Osteria del Pastaio
We live in near north and had never tried this restaurant. We will return. It was a nice size, reasonably quiet, and the food was very good. Pasta is done perfectly and very flavorful. Wines are good value. The chef was accommodating to a special request.
A great neighborhood restaurant!
Cute restaurant with amazing food! highly recommend
Fabulous experience! Food was delish! Service was spectacular. Must order the Pecorino al Tartufo Nero. The whole menu is incredible, can’t go wrong!
Great food, wonderful service. Neighborhood jewel!
An absolutely terrible experience! One of the most bizarre experiences I have encountered in a restaurant. Came in and majority of the restaurant was empty. There was maybe 3-4 parties seated at tables.
Was told by the “host” they could not seat us at a table since they were all booked for reservations for the night. Was taken to a high top table in the bar.
The waiter said he would have sat us anywhere, at all the open tables but he was being told by the host not to. I then looked on open table and saw they had SEVERAL reservations open for the night.
I booked a reservation went back to the front to check in and the host rolled his eyes at me saying did you just book it? I said yes, you have open tables and open reservations. The host then wanted to have an argument with me and didn’t want to seat me at a table at first. I said I made a reservation. He begrudgingly took me to a table. It was quite shocking how rude he was. At this point I felt uncomfortable staying at the restaurant because this host lied and didn’t want to seat us at a table. As a customer I don’t need to pay money to be treated disrespectfully. I will never return.
Our guests LOVED Osteria - they'll become regulars.
Waiter: all thought he was exceptional.
A great restaurant with a quiet atmosphere good for conversation.
The food is outstanding.
Everything was good, and the service was great, friendly, not at all rushed. We felt very welcome as we lingered at our table.
While the meal was outstanding, the service, with the dining area not overly crowded, was extremely slow....very disappointing!!!!
Wonderful authentic food, great welcoming service. Fantastic happy hour (3:30-6:30) wine options (even on weekends!). The only thing I was disappointed in was the restroom which is shared with the other vendors in the building.
The pasta was home made and had a great texture.
We went for lunch, so it was moderately priced (not sure about dinner menu pricing).
Over all value for the food was great
We were blown away by our lunch at Osteria del Pastaio on a recent Sunday. We were looking to avoid the standard Sunday brunch and wanted a good, basic pasta dish. We were amazed to find that this quiet little gem offered a Sunday special that include a pasta dish and salad for only $12.95! Best bargain of our weekend in Chicago and also incredibly fresh and tasty. The waiter was so nice and could describe everything on the menu. The daily pasta was rigatoni and you got to choose your sauce, which was fabulous. I had it made as a Carbonara. Wonderful. My husband chose a spinach gnocchi that was also great. Good wine list. We will defiantly go back and would love to try dinner next time we're in Chicago.
It’s a wonderful place, great food and a wonderful service. The floor manager, George, is very friendly and will make You feel welcome and important.
The worst meal I’ve had in a long time. After taking our order the calamari came out in two or three minutes. Of course it was more like McDonald’s French fries, cold, soggy and limp. The second order was at least warm and it could be the sweet and sour sauce they dunk the calamari in as the one shrimp was very hot. My date ordered a salad and I had the cioppino which consisted of flavorless tomatoes, calamari, shrimp and a few pieces of soggy fish skin. I picked out two whole raw garlic cloves. The only bright note was the service which was very good.
Hearts of palm salad and osso bucco are real winners. Seared octopus was disappointingly chewy. Nice neighborhood restaurant. Very friendly.
We really enjoyed.
Nice and friendly service.
A neighborhood gem! Delicious food with excellent service. Our server Julia was sweet and very attentive! Definitely going back!!!
An overall great experience. This place is romantic, perfect for a date night. Amazingly affordable for all that you get.
Food was excellent
While food and service were good, Restaurant interior looks a little worn - needs a little updating to freshen it up.
My companion asked to substitute the risotto for a pasta and was charged an extra $10. A bit silly.
We were discussing business and the music randomly became too loud to hear each other. We asked for it to be turned down “just a touch” and 5 minutes later too loud to hear each other again.
Honestly we just went here because it was close to our hotel and seemed to be well reviewed and we were looking for a break from trendy pricey places on the last night of our trip. Just an outstanding dining experience and far exceeded our expectations. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive but not intrusive. The calamari and avocado shrimp appetizers were amazing. My 16 year old daughter who usually picks at her food demolished the apps. The pasta was so fresh and delicious, true comfort food. Wish we could have had dessert but too full! The prices were very reasonable for the quality and level of and service, cheapest meal we had in town but also among the best. Definitely coming here again next time we are in town.
Had an early dinner here before theatre at Broadway Playhouse. Delicious food, attractive but relaxed vibe, excellent service from our waiter and from George, the maitre d. Chopped salad to start, osso bucco for main. Both 100% yummy. Will definitely return here. Prices not out of sight.
The food was creative and delicious
So delicious 👏😋
The restaurant needs a refresh in decor and serious attention. To the Bathrooms they are scary
Amazing food and service as always. Osteria del Postaio continues to be our neighborhood restaurant.
Everything we ordered was excellent. Even the "wine of the month" special was very good, especially for the price.
Excellent food, service and wine. We were seated in a large closet instead off the main dining room, and it was cozy, but fine. I would certainly go back.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and hownservicenwas catered for my daughter
Great place. Not too loud but not too quiet. Perfect for couple or small group celebrating. Food was excellent at great price. Mushroom appetizer was amazing. Owner right there to make sure your experience is top notch.
Very inventive food and a very cozy atmosphere.
Great meal. Low noise level. My fish was very fresh with a delicate sauce. The wine deal of the month was a good wine. Would absolutely go again next time we are in Chicago!
Food was delicious! Bruschetta was the best ever! Our waiter was great!
Chef prepared a customized pasta taking into account of my dietary issues. It was wonderful!!
Wait person very friendly, helpful with our guest who had not dine here before. Our dinner experience was as we expected, great.
We dine here every time, we are in town.
See you next time..
Dinner with my daughter was absolutely amazing. The staff is so welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be back!
Great service from our server and the manager. Both were very engaging. The food is delicious. It is in a great location, but kind of a hidden gem.
I would not have come here if I didn't have a voucher. This is a way I like to try new places. I came with a friend and we each had a glass of wine. I had the heart of palm salad and fruti de mare linguini. The salad came in a small round cake shape which I did not expect. Tasted great. There was a lot of pasta and it was tasty. We shared a glass of port and a tiramisu, a great way to end the evening. They do share a bathroom with the Starbucks next door so you have to use a casual looking hallway, but that is minor.
This place was fabulous - what a great find!! Excellent food - we want to go back to try more of it - service was amazing - price was right
We went for early dinner before Hamilton. Service was excellent. Food was delicious. We had the calamari which is not to be missed. Mussels were very flavorful. All the pasta dishes were tasty. Plenty of food. Definitely will go back.
I was disappointed in my meal on Valentine’s Day. The menu is too large. The pasta is great but everything else was poor to disappointing. The special shrimp appetizer was nothing Alecia’s and my shrimp bisque had no pieces of shrimp and was very salty. Defiantly not worth the money. Service was great, no complaints with our waiter.
We ordered the calamari and two pastas. I strongly recommend the calamari and pasta arrabbiata. The service was great and the food was worth it. The only downside was the interior.
