The meal over all was good but it took about 15 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them. Our first course came to the table at the same time our drinks did
Food was excellent as was the service. I did not leave five stars because there is a major glitch in the menu. They list a vegetable antipasti . Nowhere in the description does it say the brussel sprouts are I cooked in pancetta. As a vegetarian I'm glad I found out before I ate them . My guests and I thoroughly enjoyed the pistachio gelato.
A great meal before a show at the Met.
Poor service inattentive waiter
However dinner was delicious
What an amazing experience. We chose the tasting menu, which was wonderfully priced and comprised of absolutely GORGEOUS dishes. The real star was our server, Marco 🌟 He honestly made the night for us. Always engaged, amazing attention to detail, knowledgeable, able to answer any question, funny, charming. For two restaurant workers going out for once to be able to have this amazing of a time? Thank you SO MUCH. We will be back again and again! 💖
Thanksgiving dinner!
Noisy in the back room but otherwise good
Good ambiance, good food. the dishes were a bit hit or miss, but the misses weren't bad either..just not memorable. The pasta and salads were excellent, as was the Branzino. Also the chocolate tortino with pistachio gelato was very repeatable!
We booked a reservation based on the great reviews and the fact that we were running the Philadelphia Marathon the following morning and there weren’t many Italian dining options available. Upon arrival, we were offered a small table next to the entrance where many other diners were standing while waiting for their tables, or we could take a spot at the “counter”. We were not interested in the table next the entrance being we would have patrons standing over our dinner and the constant opening/closing entranceway, so we opted for the so-called counter. The counter turned out to be a bar on the backside of the kitchen area and we were lucky enough to get the last spot next to the kitchen service area. After waiting for someone to find a second chair, we sat down and eventually our server arrived and things only got worse from there. We were instructed that we couldn’t order until we decided on our entire order for the evening. The server appeared to be offended when we asked for a basic red sauce dish not on the menu, since we wanted to eat healthy the night before the marathon. We also never got bread and didn’t realize that was an option until we noticed it on everyone’s table on our way out, which would have been great being we were there to eat as many carbs as possible.
Enjoyed the tasting menu and had excellent service.
Just the best service anywhere. Food described as small plates but way more in portion than anticipated. Great freshness and quality. The best place around.
First class service from Ethan and Julia the GM. Pricing is extremely fair and this is truly a gem of a place!
Osteria was good. Not as good as I thought it was going to be for the price point, but good enough. I definitely would NOT recommend this place for a date night as it was so loud that I could hardly hear anything my friend was saying. I also didn't care for the multiple servers we had. There were about 5 different one's and every time they walked away they would say thank you and we were left thinking, um thank you for what? The drinks were extremely over price for the amount you got and they were mostly fillers. If you are going to get a drink there, I would suggest sticking to wine! All in all, it was good. Would I go back? Most likely not. I would probably stick to Buddakan or Butcher and Singer for the price point.
We ate at Osteria before attending a concert at The Met. We were seated by 6:10 p.m., ordered promptly, and told our server we would be seeing an 8 p.m. show. We ordered dessert during our last course and asked for our bill well before 7:30 p.m. but were delayed until 7:45 p.m. before being able to leave. The food was disappointing. Portions were small. None of the dishes were delicious, more like "good", but not worth the cost. We will not return.
Server was excellent!!! So knowledgeable and could have sold us on the entire menu!!
We had plans to see a show at the Met. This was a great place to come with delightful menu, great service and close proximity to venue.
We had dinner at Osteria on 11/18/19 before seeing Sara Bareilles at The Met. Our dining experience was fabulous. They offered a special theatre menu which we decided to choose. Our server , Katie, was outstanding. She was sweet, efficient and helped us make a few menu selections based on her experience at the restaurant. All choices were spot on. Also, Katie never made us feel rushed. In fact - she made us feel like we were her only table (even though she was serving other tables).
The ambiance was wonderful. The food was amazing .
We will be back.
We were visiting Philadelphia and chose Osteria based on other recommendations and were not disappointed one bit! The food was wonderful, the waitstaff was knowledgeable and attentive. We will definitely come again!
