Delicious, loved the flavor and heat of the cauliflower. Octopus done perfectly.
Incredible food, perfect salt-air margs, and a delightful ambiance! The plexiglass barriers between tables didn't detract from the environment and actually made it so that we couldn't hear conversations from the tables next to us.
Delicious food and great service!
Some items were a little pricey.
Fish Tacos 🌮 Best in town hands down
What a delightful late lunch we enjoyed on a bustling Saturday afternoon at Oyamel! The Mexican Mimosas were great, the chilaquiles off the brunch menu were so tasty, and the service was friendly and attentive. My husband ordered four different tacos and enjoyed the fish taco most. Manager Hector was very kind to us, answering all our kiddo’s questions about the impressive candelabra and giving her a choice of dessert, on the house! If in D.C. again, we’ll go back to Oyamel!
The food and service was very good but when the hostess sat us, she told us we had an hour and 45 minutes to use the table. That did not make us happy
fried pork belly quesadillas were really really good. and the margaritas
Great food and service
Great Mexican restaurant. Food was very good and awesome drinks.
Excellent food as always. I’d love to see more plant based options in the menu. The pomegranate margarita is probably the best margarita I’ve ever had.
Lots of intriguing flavors, especially the salsa. Margaritas were excellent. The small plates were a nice way to try a variety of foods.
Maybe it’s just because of my age, but didn’t like the assumption that I would use my phone that look at the menu. Also the noise level at restaurants seems to be increasing. We go out with friends this have conversation as well as share a meal. Having to shout is not enjoyable.
The food was excellent, our server, Haydee, was very friendly. Great experience again at a José Andrés restaurant. We will be back.
Great place to take the family. Food was delicious
Always outstanding. my Yelp review of Oyamel stands! Awesome.
This is my new favorite restaurant. I knew the food was going to be good just by the salsa dip. I got the chefs tasting menu.
Poor outdoor seating and very small portions. Good taste and quality food
Amazing food and service! Jan was the best waiter I've ever had!
Everything about this place is amazing. My husband and I got the 5 choices for $40 (4 entrees and 1 dessert), and it was well worth it. They constantly having people clearing the tables so they don’t get too cluttered. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, and will definitely be returning.
Very Good food
As always, a wonderful and innovative meal! Excellent options for vegetarians as well. Also, the salt foam on margaritas should be mandatory!
Upon arriving (early) for dinner, we were seated right away. When I said that we were celebrating a 40th wedding anniversary, the host gave us a great window-seated table. Our waitress, Cynthia, was very patient with our party (of 4) as we explained our allergies and/or food restrictions. She guided us step-by-step throughout the extended menu. The group ended up selecting the grilled trout, octopus, and shrimp in garlic sauce. We complimented these dishes with Brussels sprouts, refried beans, chicken tacos and fruit salads. EVERYTHING was good!!! After being apprehensive about going to Oyamel because I can’t eat too spicy foods, I was so pleasantly surprised at how much we ALL enjoyed our selections. Thanks goes out to our GREAT waitress, Cynthia.
I planned a group lunch for 15 women. Planning and coordinating the menu and event was seamless. The food was delicious and fun. The service and waitstaff were exceptional.
Small plate mex mex. Every dish was special…seriously so good. Cocktails were great and best tequila list I’ve seen in a long time. Service was perfect
Not sure what’s happened to Oyamel during the pandemic but it’s not good. Chicken in the tamale and enchilada tasted like it came from a can. The shrimp had the texture of something defrosted, and all of the dishes lacked spice and heat. Used to really enjoy their food, hopefully they come back to their old stature.
We enjoyed our meal at Oyamel! The atmosphere just felt a little more rushed and chaotic than usual. We ordered the chicarron tacos which were ok.
Not what it used to be, average service, smaller menu, less flavor
We sat outside which was much nicer than expected. The wait staff was great - there when needed but never hovered. The food was fantastic. Just remember that menu items are small and the prices add up quickly. That is especially true for the drinks: they are amazing, but not cheap. My wife ordered a pitcher of margaritas for our table and I ordered a second, me not realizing the price. The bill was a bit of a shocker. Oyamel is fantastic for a drink and a light snack, but pace yourself.
What a treat to dine here in addition to getting out and enjoying the day. The food was delicious! I love that it was more than traditional Mexican fare. The roasted Brussel Sprouts w a Mexican twist were amazing! My husband ordered the trout w roasted cauliflower/broccoli. His plate was finished clean!! It was a bit noisy, but we could carry on a conversation easily enough. We’ll definitely be back. With all the good Jose Andrés is doing in the world, it felt doubly good to eat here and support his business.
Food is absolutely incredible! Guacamole is worth the price! Margaritas are also spot on
Place was nicely decorated, people were really nice, food leaves more to desire except the rum tres leches, that was to die for! The chicken taco was very bland. Not sure if I’ll return here.
We loved everything about our experience! Will definitely be back and recommend to others!
Outstanding. Absolutely delicious food. Every dish was awesome. Portion sizes are a bit on the small side which I kind of expect from any nice restaurant. Also it was a bit louder than expected which was a little problem for our group. Overall 10/10 would go again for the food. And Jose Andres who is the patron saint of DC
Great food. Great restaurant. Like everywhere else, Oyamel is striving to “come back”. They are down 8 wait staff. So there’s a lag is service. IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT. But be prepared to wait a bit longer than you did the last time you were there, “before”. The staff is OUTSTANDING. And it is worth the wait.
As usual margaritas and guac were great. The rest of the meal was solid and interesting. The really outstanding part of the experience was the customer service. Initially seated at an awkward table when restaurant was not full. Floor manager noticed and offered to move us without having to ask. Attention to customer comfort and experience alone will keep me.coming back.
You can taste the freshness in the food. Nobody makes better guacamole. Even the chips can't be beat. But it's the creativity that shines through in every dish. We tried several ceviches, an assortment of tacos, and a green mole that was the most unusual mole I've ever had. It tasted like springtime. We also tried all 4 desserts, and even though I am not usually a fan of tres leches, Oyamel's is an exception. The details made the dishes true knockouts.
We had a great night out with friends with delicious food and a very Covid-friendly environment.
always enjoy eating at this place. Every time I go to DC we go here. It did not disappoint.
Food was very mediocre. Service was not upto par. We had been here 5 years ago but the standards are the same. Menu is also as innovative as before. Big disappointment.
Oyamel was amazing last night! Joshua explained the menu so helpfully and was so considerate throughout the evening. Can’t wait to dine here again soon.
