Orsa & Winston is the third downtown restaurant from Chef-Owner Josef Centeno, of Bäco Mercat, Bar Amá & P.Y.T.. Featuring nightly-changing tasting menus and a new SNACKS menu, the restaurant incorporates sensibilities of both Italian and Japanese cuisines in an intimate 32-seat dining room and open kitchen. Due to the small size of our restaurant, reservations are highly recommended.

The restaurant is simple and clean with an open kitchen. The menu price is a little high. It does not have a WiFi access. The salad is very fresh and tasty.

The set menu itself is pretty good for the value, but overall not so amazing or necessarily a steal of a bargain. But it is interesting and pretty well executed for certain dishes. The truffle hand cut pasta was a little disappointing, not aromatic with the truffles and falls a bit flat on flavor. Wines were interesting with some great choices. Service was attentive and caring. But I’ll be honest, it wasn’t as good as I thought going into this dinner.

Delicious food, creative mix of flavors. Every bite is tasty. We had brunch: Japanese breakfast, hand pulled pasta, and persimmon salad. Soufflé pancake and tapioca pudding for dessert. Savory dishes were all excellent. Dessert was decent. If you want the flavors of a two-star+ experience in a more casual ambiance without the usual stuffiness, this place is for you.

We came here for our anniversary on a weeknight. The restaurant was pretty quiet that night, but the service and food was absolutely unbeatable. We’ll definitely return soon!

We were not told that new year's dinner was $150 per person. It was good as always, but wish we were told of the price hike for the evening. Also the the seat was uncomfortable...

The food was good, but it only used some expensive ingredients like truffle. Particularly the service was poor. I didn't believe they had a michelin star. The waiter and waitress had no smile and just explained a little. Very disappointed.

Absolutely amazing meal! Each dish was delicious and well-balanced. The prix fixe dinner menu may not fill you up if you are very hungry or eat a lot; supplemental a la carte dishes are available but you should account for this when considering the cost/value of the restaurant! Would definitely recommend and would likely return.

This is the gold standard of affordable price fixed set menus. Five courses with an amuse-gueule that IS Orsa & Winston in a skewer and an apple cider granita as a trou normand, each course tailored for maximum succulence. If you haven't been here, run, don't walk.

I came here for brunch on Sunday and the food was delicious. Our Server recommended some terrific dishes (see photos). I recommend coming when it opens on Sunday, less traffic, plenty street parking.

Why anyone would ever want to go to any other restaurant besides Orsa and Winston is beyond me. Every menu is a new adventure and our last visit was no exception. The flavor combinations are always revelatory...this time the matsutake broth and butternut puree dumplings blew our minds away! A visit to Orsa and Winston is a trip around the world.

The staff is so dedicated, knowledgable, and warm a visit there is a something more than eating a meal, but also receiving a culinary education wrapped around an amazing meal.

We just love this place. In LA, this is our Steady Eddie special spot.

We had an excellent anniversary meal at Orsa & Winson this past week. The staff was attentive and everything on the tasting menu was delicious. We especially loved the satsuki rice porridge, washugyu flank steak, and all the little extras the kitchen provided to us. We sat at the counter so we had a nice view of all the action in the kitchen. Definitely recommend and will be back again!

We don’t get out much as we have two young kids, but this was a lovely date night experience. The food and wine pairings were excellent, and all the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and well-trained.

I had been wanting to go here for years. My husband and I are huge fans of the chef’s other restaurants, but this really missed the mark for us food wise. The menu was so odd and we really didn’t like the mid of flavors (uni in a creamy rice porridge, a very chewy flatiron steak). We did really like the atmosphere and the service was good, but the food is pretty key.

They fly a little under the radar for brunch, but it's one of the best in LA. Service is consistently excellent, the setting is understated and comfortable and the Japanese-inflected fare offers options ranging from creative spins on brunch classics (like their yummy grain pancakes or The Bear & Winston--an elevated bacon and eggs) to lunchy comfort fare like grain bowls and a fab chicken katsu parmesan. Love coming here.

Great food. Small intimate restaurant with a great tasting menu. We did opt for the tasting menu with wine pairings. The wines are very geeky which was super fun, but they weren’t out of this world wines to our palate.

I used to put this restaurant up with the Michelin 3-stars I’ve been to—maybe not quite as elaborate but just as enjoyable and more sleek and relaxed. This last was materially less awesome than the many prior ones over the last 3 years, but was still very good. I hope this was a fluke and they aren’t just merely “very good,” but something felt more complacent and sort of unambitious about the food and it’s programming last night.
