestions and help with menu for a balanced meal. Presentation and flavors were exceptional. The dipping sauce was outstanding. Well paced service. Great location. Looking forward to a return hopefully soon!
best ramen i’ve had!!!!
Fantastic service and wonderful food - hard to beat
Ozumo is our favorite Japanese restaurant in San Francisco. An amazing view of the Bay Bridge and unparalleled Japanese cuisine make this a must see in the city. Get the Shabu Shabu - you won’t regret it!
Amazing food. But the server kept trying to add things on to our order. We received 3 dishes that wasn’t even ours, we didn’t eat it but they charged us for it. After telling the manager we received a refund.
Friend had a 24 hour layover from Paris to San Diego
Best Black Cod I have ever eaten!!! Service was Great!!!!
Alway’s a pleasure and of-course We are very much looking forward to our next Visit to Ozumo
Very very disappointed with the quality of the sashimi Toro. I've had much much better for the price paid.
Way too much money for mediocre food. Did not live up to the hype
This was our second visit and we were excited to be back. We were seated and after a little while our waitress checked to see how we were. She was rushed and seeing we were looking at the menu said she’d be back. Now the last time we were there the waitress we had was very helpful in choosing a sake. This waitress was nothing like that. She was so rushed and when they sat a group of four near us, her attention turned to them and we didn’t really exist. After 20 minutes we able to order our food and drink. We watched our neighbors get their dishes and even though we ordered before them, our food seemed to take too long. We finally received the chefs choice sashimi platter and were disappointed. For 120.00 the fish slices were small and were ok. We’ve had much tastier sashimi at other places. We also ordered two rolls and had to ask the guy filling our glasses to find out when we’d get it. The waitress finally brought it out and again the food was ok. Now by then we had watched our waitress drop by the neighboring table 7-8 time. Never acknowledging us or asking if we needed anything. We would have ordered a lot more food but we were done. We asked for our check and left. We will not return.
Great experience. Food was delicious. Would go back any time.
I didn't realise 9:15pm was considered late to dine on a Saturday night in SF - but here it apparently is. So as advised by our server we chose rapidly and didn't 'linger' as long as I would have liked over the sumptuous and tasty sushi and amazing sake. It wasn't the experience I had hoped for for a celebratory dinner but no complaints about the food selection at all.
The fact that this restaurant exists is a crime. The sushi looked like it fell off a truck into the desert and marinated in the heat for a few days. Disgusting all around
Not very good. Spent $100 on nine pieces of very average raw fish. Soy sauce is thin and tasteless.
Amazing sushi, brilliant atmosphere and great service - highly recommend!
Outstanding Japanese cuisine featuring a varied menu in a modern setting with a terrific view of the Bay Bridge. The service was informed and efficient, the bar well stocked with a great list of sake. The tables are far enough apart that despite being quite full, the restaurant wasn't especially noisy. It's definitely pricey but it's a good value for the money.
They were testing the fire alarms during lunch time. Twice. Super annoying!
My best restaurant In California!
I eat at Ozumo almost everytime I am in San Francisco over the past seven years. Top notch Sushi and a great staff led by Mel. Highly recommend.
Good food and great setting! Server was very rude. Asked her for recommendations and she stated she doesn’t know what we like so she’ll just give us more time and walked off before we were able to respond. Set the tone for a mediocre visit to what was a great day of accomplishments up until this point. Not sure I’ll go back.
I can't say there was anything that makes this retaurant stand out over the others, maybe the decor? Views of the bridge was obstructed with the beautiful wooden walls. It might have been different at night. Wish it has larger windows, but that might take away from the feel of Ozumo.
The kozara was a nice beginning, dohyo was tasty, and the sekiwake was good, but tasted odd with the peanut sauce. Next time, I think I will try the Gindara (black cod).
The best part was the delcious dessert, that is all that stands out from the restaurant for my wife and me. It was a nice touch they gave us champage as it was an anniversary, but it was missing bubbles :)
One of our favorites!
Everything was fantastic. Miso cod is a must. The tempura perfectly light. Nigiri and sashimi were fresh. Also must have the calamari two way. Our server made a very good and reasonable saki suggestion.
Food was pretty good -- though our servings came out about 10 min apart, which is weird for a lunch for two. Not the end of the world of course.
I love Ozumo! Really sad the Oakland location closed, but the San Francisco restaurant is great as well. The food is always so lovely, and really creative. If you sit by the windows there is a nice view of the Bay Bridge and Treasure Island. All of the staff is friendly and attentive, but I’d like to call out Brandon in particular for being incredible! We had a couple food allergies (peanuts and soy) in the group and he was so accommodating and helped us order around our allergies. He really looked out for us and we had a delicious meal and a really nice time.
Amazing food but it is quite expensive. That said, it's worth the experience.
Ozumo was a favorite of mine years ago. Our experience tonight was fine, and they gave us a great table with a view of the Bay...but the old magic was clearly gone. The food tasted okay. Perhaps not as fresh as it used to. The sushi fish seemed frozen and watery - definitely not recently caught. The flavors were generally weak. Most of our dishes needed a bit more salt or spice. It wasn't a bad experience, but for the price I expected better.
Great place to go on your own. The food is very fresh and service is first class.
The staff were superb! We had a service dog in training with us and they were incredibly accommodating. Lovely experience!
One of my favorite spots -- although I don't get their as regularly as I'd like! Sushi/Sashimi/Saki - oh my!! Staff excellent; if you need it, they will (always) provide a great description of the menu items. Great bar up front with consistently good cocktails!
Great service and food. Sake selection is outstanding.
Ask about their specials, best value.
Been here a number of times. Food and service always excellent. Upbeat atmosphere and great view of the Bay Bridge.
While vacationing in San Francisco, we've come to depend upon a stay at the Harbor Court Hotel and dinner at Ozumo. Both places are stellar.
Ozumo offers traditional Japanese dishes and modern, creative ones, too. From the sake to the appetizers, sushi, main dishes, and dessert, every bite is a taste sensation.
Service is excellent as well, with a clear explanation of offerings, to the presentation of them, everyone aims to please the customers and treat them as guests.
Terrific selection of sake and sushi - one of the few places I’ve been outside Japan where they serve more than one kind of uni (and both were delicious). They even take edamame to the next level with their garlic version. Every one of the staff we met - from the bartender to the waiter - was incredibly friendly and accommodating - really went above and beyond and were great dealing with special dietary issues (gluten free). Was too full for dessert, but my son thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate cake. Will definitely return next time I’m in SF.