Beautiful setting. Excellent food. Cordial wait staff. Reasonably priced for the food quality. Leave time to find street parking.
Service has declined from its former stellar levels. We waited 40 minutes past our reservation to get seated and then waited another 20 minutes for them to bring us bread. Food was still excellent
Waited a 1/2 hour past our reservation to be seated. If it were not the fact that there are not other nicer restaurants in the area- we probably would have left. Food is good but not exceptional to wait for.
Dined prior to a show at The Met. We had to wait about 20 minutes after our reserved time to be sat, however, once we were at our table, the food service was quick and absolutely delicious. We were able to enjoy some wine and have three plates served to us within 30 minutes. It was perfect and would love to go back without a time crunch in the very near future. Hands down at the top of “My Favorite Philadelphia Restaurants” list!
All was great. Great food and excellent service.
2nd Saturday in a row that we dined at Osteria before a concert at the Met. Clearly, the more experienced server (Tony) the 2nd night made the difference. The entrees were delivered 7 minutes AFTER the appetizer plates were cleared - perfectly timed.
The previous Saturday, the entrees appeared while we were still eating the appetizers; the delivery kid didn’t understand why we were annoyed. Note: the deuces are not big tables. We asked our server to place one of the dishes under a heat lamp to keep it warm until we had room on the table. Our duck came back cool to the touch, so obviously that request was ignored.
A server that knows how to time dropping the order into the kitchen can make or break a dining experience- I wish more establishments would train their staff on that one key concept. We will ask for Tony the next time we dine at Osteria.
Everything was perfect!
Great wait staff. Steered us to the perfect menu choices for our group of four. Only con was our table was technically located In the bar and with a 6pm Friday night reservation I would have preferred a better table especially since we were dining with our pre teen & teen sons.
Best host team in the city. Adrian is phenomenal! She should get a raise I’ve been working in restaurants for 20 years best house I’ve ever met
The food was fabulous - so unique and flavorful. Our waitress Katie was AMAZING - she really knew the menu and was able to make excellent recommendations. It was the perfect dinner for a birthday celebration!
I went to Osteria with a friend, and we LOVED it! We did the tasting, and every course was delightful. Highly recommended!
My favorite restaurant in Philly. The space and service are both top notch - its a beautiful rustic setting. The menu offers a wide selection of food, some with small seasonal changes to mainstays and some entirely new offerings based on the time of year. A must for anyone living or visiting Philadelphia.
Our overall experience was wonderful!!!! The service, the food and ambiance was divine.
Great food and great ambiance. Issues with availability of menu items - ordered three different bottles of wine which all turned out to be out of stock when the server went to get the bottles. Several other menu items were unavailable or had modifications. Asked for leftover pizza to be boxed up and server never returned with the food or addressed it.
Different taste of Italian and I have been there numerous times. No octopus on a Saturday night. Cheese board was 5* as were the scallops and most differently the bread.
Great food and Service was great! I love the ambiance except for the table next to us. They were a bit loud with conversation but this is nothing Osteria can control. We go every year and will continue to do so for our anniversary. The pastas and ribeye are the best!
Food was rushed, still finishing salad & entree was served.
Our Saturday night pre-concert dinner started with a beautiful hostess, I wish I had asked her name. Her greeting started the good vibe of Osteria. We sat at Chef's counter for Happy Hour. Watching and hearing the kitchen was energetic and interesting. The food........ margherita pizza, wood roasted vegetables, salumi plate, trumpet mushroom ravioli, rib eye skewers........we couldn't pick a favorite we loved it all. The chocolate pistachio dessert, espresso, we really ordered and ate. Everything was especially delicious. I can't wait to go back! Thank you Osteria.
The wine room is a winner on a weekend night because it is much less noisy than the other areas. Excellent food and service, a favorite of ours.
Great service except we were seated at a table next to crowded noisy bar despite making reservation a month ahead with request for quiet table. Food excellent- pre theater package a bargain for what you get!!
Waiter was very knowledgeable of menu and beverage selections and very attentive.
Wonderful meal! We ordered the convivio for two and every dish was excellent. Paired with a Nero D’Avola. The staff was friendly and informative. Great start to the evening !
