    If you love authentic Mexican food as much as we do, then Oyamel is a must! The restaurant welcomes you with great service, absolutely wonderful food, and a comfortable setting.

    We very much appreciated the table in the window as it was quieter! I also want to particularly acknowledge the wonderful service we received from Jacob…we had a Shakespeare Theater curtain and he made sure our food came expeditiously. But more than that, his service was impeccable, we never felt rushed and his personality well suited for making guests feel welcome and go away happy! Thank you Jacob!!

    The tasting menu is such a good value and is a great way to try so many different things. One of my favorite things to do when visiting DC

    Not the best table seat even after making a reservation we felt thrown into the thoroughfare but it was minor. Overall a great experience!!

    Oyamel is one of our favorites! The guacamole is a definite must: so fresh and so flavorful. Every time we've dined here, the food has been outstanding. If you like margaritas, try the Oyamel salt air version - a foamy, flavorful take on this drink. This time, our choices included the enchiladas verdes and an assortment of tacos along with a side of refried black beans. All delicious! For dessert, try to coffee ice cream that comes with caramel sauce, caramelized bananas, and lime wedges. If you are attending a show at the Shakespeare Theater Company, Oyamel is a very short walk to either of those theaters.

    Looking for some of the tastiest Mexican food in DC? Chef Foschi and his team knock it out of the park consistently by combining authentic, bold flavors for his incredibly prepared dishes. Sure, it can be a bit noisy but rest assured, your meal (and salt air margarita’s) will be remembered and you’ll leave happy and full. Oyamel, see you soon!

    I was running late to my res. I texted the restaurant via open table twice and directly once. Arrived 15 min late due to traffic in DC. They did not hold my table and made me sit at the bar at the first seat next to the door. Food - guacamole and ceviche were great. The rest of the food was not great. Expected more from a Jose Andreas place, especially because China Chilcano is so good! Got 2 mezcal drinks. Just ok. Would not return. Lots of other good Mexican options in the area.
