Fantastic food, really cute interior, and very reasonable prices for DC. Loved it.
What a great place. Cute as can be with friendly staff and great food. I had the chef’s Sun special which was a pork stuffed Poblano pepper with a delicious white sauce and yucca inside. My friend had a chicken verde enchilada
that he enjoyed.
I would recommend this spot for great, not your run of the mill Mexican food. My classic Margarita was also delightful with a sweeter taste than I am used to found it quite pleasing. Tres Leche cake for a topper we also enjoyed
Awesome as always! Had a great table outside very safe from a covid perspective. Excellent food and excellent service! If you like cocktails be sure to get one with some kind of air it's magical!
Glad we were outside because the inside noise could cause deafness!
Longtime visitor to Oyamel; outdoor seating was very convenient and made us feel safe for COVID concerns. Food, as always, was perfection; service was great.
Delicious food, great service, lovely atmosphere. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great ambiance and stylish interior. Food felt a little pricey, more specifically the Tacos for $5.
Amazing food! Truly some of the best Mexican cuisine I’ve ever had including Mexico City.
Doubt if I will come back here. Very disappointing. First, food was incredibly salty. Everything was so oversalted that it was literally the only thing you could taste. I had a tomato salad and could barely taste the tomatoes because of the overwhelming burning saltiness. I don't know why most restaurants feel they need to salt food like they are prepping a highway for a blizzard, but Oyamel was especially egregious. I had a dish involving huitlachoche, but it was a salty, gloppy mess made with what looked like regular canned corn.
Finally, when the bill came, the price of the beer was incorrect, and as I had remembered the price from when I ordered it. I advised the waiter, and showed him the menu which I asked him to bring me, but he seemed very confused and called the manager over. After she eventually arrived, she looked at the bill and seemed annoyed to be bothered over what she thought was a trivial nuisance, but apologized and said she would remove the charge. I assumed that meant I wouldn't be charged for the beer, but when the tab eventually returned, she had taken the incorrectly priced beer off and added something called "open beer" at the correct price. So I spent about 15-20 minutes dealing with a small price discrepancy and I am confident that it's still in the computer at the incorrect price. It's interesting how these sorts of computer price discrepancies almost always favor the vendor, not the customer.
The restaurant was very noisy and it was made worse by the fact that our table was right beside the kitchen door, so the entire time we were there, there was constant traffic going by our table on a very narrow passageway. Not a good dining experience, especially on our anniversary.
Excellent food! Guacamole is fantastic, great chips and great salsa. The Oyamel margarita with the salt foam is a must try, amazing!
Great food, atmosphere, and staff! We will be back!
Excellent food and service. We ordered mostly from the happy hour menu and had great prices on drinks and food. We loved the margaritas and mojitos. The chicken and BBQ pork tacos were outstanding. We did splurge and got the guacamole off the regular menu & it was delicious. We plan to return during happy hour. It’s a great value!
The food was delicious and much better than your typical American-Mexican restaurant. The small dishes are bigger than tapas but not generally enough to be a meal on their own. The margaritas were tasty but portion size too small for the price. Overall the service was prompt and knowledgeable on the menu. Definitely will return in the future!
Food was amazing - kids and adults equally satisfied!
We had the pork, beef and bean tacos, pork belly quesadillas, and grilled skirt steak.
Excellent service and excellent food, Pomegranate Margaritas 🍹 was excellent.
Small plates with wonderful flavors blended together. We went with friends and enjoyed sharing plates
I’ve been to Oyamel dozens of times and it just keeps getting better.
Oyamel was a great brunch spot! Food was outstanding and margaritas the best ever! Once our server realized she was assigned to our table, service was very good- just took a bit to get started. I think when it first opened the ambiance was considered outstanding - maybe now needs a little updating. Overall, would definitely go again!
Wonderful as always.
The best in DC! Phenomenal flavors and ingredients in food and cocktails.
As always, incredible food, service, and ambiance.
Amazing food. Service was incredible.
Oyamel is one of my favorite restaurants in the DC area but last night experience was a little disappointing.
The salsa with chips wasn't the usual delicious treat, the guacamole was not as flavorful, and the pollo taco was a little dry
Exceptional food and service. Everything we ordered was delicious and served quickly. Will definitely return to try out all the other menu items.
Dinner was fantastic and so reasonably priced. Staff is doing everything to make things COVID safe. We felt comfortable and safe (as safe as we can with delta around). We love everything Jose Andres does. Oyamel did not disappoint.
The menu is creative, original and delicious. Of course, there are tacos--but the fillings are innovative and delicious. Love the small plates, no gargantuan portions that require you to take at least half home.
Everything we ate and drank was fabulous starting with Oyamel Margaritas and chips and salsa. Tamale was amazing as was cochinita pibil taco. Will be back when in DC.
We showed up for dinner during happy hour. Great value!
It was a relief to be someplace where everyone was vaccinated. The food as ever was super delicious and interesting. I had the yellow fin ceviche and the watermelon salad, guacamole, and the iconic Oyamel margarita. It made me think I can get through this crazy time.
Fantastic service, meal, and atmosphere as always!
So glad Oyamel is requiring proof of vaccine! And plastic barriers between booths was a great addition. Food was great And unique, as always, Though this was my first happy hour and the prices were surprisingly low. Attentive service. Fun atmosphere. Our go-to place before concerts, and it was enjoyable as always before Eagles last night!
Service was great food was awesome will definitely come back
Small plates were delicious! Excellent vegetarian selections as well as those who want meat dishes. The mixed drinks were excellent and nice selection. Brought out of town guests there who were pleased with the experience.
Service was exceptional.
Food amazing as always! Our waiter was attentive and helpful!
Outside eating is casual and pleasant. Waitstaff is kind and knowledgeable. Food wonderfully priced. Some items -- service, the salad really special. And many others are good but not great. We had a fine time in DC in a friendly and easy to navigate place. Will go again when in DC on a casual day. e==
It would have been perfect but the air conditioning was broken and too bad they didn’t tell us that when they called to confirm. We drove 45 min to take our children to a vaccine compliant restaurant only to find there was no air circulation. It was extremely hot and we ate fast, skipped dessert and couldn’t wait to get back in our car to cool off.
Food was so good! Our server was friendly and helpful. The restaurant even called me 5 minutes after we left to let me know that I’d left my umbrella. I look forward to returning :)
Move-in completed at Georgetown and we were so excited for our first visit back to Oyamel after cancelling a reservation for March 2020 due the pandemic. It was a long wait to return, but Oyamel did not disappoint! Most delicious guacamole and chips, BEST MOJITO EVER (Dorado mojito…2 pitchers!), lots of small plates that were all equally delicious! (not a single thing on the menu I wouldn’t recommend). Our server was training and did an excellent job! It was a wonderful experience from start to finish at our favorite restaurant in DC! So glad Oyamel is still thriving, and so grateful to Chef Jose Andres for all his efforts to make our country a kinder place.
Great RW dinner. All Vivid protocols in place. Proof of vaccination needed for inside dining.
