We enjoyed a wonderful meal before attending a concert next door. The food was excellent and the service top notch.
Paul, our server was outstanding and offered several wines to taste. Thank you all for working so hard during these trying times.
We love Opal, and recommend it to our friends as well.
Richard, the owner is first rate, and the service has always been great.
We feel very taken care of, and the outdoor seating area is wonderful.
We always look forward to eating here.
We especially love to go here for the rib eye with white beans. Friend had chicken piccata penne - super delish.
Great food, attentive service but the tables are verrrry small
The food was fabulous and the service we received from Sabina was exceptional! They were so kind and accommodating of my dietary restrictions. I will return the next time I am in Santa Barbara!
Great food - delicious creations. Loved the crab cake appetizer. Salmon tacos were great too. I had the Paella while my wife had the very creative vegetable Napoleon. All delicious. The cocktails we chose were fairly plain, but others seemed to be enjoying their martinis. Overall, highly rated. I will come back again next time I'm in town.
This continues to be one of our favorite restaurants, even though it is 100 miles away.
Great variety of excellently prepared dishes at most reasonable prices. Large and affordable wine list.
Good food, good service, server was great knew the product and wine. Met the owner Richard, enjoyed our brief conversation. We will be back soon. Have already recommended you to a friends and we we're just there Saturday
We were recommended to this restaurant by a local winery as somewhere not to miss in Santa Barbara, and it did not disappoint. We sat outside with a heating lamp, so were perfectly comfortable. My husband said his warm seafood salad was the best (and largest) he has ever had. My pasta was also excellent, as were other family member's risotto and pizza. Service was friendly, if a little slow (maybe unrushed?), and they happily left out ingredients we were allergic to or just did not like. Dessert was on the expensive side ($10 for gelato) but it was worth it to have such a pleasant experience. We will definitely return!
Had great salmon and chipotle steak. Very friendly service and attentive. Highly recommend for dinner.
Delicious as usual! So happy to be sharing such wonderful food at Opal again. Always a treat and definitely as good as ever. So many great choices on their menu, too. Good food, good friends - it doesn't get much better!!
Had a really great meal. Service was good. Would recommend Opal to friends
Second time here while visiting Santa Barbara. Went here for my birthday dinner in September and came back for a wedding in November and purposefully had dinner here again. The food is excellent and the service is also great! Definite stop every time in SB.
We had a wonderful experience. The only suggestion I have is for the wait staff not be so pushy on selection on the menu. I eat at Opal's frequently and love it!!!
Impeccable food. Impeccable service. Great ambience. Just completely blown away.
Decided to try Opal's out upon a recommendation for a business meeting. We had ordered the Sea Bass and Duck. Both were outstanding, and I can't wait to go back again and take some friends with me.
Opal was suggested to us by several locals and it did not disappoint! The food was AMAZING!! We ordered the filet prepared different ways and both were delish! You will not be disappointed!
Great service and wonderful food! The salmon was cooked perfectly!
Ordered the two favs: chili filet mignon and lemongrass encrusted salmon.
Both first rate meals! Ample cocktails and excellent service.
All a winning combo.
Nice place Menu has a lot of variety- the warm seafood salad was very good and so was the pasta dish The wait staff was great and everyone made us feel very welcome Reasonable prices and overall a very nice place for a casual and good dinner
Intimate setting and impeccable service, they make you feel like you’re somebody.
Opal is a must try. The food is extraordinary, the service faultless, the ambience gemutlich. I heartily recommend it.
Prawn appetizers were excellent—1 bacon wrapped special and 1 on menu. Regular meals served over pasta were so-so. Expected the chicken piccata to be a full crusted chicken breast over pasta base but it was cut up, sautéed chicken cubes in a very creamy pasta sauce. Marginal. Pistachio salmon special was same—fish was good but the pasta was marginal (white penne.)Opal was recommended and pretty full on a Tuesday so expected lots more. Wait staff was attentive after a slow service on drinks at the start. Get the drinks on the table quickly and it covers for a lot!
The food was delicious and the service was friendly and helpful.
One of our favorite spots! Great service and amazing food!
Restaurant was recommended by a friend and we were very happy with the choice. The service was exceptional and we could not have asked for a better waiter. His recommendations were spot on. We especially loved the Asian Calamari appetizer! It was enough for 3-4 people and we all commented that “it was probably the best we have ever had.” We all loved our entrees as well.
Great food. Great service. Very nice. We will be back
The appetizers are so good here that we have never tried an entree! The Asian Calamari, Phyllo Wrapped Shrimp, and Fried Mushrooms are beyond fantastic. There isn't much to the atmosphere, but no matter...the food is excellent, and now they have added a really nice outdoor eating area.
The food is amazing. Service has been good the two times we have been there. I just made two more reservations
Service was exceptional. Our server was efficient, friendly, knowledgeable, attentive...fabulous! The owner came by twice to make sure we were enjoying our meal. And we did - - delicious, as always. We always dine at Opal for special occasions and look forward to them reopening for lunch, post-Covid.
Friendly but professional service and outstanding entre. We ordered blackened seabags in a potato crepe and it was subtle and had many interesting flavors and textures. The tiramisu dessert was also excellent.
Wonderful food and service on our return visit to the Opal. We will return again when visiting Santa Barbara!
First time at Opal. Came in from out of town and liked the menu online so decided to try Opal. Were not disappointed. A busy Sunday night yet service was prompt, we got our cocktails in minutes once ordered, staff was perfectly timed at our outdoor table under the heat lamp with cover. Food was excellent. Fresh, great flavor but not overpowering. Salted caramel gelato and an Anniversary excellent tasting Tiramisu topped off the dinner perfectly.
Soupy paella with overcooked seafood; over cooked chicken marsalla on a scoop of white rice (wth??); desserts with runny whipped creme; a rib eye served with salad dressing pretending to be melted herbed butter. The quality of the food here is waaaaay overpriced for what they are actually serving. It's like the person who authored the menu has never met the chef, or vice versa. For the cost, we felt cheated and wished we had picked a different restaurant for our birthday celebration. This is Santa Barbara and if you're willing to pay these prices, you CAN and SHOULD do better than we did with this place.
Service was nice.
Opal is always a winner. Delicious food and great prices. Also the wait staff do a really good job. On a regular local rotation for us.
Excellent service, delicious food, perfect ambience. Been coming for years!
Everything was impeccable - from the food and wine to the excellent, attentive service. The wine I had was so amazing that I went to that winery the following day to taste and buy the wine! My entrees were to-die-for deliciousness. Thank you to everyone at Opal Restaurant who helped make my solo dining experience a memorable experience!
Waiter was not great…not attentive…. Very disappointed.
