A blend of ground beef, onions, garlic, secret spices, fresh bread crumbs and herbs. Served with a smashin' side of our spinach and garlic mashed potatoes
Saganaki / Flaming Cheese
Grilled Kasseri cheese served flaming on a flat iron skillet, warm pita bread
Our waitress was not very good, the tables were too close to each other. The restaurant does not have AC
Food was ice cold in the middle and was some of the worst Greek food I've had.
Good Greek in the creek
Food was good. Service wass less satisfactory. Waitress did not listen closely to our order and brought wrong item. Whole fish was served without serving implements.
It started well but took a downturn. Our server took our drink and appetizer order. Then she didn't return for about 20-25 minutes to take our dinner order. After checking on our entrees and determining it would be a while, she offered to bring a free appetizer which we politely declined as we wanted to be able to eat our meal and not fill up before it arrived. (It would have been nice if she had offered free dessert later, but she only brought the check.) She was a nice server with nice personality, but the service itself was quite lacking.
Food was great tonight!!!
The waiter barley checked in us and got our drink orders wrong multiple times.
I had put for the patio when making the reservation. We then had to wait another 10 minutes and sat inside. We were there 1 hour and 15 minutes before eating. Our server took our drink order and our kids food order then didn't come to our table again for a LONGGG TIME. They were done eating before we even got our appetizer. Finally, they were losing it (normally very well behaved at dinner but since they had been done eating for an hour they were ready to go). So we left without eating our dinner however, still paid. Horrible experience. I suggest this place gets some more staff with proper training they open up the reservation books. Ruined our night on our trip.
Terrible service. Shooed us out before we even finished our drinks. No ask if we wanted anything else. And my husband told them we were celebrating my 40th birthday. Definitely NOT the birthday dinner I was hoping for.
Food was great, Michael was our server and he had great recommendations. Very friendly and attentive service.
We sat outside, there was live music too.
My first time eating Greek food. It was excellent. Service was good and the whole experience was pleasant.
Portion not large. Charge extra to substitute potatoes for extra vegetables or even lettuce. Lots of waiters standing around not helping my waitress who was busy. Don’t need to go back.
Great food and location
When I arrived it took us forever to get service and our meal. We spent $200 + on meals but the service sucked. Probably will not be back any time soon
Service was impeccable, as usual! And the food is phenomenal.
Excellent! We had the Greek Salad, Brick Chicken and Spanakopita. The salad ingredients were very fresh with vibrant seasonings. The chicken was amazing -- very juicy with the grill smoky flavoring. The Spanakopita was also amazing. The service is excellent too. If we were closer we'd go there weekly. And the Greek margaritas are some of the best we've had.
The food was ok but certainly NOT what we expected for Walnut Creek. One glass of water had paper in it. The waitress was poorly trained, did not introduce herself, and as we waited finally said what can I do for you. Uh? She was not wearing her mask properly (below her nose), and did not seem to understand appetizers should arrive before entrees, as one arrived before the second appetizer arrived. When we asked to send the entree back, and we apologized, she said, and I quote, “don’t worry, we will serve it to another table”.
Our drinks were late in arriving - 1/2 way through appetizers. We really should have left, against our better judgment we did not. We had barely finished our appetizers (and I slowed the process down so we could enjoy and we were contemplating changing our entree orders to something lighter), before the plates were cleared, the entrees arrived. About half way through, she came over and wanted to know if we wanted dessert. Water glasses were not refilled. Did not ask us if we wanted a second glass of wine or beer. Started clearing the dinner plates before we had finished. On top of this, we noticed this restaurant charges a corkage fee for every additional bottle you buy for the table over the first “free”. This is NOT a fee for BYOB, this is on top of the price you pay for their overpriced bottles. So a larger group is going to really be shocked if they wanted more than one bottle.
Overall, we felt rushed and uncomfortable. We often scope out places so we can take friends when they are in town. The food was decent but not fantastic. I can guarantee we will not be recommending this restaurant, going again, or taking friends. This restaurant needs to rethink its business model and train its staff in both customer service and safety.
Phenomenal food and excellent service - truly one of the few places that have recovered stronger than before Covid!
We were thoroughly impressed by the hustle of our server. She was attentive and quick, despite the restaurant being very busy. She even helped move heaters around when it got chilly.
The food was impressive, as always. The flaming cheese is one of our favorites, but we also love both of the lemon chicken dishes and tried a flatbread for the first time and were not disappointed.
Wait staff was awesome.
Reservations for inside as weather was cool. Inside was as cold as outside as they had all huge windows and doors open. Needed to keep jacket on at all times during lunch and I'm not a " cold" person. There was only one waitperson who covered inside and out, so service somewhat slow. The food was tasteless. The pita bread with dipping sauce was
on the cool side. The pita sandwitch was ok, but the meat was in huge pieces that were not very tender. The french fries were absolutely terrible. Cold and soggy. The cheese on top, cold as well. The dipping sauce for the fries was good . The place was clean, and tables were wiped down after each use. I will not return to the establishment as there are too many other choices in the area.
