About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
Chef Eugenia Hobson and her team prepare authentic Greek dishes served attentively in a breezy Aegean-inspired atmosphere. Our signature dishes include the grilled octopus, the kolokithokeftedes (stuffed zucchini fritters), the lavraki whole fish (branzino) filleted table side, and the arni giouvetsi (lamb shank with orzo). Our selection of nine desserts are all made fresh daily in-house and feature Greek classics such as the baklava and the galaktoboureko. Our wine list is meticulously curated on a seasonal basis by son Philip Hobson selecting from Greece's top vineyards who produce indigenous varietals such as Assyrtiko & Xinomavro, and western grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon & Sauvignon Blanc. Our beer selection focuses on bottled Greek brews while our bar is fully stocked to serve both classic cocktails and signature drinks inspired by the best bars in Athens. Outdoor tables are available in the summer months. We are located steps away from Bloomies and Barnes & Noble.

Great food and excellent service but a very loud restaurant so it was hard to have a conversation. Overall, a good experience but not great.

We had a very poor experience. I have never written a review for a restaurant but thought I owe it to others to do so. The food took an hour to come although we did get one small plate earlier. The waiter was very nice and kept on apologizing saying kitchen was very busy. They usually bring complimentary pita. We had asked for that and were told they would try to get us some but may not be able too cause kitchen is really slammed. We asked again but never did get the pita. This is a pretty typical thing for a Greek restaurant to serve so surprising. At some point close to waiting an hour we were just planning to leave and go elsewhere and the waiter hurried and brought out two of our small plate dishes with the final dish promised in a few minutes. So we stayed and did eat. The food was very good as previous visits but the experience was not good. We had planned to see a movie after dinner and even though our reservation was an hour and half after the movie time we had to give up on that given food didn’t come for at least an hour. We had been to this restaurant at least twice before and those previous times were great. But the restaurant recently expanded into an area next store and it was clear the kitchen is too small to handle the extra tables. We saw others waiting a long time for food also. When we raised with our waiter they said they weren’t able to expand the kitchen when they expanded the tables so it sounds like this is continual issue. The waiter did reduce our bill so that was very nice. I talked to the manager and got a quick apology and some statement our systems that gets orders to kitchen wasn’t working but unclear if that was really true since we did get one part of our order earlier. I have seen a few reviews noting these issues since they expanded to serve additional people but honestly if the kitchen can’t handle that it is unfair to customers. It’s too bad cause the food is really very good. We won’t go again to this location.

Our Mom Eugenia did not disappoint! We shared small plates and everything we ordered was delicious! Highly recommend the beer-battered zucchini slices and the saganaki! The chicken skewers and potatoes were also very good and a very generous portion. The feta, arugula, and watermelon salad special was exceptional!

We visited on Father’s Day, so it’s possible the holiday impacted the usual flow and service. The restaurant was about 50-75% full. Even with an advance reservation and plenty of open tables, we were initially seated near the front entry. When we asked for a different spot—ideally in the adjoining room—we were placed next to a large, lively group instead. It took a little over 10 minutes before water was brought to the table, and another few minutes before we could order drinks. On a positive note, some dishes were truly delicious, like the Greek salad and calamari. However, a couple of the premium items, like the octopus, didn’t meet expectations for the price—unfortunately, the octopus wasn’t as fresh and was a bit too chewy. We had visited about three years ago and had a much better experience, so perhaps this visit was just an off night.

Great atmosphere... delicious food! The tableside musician was fun/different. I love this restaurant and often bring "out of town" guests to experience the ambiance, service, and superior food quality! The interior decor was recently renovated-- Looks great!!
