Party of 5 for lunch had a automatic 20% gratitude added to the bill but received horrible service. Had to go looking for our waiter several times who did not get our order right and never followed up to see if everything was ok with the food, and on top of that the bill was incorrect. Ozumo touts all of the qualities they claim set them apart from other Bay Area Japanese restaurants but service is not one of them.
Manager and bus boy were excellent. Waiter not so much. Manager serviced the table most of the night.
Mel Colin’s and the crew are the best in the Bay Area. Food is amazing. Best sushi in SF by far.
The waiter is very formal, and he doesn’t allow for any substitution as simple as substitute the rice with Lettus. The food taste is below average compared to when I used to go to Ozumo 6-8 years ago.
This place is so overpriced for what you get! 18/20 dollars for 6 rolls of sushi. Skewers are 7 dollars for about 6/7 tiny peppers and 2 mushrooms. Service is v slow but nice. It is a place to go on your corporate dinners not for pleasure. Wouldn’t go again.
Demasiado lleno , muy mal servicio, y exageradamente caro, no lo vale
Way over priced. All else ok.
Our 5th visit at Ozumo!
We have never been deceived!
great food but bery expensive
Food was amazing.. but our waitress did not greet nor serve us for about 10-13 min. I had to ask the manager (who was walking around greeting tables) for some water. Waitress finally took our order. The food was amazing once we were done she didn’t offer us any dessert and just brought us out the check. I’ve ate here before and the service is always excellent. I guess this time was just some bad luck.
The best sushi I’ve had in SF! Fresh fish, amazing service, beautiful scenery and ambiance. Definitely on the pricier side so great for special occassions!
Izumi is a nice place w good food, however over the years it got too expensive, I was on my own and really took very few food and drinks, and the low to average price items on the menu, but I handed up w a bill of 135$ which is crazy
Greatest Sake list in the country. Incredible pairings. For best bet, splurge and let the Sushi chefs choose your dinner.
Was very underwhelmed by this restaurant. The fish was okay- definitely overpriced for the quality. Would not recommend for seasoned sushi eaters. Would recommend for un-experienced sushi eaters with low expectations who are looking for overpriced options. Other than the quality and price point - service and ambiance was great.
This is probably the best sushi bar in California, if not the country (and it’s much more than sushi) this is a special place, but not just for special occasions. Live it up! :)
Overall, the experience at Ozumo was incredible. I went there for a birthday dinner with my partner and she loved it. The food was spectacular, the sake choices were immense and so was their wine. Preparation of the dishes were also aesthetically pleasing. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for quality Japanese cuisine
So good, all the time.
Our server was terrific. If you’re seated in the area by main sushi bar it is VERY loud!!!! Nearly impossible to have a conversation.
Sushi was very good, although a bit pricy.
Spent a ton on dinner. Service was rushed and our waitress assumed we wanted things that’s we never asked for. Portions were tiny. Sake was brought out cold when we ordered a $30 bottle of hot sake. They took away the last of our edimame(the only thing helping to fill us up). All
In all I would Look elsewear for a nice dinner/date.
Freshest sushi I’ve ever had! Bucho Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll. Lovely aesthetic, gorgeous view of the bay.
We had a nice time.
Initially, we came for happy hour. We didn’t realize that if we sat at a table, happy hour prices would not be available.
Great place for a group work dinner. Would be WAY too expensive if we had to pay ourselves (we expensed it). Came out to ~$150 per person and we didn't even eat that much. The waygu was AMAZING and they cook it in front of you. We got several desserts and all agreed the choco-choco was the best. Good cocktails but all on the sweeter side.
The food was frankly bad, the beef and the fish weren’t fresh at all.
We moved to another state 3 years and went back to Ozumo for lunch, for the wonderful ramen soups that were sold when the weather turned cool. Alas, they aren’t on the menu any longer! The waiter and I reminisced about several of them. The food we ordered was good, but not special, and rather expensive. The old decor was nicer, and the noise level was way too high. Sorry, but I like this place much better before.
A must visit when in San Francisco! I always dine here when I am in town for business. The food is amazing and so is the service.
The food was overpriced and disappointing. I would not come back.
Excellent food -- top quality nigiri. Portions for appetizers and main courses a little small, but overall outstanding cuisine. Wait staff was solid. Good atmosphere and cool bar area.
Not as innovative as I imagined but solidly good food and excellent service. Would go again.
Through clients and friends this was highly recommended to me. I decided to go for my birthday and sadly I was very disappointed. I found the whole experience “tired.”
The food, the slow service our table placement. Just not the experience I had been told about and it was just very disappointing.
One and done for me.
Expected better based on recommendations. Food was fresh, but serving sizes were small. Our server forgot to put one of our items in our order, and did not check in us once the food was delivered so did not correct the issue till the end of the meal.
Great food and experience . Beautiful presetation and the quality of the food is excellent.
Nice food although some items are a bit overpriced, service could have been better but can't complain since the overall experience was pretty satisfactory
I chose Ozumo because a friend from overseas was visiting. I made a reservation for 7:45. There was also a 7:30 availability. We got a drink and table in the bar at 7pm. At 7:40, I went to the host/hostess reception and they said it would be a few minutes. At 8:00, I checked back and still not table. At 8:15 it was getting to be a bit ridiculous. By now, we were hungry and ready to eat. She said we could eat in the bar. So, we went back to the table and waited for 10-min and there was no one waiting on us. We were going to leave and find another place. The hostesses seemed confused and disorganized and there was absolutely no attention being paid to us. When we were about to go, they said they had a table. We were seated in a busy part of the restaurant by the entry hallway next to a very large group. It was noisy. Food was so-so. When one makes a reservation, you expect to be seated close to that time. Or, if not, then "taken care of". This did not happen and I will not be back. Used to be one of my favorite places but Ozumo really let us down.
They change sushi bar and dining, beautiful and comfortable space.
I like more than before.
Fantastic experience, loved it
Ozumo is one of the best Japanese Sushi restaurant in the Bay Area, the one in SF. Some of the dishes are unique, but if you like your classic Sushi restaurant cuisine, you can have all that here, too. They have an extensive saki list. But it's quite expensive, figure about three to four times the price of your typical sushi restaurant. So although the quality is exceptional, it's now worth the price.
Every detail of the food was interesting and excellent -- superb flavors
Excellent food, outstanding service and beautiful presentations.