Please hire a wine consultant. You are missing some very important and delicious Greek wine. Your selection needs improvement. I know someone who could steer you in the right direction.
Enjoyable evening out. Mishap with our starter meant we waited over an hour for it to come to the table -- it had been brought to the wrong table. But staff apologized and comped the starter plus a drink. And it was an excuse for a longer evening out.
They are very customer service oriented. Our waitress was nice. Food was yummy!
There seemed to be some confusion as to who was actually the server assigned to my table and the initial contact (other than being seated) took 15 minutes. Once my server was made aware of her assignment everything went much smoother except it took a long time for the kitchen to make a salad. The server apologized and offered me a free dessert which was why I rated them how I rated them. Hope this helps anyone looking for a place to dine.
Such a wide variety of Greek food offerings. Our waitress was delightful, so sweet and helpful. The food was delicious. I would definitely go back. Also, very Covid safe.
We had a reservation at 8:45- took a while to seat us-
Once we were sat, we were told to hurry up and order as the kitchen was closing. We were not told that the bar was closing and wasn’t able to order another drink. They brought food that wasn’t ours and then took it back minutes later. The “Manager” could care less about our experience-
We will never go back!
The Greek Nacho said that the pita bread would be toasted, it was all fried. Also, for the seating outside, you need to put more umbrellas. Two of us were facing the sun the whole time we were there. Altogether, we enjoyed it. Thanks.
Twice the staff almost spilled my mom's wine. I asked the waitress if the cocktail I wanted was on the rocks, she said yes, then I got it in a martini glass. For $20+ a plate I would think they'd know to bring the entrees after appetizers/salads were finished. We had to ask someone to clear empty plates even though it was not at all busy. The meat I ordered with my salad arrived long after my salad did. The medium steak my sister ordered was so overcooked, we sent it back and got a steak that was raw inside, which leads me to believe your chef can't cook a medium steak. We got dessert 20-25min after we ordered it. The only reason I am giving more than 1 star is because the manager apologized and comped some items. I work in the industry, so I am familiar with how things SHOULD be. It was just unreal how bad the service was for how slow it was. I usually love it here, but will not bring my family back.
I booked an outside table in advance to celebrate my birthday. When we came right on time, there was no place for my party, nor outside, nor inside (we were offered a greasy table inside without enough room & even chairs for my guests! And I didn’t even get a “sorry we spoiled your birthday” from the restaurant.
Luckily another Walnut Creek place did a great job!
Understaffed so service was slow. Great food and street life ambiance.
Service was WAY to slow. Not enough people working. From the time we ordered drinks to the time she came back to order dinner was 1 hour. Food was excellent.
The service was bad. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks. Ordered steak and the trimming came after 1/2 hour but steak didn’t come and I had to get the steak in a take home box since they were closing the restaurant. They started folding chairs on tables at about 8.00pm while we didn’t even got our dinner yet, our reservation was at 7:00pm. The waitress was very nice and kept apologizing for the cook and kitchen staff’s bad service. Steak was awful. Overall Opa has gone down since before Covid. Most likely they have all new and inexperienced staff due to closures and pandemic. I liked that restaurant before but with recent experience I will not go back.
The food was excellent as always and the servers were friendly and COVID-careful.
We had a reservation set for 7:30, we got sat at 7:10, everything was super prompt and the food was amazing! This was my favorite restaurant pre covid, and we were not disappointed whatsoever!
Everything was amazing!
Absolutely the WORST service I’ve experienced in years.
I work in the industry in SF and this was extremely disappointing. NONE of the steps of service were followed. We waited 8 minutes (real minutes) I checked my watch... for a host to greet us. I had to grab someone to tell them we had a reservation. We sat for 12 minutes and I finally got up to tell the person inside that NOBODY had been to the table yet to greet us. Service was seriously the worst I’ve experienced and that’s saying a lot.
One of our entrees was not delivered to the table although the runner said that it would be here in a minute we waited 10 minutes before I went inside to tell him that the last entree never made it to the table.
I won’t go into the food as that would require another 1000 words. Let’s just say that it’s not the freshest... cucumbers, mint etc were clearly prepped at least two days ago.
I’ve been a server, bartender and a GM. I blame management for this. There was clearly no one managing at this time.
I’m actually getting irritated at how LITTLE interaction we had with anyone at the restaurant.
I still tipped 30% and did not complain. But this is inexcusable.
Great service despite the weather and occupancy. Great waitress
The food was bright and delicious. Our server - Angel - was wonderful! Above and beyond friendly and accommodating. I can’t wait to go back!!
