Fantastic little place, full of “family feel”. Pur server Luigi was exceptional!! Food was good, the wine recommendation fantastic! Will return for sure.
I used to come here a lot for lunch and it was always excellent so I did not expect to be so disappointed. The vongole was greasy and lacking flavor. The waiter started out friendly but then ignored us. He studiously avoided telling us the price of a carafe of wine. We had to get our check from the person on the front door. He was very nice but it didn’t make up for an overall disappointing experience. Especially when compared with previous visits. I won’t be back. It’s a shame. I used to recommend this restaurant to people.
We are foodies and were shocked at the great quality of the food. The pasta was home made fresh (spinach truffle ravioli was off the charts). The server was on point - checked up on us but not disturbing. And the outside area was nice and quiet. We will DEFINITELY be returning. I don't normally do reviews. But we were so thrilled with this place that I'd want other locals to support them.
For several years now, Osteria Mamma has been our favorite neighborhood Italian restaurant. They've set up outdoor dining on a portion of the parking lot out back, which is pleasant enough. The restaurant is situated close to our house (we live near Larchmont), the wine was excellent, and the food is consistently first-rate. Osteria Mamma has been our go-to for pre-Pantages show dinners (pre-COVID) and celebratory meals (in this case, joint birthday celebrations with a couple of family members). They have come through the pandemic, and we want to see the restaurant and its staff continue to survive and thrive. They deserve it.
Lengthy menu, all of interesting, and all (that we had) outstanding. Outdoor patio comfortable, quiet, tables well-spaced; service attentive but not intrusive. An excellent choice.
My birthday present for my son a son his wife; five of us. Everyone agreed food was delicious and service excellent.
Osteria Mamma is really good. We ordered the Spaghetti ala carbonara, marghuerita pizza, and the spaghetti ala vongole. The Vongole was the only disappointment. The clams were not clean, so the dish was sandy/gritty. And most of them were empty. They put a lot in there but the corresponding meat, for the most part, was nowhere to be found. The pizza was fabulous, as was the carbonara. For dessert we had the flourless chocolate cake, delicious, rich and packed with flavor. And the panna cotta. It was also very good. I had mine without the raspberry sauce because I’m a purist when it comes to panna cotta. The staff were all very friendly and seem like they really enjoy working there. And all of the employees we spoke to have an Italian accent. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and had a good dinner.
It was wonderful!
Lovely time for our anniversary! Delicious food and such a joyful scene with families and regulars!
If you are looking for a place with authentic and delicious Italian food, as well as congenial service and a warm ambience, then look no further. At Osteria Mamma, you can dine on amazing pastas made by Mamma with delicious sauces such as a hearty bolognese or pesto made with arugula. The tricolore salad is fresh and luscious, as is the melon with prosciutto. Mamma and her staff definitely take pride in the quality of everything that comes out of the kitchen.
Incredible homemade pasta, made by Mamma herself!
A terrific restaurant with delicious, interesting dishes run like the family establishment it is. Mamma knows what she's doing!
Fantastic family owned and run Italian with home made everything by Mama, including the pasta. Great wine list of Italian wines for the neighborhood gem.
Love Love Love this place. Always consistently wonderful.
i would have give them 5 stars but it so loud in there that you seriously have to yell to be heard and it can get very cramped...other than that the food is amazing the service is lovely...
The real deal!! The food is authentic Veneto cuisine. Everything I have had here, which is most of the menu, is terrific. There are always interesting specials. The pasta's are house made and always perfectly al dente. The pizza's are lovely. The salad's are fresh and never over dressed. Great little wine list with plenty of value options. The service is as it should be.... warm, kind, accommodating and never snooty or stifling. This is the best Italian dining experience in Los Angeles.
Our second visit to Osteria Mamma was just OK. Octopus starter was very nice and substantial; however, three of four main courses were simply average. The arugula pesto linguine (mostly basil, as per the server)was excellent, while fish, osso buco, and carbonara pasta dish were lacking. Other less substantive issues: server was uninterested, and tables are too small when seating four.
osso bucco was tough (!?!) and tasteless. Pasta mediocre, sauce watery and dull. The frisee salad however was excellent. Interesting non-standard Italian wines by the glass. When I didn't finish (or barely touch) the Osso Bucco they were very apologetic and removed it from the bill.
I love going here. The food is so fresh and delicious every time I go. Simple and mouthwateringly good.
Great dinner but it was very loud. It was difficult to carry on a conversation at our table. Otherwise we had a great time.
I was disappointed with the food here. My octopus was rather cold and the salmon I ordered was rather thick and not very tender.
We love Osteria Mamma but the kitchen just seemed a bit off on Saturday night. Undercooked risotto and pasta that was overdone and "globbed" together. The service at this family-run operation was warm and prompt, as usual. We will be back but this is the first time we didn't leave raving about the meal.
Our thanks to Salvatore and Christina. Outstanding service!
The best pasta in town! Delish!
The food here is amazing! We saw Betty White there.
love this place - esp the home made pasta.
Love the food, great service, only problem is the noise level. The place is very popular, so when all the tables are filled it's loud! But all-in-all, very worth it given the exquisite pastas, delicious salads (they're large, split one) and the delightful complimentary Limoncello at the end.
Wonderful service, delicious food and a great variety of Italian plates via Italy and not Jersey.
Always good service and great food. Homemade pastas are amazing!
The homemade pasta is the best. And her burrata is not to be beat.
That was some of the best italian food I've ever had, and the wine was very very good!
Run here. I should not tell you this as it is in my neighborhood but this place has some of the best food in town.. I come from Back East-- we know Italian I eat regularly at Mozza and Madeo this is half the price and simpler but just as satisfying
I really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and ability to relax yet have a great night.
very loud, but great food and lovely service.
"Mamma" is in my experience, like having a reunion with great food and only the relatives you like!!! I love the feeling of family, but more the sense of pride and professionalism that shows in the "execution". The feelings we had when we first visited their original "little place up the street" has been revived and given back it's place of importance.
From the time we enter till we put down our napkins, we feel Mamma saying "welcome back" to us and we're saying "welcome back Mamma"!!!!
I was really disappointed with my food and in fact so was my friend. I had a pesto pasta, simple, how bad could it be? It was bad very oily and quite tasteless. 'They' came over to see what my 'problem' was, and offered me either another dish or the same, what was the use I asked myself, it would not be any different. I couldn't eat it. And then they had the audacity to charge me. I was not happy. My friend had the Calamari, it looked very dry, he said it was dull and ordinary. He followed it with the Ravioli. He said it was pretty bland too.
The food was fine. Where they seated us was very hot and crowded for 4 people. I wouldn't rush back-there are better Italian restaurants.
This is a great restaurant and the food is really quite amazing. I will be coming back, and it's a great neighborhood gem!
The homemade pastas melt in your mouth and you can tell the food is fresh and made with love. Noise level is quite loud because of too many flat surfaces in the restaurant. Small tables for groups of 4 make it difficult to share food - which is the best way to eat Italian food! Highly recommend the tiramisu. Best tiramisu I've had in a long long time.
