O.NOIR Toronto will take you on a culinary journey through uncharted territory! Guests are invited to experience food, drinks, and conversation as never before – without the use of sight!
A meal will turn into a wonder to be discovered and explored. As the founder explains, eating in the dark heightens your remaining senses in order to smell and truly savour the food. As a result, the sense of touch, taste, smell, and hearing are amplified.
Guests are served by a member of our visually-impaired wait staff in an efficient and professional manner. The atmosphere is romantic, comfortable, and absent of lighting.

The experience is amazing, the food is excellent and the staff are very friendly and polite.
Great experience, food was really good, the dining table was a tight fit, but I enjoyed the dinner.
- The restaurant was cold.
- Both the vegetarian surprise starter and vegetarian surprise main options were lackluster.
We had a very pleasurable evening at O.Noir. Food was good, we choose a couple of the surprise options, you were not always sure of what you were eating. The filet minion was outstanding, and it comes sliced so it is easier to eat.
The only downside was the night we were there one of the wait staff was called away to an emergency so one wait staff was serving 40 people. She did an excellent job! Dinner took a little longer but that was OK.
We have been to O'Noir before and our experience was better then. They were very busy and it felt like we sat for a while, the bread showed up at the same time as the appetizer making things difficult in the dark. Going during the week is a better experience than a weekend.
I had no idea what to expect, and I was blown away! The friendly staff and servers made the experience an awesome one. I was expecting a fancy meal, and was pleasntly surprised with a very “homey” meal, it was quite good. This experience is a must try!
Our visit was interesting. We found the portions well sized and tasty although my Cajun fish was a bit oily. Overall, the service was excellent. We found the noise levels to be uncomfortably loud.
Access to the entrance is down a steep set of stairs which will be very difficult for people with mobility issues. (I didn't see an elevator.)
I came to Onoir for my birthday, we were a group of 6. It was such a great experience to share with my close friends. Dave our server was terrific from start to finish. The food was fantastic and because you are taking your time using your senses and actually tasting the food it was even better. They cut the main food so there was no worries about that and if you aren’t sure if you ate all the food you can use your hands or lick your plate (it’s not like anyone can see) lol... It did get loud and at times hard to hear the person on the far side of the table however it didn’t matter. I had a fabulous time and would recommend Onoir to anyone.
The "experience" of eating in the complete darkness at O'Noir is ultimately what you're paying for. The fun times and sharing the adventure with friends or family make the memories even better. BUT YOU ARE NOT GETTING A 50$/person meal; like you would at a 50$/person meal kind of place. Don't misunderstand me, the meal was fine (and the Cajun Fish that my husband had was delightful,) but not delicious, and everything was room temperature to cool. It was a let down that half of my Risotto plate was cold green beans and my surprise dessert was an "ordinary" piece of box cheesecake... which was a disappointment. ESPECIALLY considering the two other surprise desserts at our table were each different from mine... I expected the "surprise dessert" to be the same surprise.
I have also eaten, once, at the Au'Noir in Montreal and the food was better there. The lobby was more welcoming and stylish too. Though, fairly, the Toronto location has its own uniqueness; in its re-purposed smoking den/club atmosphere.
Overall, I would probably revisit the Montreal location if I wanted to share this with new people. Or recommend it with a caveat about food expectations.
Thanks for this one-of-a-kind.
The waitress was very helpful and friendly. The food was quite tasty and a variety. Only issue I had was having to wait so long for a glass of wine. We ordered then had to wait for a bit before it came. The one in Montreal we were able to have a drink while we ordered from the bar prior to going in.
O noir is an absolutely amazing experience. Some customers were very impatient and started using their phone in dining room which was annoying. If you go be patient as there are only a few waiters.
Would not recommend to anyone! the food is beyond bad, cheap overcooked rice and parboiled zucchinis and mushrooms for both starter and main "surprise vegetarian" meal. This 2 course dinner for two was $100 before tax and tip, but given the quality of the food it shouldn't even cost $5. This is not a high end restaurant, this is a very bad cafeteria that just decided to charge fine dining prices because they turned the lights off.
