Giorgios Bakatsias' inspiration behind his newest concept, Osteria Georgi, stems from a deep appreciation for his dear friend- the late, great George Tarantini, an Italian native and beloved soccer coach for NC state University, well-known for his love and respect for hospitality.

Osteria reflects the passion behind Italian cuisine and culture-
a daily celebration of life while gathering around a shared table, of enjoying the beauty in simply prepared hand-made pasta, locally sourced ingredients and vibrant flavors, in having gratitude for the local farmers, fisherman, and artisans from which it all came, and always- a love for great company.

One of our favorite restaurants in Chapel Hill (and the entire Triangle)! The food is always outstanding, and the service is excellent as well. Highly recommended!

This is one of our favorite neighborhood dining venues for both lunch and dinner. Chef Dan Jackson continues to operate restaurant with excellent food, service, and ambience. His presence and interactions with diners are greatly appreciated. A Chapel Hill gem!

The food was surprisingly average. Servers very well intentioned but overworked it appeared. The restaurant is very loud.

Outstanding food (if a bit too salty) and wonderful service - beautiful decor. Good value for money. So happy to find a place like this in CH! Highly recommend

Even during the post graduation slowdown Osteria Giorgi can be depended upon to provide an all around amazing dining experience. Our server, Tess, was awesome. The halibut was perfect and the focaccia free flowing. Recommended without reservations. (Although you better have a reservation!)

we’ve had many meals at Osteria Georgi before and always had a great experience. However, our most recent dinner was disappointing – maybe the team was overwhelmed with Mother’s Day and graduation on the same weekend, but everything was off. Instead of the normal menu, they had a smaller more limited slate of options. And the service seemed a lot less warm and attentive than in the past. For example, they have very small drinking glasses at the table, but rarely refilled water. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue, but since the glasses were barely larger than a shot glass, we needed refills more frequently. The meal itself was underwhelming – two of us got the vodka penne, which seemed a bit overcooked and not up to the quality we’ve had in the past. And given the very steep prices, it just didn’t feel like we got close to a real value for the meal. Just to add chicken to a pasta dish with an extra $14 and that chicken was a bit rubbery and overcooked. The beef short rib was very good, but for $44 it wasn’t exactly an impressive portion. Given that we’ve had incredible meals here in the past, it was a big disappointment last night. Hopefully it was just the result of a crazy weekend between graduation and the holiday, but it gave us a little bit of reluctance to come back in the future
