About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Great for outdoor dining
  • Good for special occasions
Chef Eugenia Hobson and her team prepare authentic Greek dishes served attentively in a breezy Aegean-inspired atmosphere. Our signature dishes include the grilled octopus, the kolokithokeftedes (stuffed zucchini fritters), the lavraki whole fish (branzino) filleted table side, and the arni giouvetsi (lamb shank with orzo). Our selection of nine desserts are all made fresh daily in-house and feature Greek classics such as the baklava and the galaktoboureko. Our wine list is meticulously curated on a seasonal basis by son Philip Hobson selecting from Greece's top vineyards who produce indigenous varietals such as Assyrtiko & Xinomavro, and western grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon & Sauvignon Blanc. Our beer selection focuses on bottled Greek brews while our bar is fully stocked to serve both classic cocktails and signature drinks inspired by the best bars in Athens. Outdoor tables are available in the summer months. We are located steps away from Bloomies and Barnes & Noble.

We’ve been here many times before the extension and remodeling- and maybe the factors of Mother’s Day and staffing was an issue- but we were disappointed in the service and the food. First, we arrived for a reservation with a baby stroller and we were sat where my husband was clearly in the way of a narrow path between tables. When we asked for a different table that would afford both my husband, the other guests, and staff more space- we were told no there were no other available tables despite the fact that we could see four other empty tables. Then, after being bumped repeatedly after staff and other guests- we were finally reseated only to be forgotten for 45 minutes. Our original server found us finally and apologized for the miscommunication between the server who had that section and herself as to who would be attending the table. We then placed our food order where problems continued. Our octopus appetizer was forgotten, beverages were refilled late and the lamb special for Mother’s Day was cold. Needless to say, our experience was subpar to the service and food that we have come to expect. An apology was made and even though we did not want dessert- a free dessert was packaged to apologize. As someone who worked in the restaurant industry all through college and grad school- I felt the apology was lack luster. Perhaps an apology with a- how can we make it better? Or- we’d like to offer you a free dessert of your choice- rather than a barely uttered response of an apology with a dessert that no one wanted would have been better. Like I said, usually the service and food is better- but my first Mother’s Day dinner was terrible.

Very good service and excellent atmosphere. Food is very good but some of the appetizers we ordered were on the salty side for our palates. Nevertheless, Flavor was delicious and fresh. Would definitely come again.

Our Mom Eugenia has the best octopus dish that I ever tastes - perfectly cooked and fresh tasting. The kitchen kindly split the yummy beet salad with walnuts into two heaping plates! The zucchini slices with the yogurt sauce was also tasty. We enjoyed the Mother’s Day dessert - the crispy phyllo flakes on top of the custard (almost tasting like a bread pudding) chockfull of walnuts on a small pool of light syrup.

The food and table side manner was absolutely amazing! Even if one minor error was made, they noticed it on their own without us having to bring it up, and take care of it promptly... Was a fantastic overall experience for our anniversary. We sat outside until some weather started to come in, and they rapidly accommodated moving us inside and we finished our meal there. I cannot rave enough about how good the food was and reasonably priced.

It was a busy Friday evening and some delay was expected, however, our entire party felt service was lacking and slow. Appetizers came out timely, however, entrees took way too long. Tables that were seated well after us received their entrees before. When entrees did arrive, some meals were incorrect or even missing. I did note our server did not write anything down. Presumably put in orders based on memory. With a party of 6 and on a busy evening, writing an order down would have been expected. Regarding food, while the branzino filet was cooked perfectly, several people in our group ordered the same kebab “special”. There was no consistency with the temperature of the meat or sides. Some were medium; others extremely well done. Some came with the same side; others did not.