We left early and saw the food - it looks so bad, you'd be happy you cannot see what you eat in pitch black.
The places looked great and it's the best meal I've never seen
A very insightful and worthwhile experience as a seeing person so be immersed in this environment. Service is slow and it will take you 2+ hrs to complete your 3 course meal. Ensure you wash your hands and use the washroom prior to entering the dining room.
The place was great, but sometimes the talking can get out of hand and way too loud in the dinning room
We really go for the experience. Other than that it would be an okay restaurant. The food is good, but the menu is not outstanding. The real value is the experience which is executed beautifully. The staff are great as well.
The food was cold & the service was terrible. We arrived on time for our reservation, was not acknowledged until we approached a waiter to place our order (45 minutes past our reservation). Many other people that arrived after us were served first. Would not recommend at all & definitely would not return.
Went on a busier day, however staff was not prepared at all. had reservations but was seated 45minutes late. All meals were incorrect. Starters were cold and dessert never came. Unique experience, go on a less busier night and it might be better experience.
Please don’t recommend 18%, let me tip how I want based on how terrible the food was.
The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, love the idea and everything about the restaurant!
The foos was really good. Atmosphere was nice. Only complaint was waited a while for the main course.
Thank you to our server Dave who made last night so much fun for my parents anniversary! We all enjoyed the night and the experience. Everyone was happy with their meals, I ordered the steak and the chocolate cake. The steak was quite tasty and went nicely with the mashed potatoes. I like my steak well done - no redness and I definitely was happy! The chocolate cake was very good and a very generous portion was served!
What an Amazing experience! Our waiter was very pleasant! You have to expierence it for yourself!
Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The service was great and it was an amazing experience being able to dine in the dark.
The experience itself was great. When you show up, you wait for someone to give you the menu and take your order. The server was great and polite but the wait time was a bit too long. I got the 2 course meal with a drink and by the time all was done, about 2 hours had past. It sucks waiting so long in a dark place because you become tired!! The food was decent- ive read some negative reviews about the food but was more pleased than I thought. It is a bit loud in there so that is something to be aware of. The experience itself was great - a must go to at least once.
Forced gratuity, over priced, below average food. Overall would not recommend to anyone.
Eating in the Dark is an incredible experience ,and I would recommend to everyone so they can feel how it is to eat with no lights.
Very great staff. Definitely a good experience. Recommend going people you can talk to for hours on end
Great unique experience.
Great service.
It was an interesting experience, but both my starter and main were cold, and the quality of the food wasn’t great. The experience was novel, but as a restaurant I get the impression that if it wasn’t in pitch blackness this place would have likely gone under years ago.
Awesome experience! Highly recommend for those who want to step out of the norm and experience dinner in the dark. The food tastes better, wine more flavorful and connected to the conversation.
The server was excellent and the experience in the dark was awesome but the food was very basic and really nothing special. It was overpriced for the food we got. I would have expected to taste complex flavours given the fact that we can’t see but my mystery dinner choice was a dry pork chop with store bought bbq sauce and half cooked mashed potatoes - very disappointing.
I loved the experience, I appreciated experiencing something I have never felt or seen before. I appreciate the community of people who are blind or have difficulty seeing. Our server was amazing.
The decor while waiting was horrible, straight out of a shining movie decor lol please upgrade and display more happier vibes. Everything in the dark doesnt need to be depressing :)
Thanks for coming. Many guests like the more traditional style od decor and the color is warm, but we understand that some prefer a more modern look. Thanks for the feedback
What a fantastic, unique dining experience! Our service was tremendous and our food was delicious!
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we both had a great time!! It was a fun and unique experience! The food tasted amazing and all the staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to try something exciting and different!
Definitely consider it if you are looking for unique sensory dining experience.
What an experience. Our server Dave was great. Food was really good. A definite must try experience.
It was a nice experience. The food was fine. What really made a difference was our waiter. Too bad I don't remember his name, he was awesome!
Unique experience to have dinner as the visually impaired do. Everyone should try this at least once.
Glad I did it once, but don't need to go back. Very cool concept with decent food that, by itself, is not worth the price. The experience is cool though.
