Really loved having a meal inside at this iconic SF restaurant. It has been quite some time since we ate there. The menu could use just a tad bit more options, definitely a steak other than just prime rib and they should have bread service. I also think it takes away from the vibe to have sandwiches on the dinner menu. Maybe just serve the brisket as a dish?
Having said that, really loved our bartender in the lounge while we waited for our table. Great cocktails...who doesn't love a greyhound with FRESH squeezed grapefruit juice! I also loved our sommelier Tonya...she was great as was our server, Jeff. We had the gamut of apps, sides, salads, fried chicken, halibut, osso buco, prime rib and dessert! All was good...not out of this world...definitely good! Shout out to their Wine List. That and a little guidance from Tonya and you'll be well taken care of.
I would definitely go again but I hope their menu evolves into something aligned with the grandeur of the space (and the cocktails!). I almost forgot...live piano music...LOVED THAT!
Second visit to One Market in less than a month -- yes, it is that good. We were welcomed in a warm and professional manner, and seated immediately even though we arrived 15 minutes before our reservation. Our server was generally prompt and attentive, arranging for water to be served almost immediately after we were seated and sharing with us the evening's specials. He allowed enough time for us to review the menu before returning to take drink orders and then again to order our dinners. The food was excellent, as always. One stand-out starter was the clam chowder, which was brightly seasoned and served in a flavorful, silky (not paste-like) broth. The halibut was fresh and flavorful; if available, it's a main dish worth considering. And, of course, the view of the Bay and Bay Bridge add a lovely touch to the evening, even for city-dwellers like us.
Wonderful food, nice jazz piano background, and Tonya is a very engaging and super-knowledgeable Sommelier -- terrific wine pairings!
We had a lovely relaxing dinner in a nice atmosphere where we could easily talk
As we are not big eaters, We stuck to the starters, all of which were excellent, especially the deviled eggs a d the beet salad. The latkes were outstanding, best I have ever had The margaritas were delicious as well.
What we especially enjoyed was listening to the grand piano played by Billy Philadelphia. A true maestro! Made for a great first night out after more than a year of home cooking or takeout. We enthusiastically recommend the restaurant.
It was nice to return to one of my favorite business lunch spots. Excellent per usual.
Great food, great staff. One of our favorite places in San Francisco.
There was an OssoBucco special, over Jalapeño Grits.. Excellent and good portion. The Halibut served over bean and corn.. excellent..The Butterscotch Pudding was not as good as the one at Original Joe's.. but it was decent. No bread was served at the table, and we would have liked some.
The food was quite good, though nothing special by SF standards. It was quite cool inside, so I needed to keep my coat on. In most cities this would be a very nice restaurant, but there are many better places in SF for the price.
Food was very good. I had prime rib - done just as I requested. A generous pour for guest cocktail. Attentive but not hovering service. I look forward to returning.
The prime rib was decadent, the fried chicken was finger-licking-good (beyond KFC could ever be). The service was great. They had live pianist performing. The portions were absolutely generous! I highly recommend this restaurant. A perfect combination of delicate and exquisite food together with hearty, generous portions.
Still the same beautiful, warm decor and great service. The menu is shortened due to fewer kitchen staff, but there is a varied selection. The food is not as good as I remember, but it might just need some refining. The weekend piano is wonderful.
It was so nice to be back to this great restaurant! The food and service were superb. We had the prime rib and the halibut, both excellent. Our waiter was fantastic. Thank you for the special treat!
The food sadly was bad. Sorry but COVID must have hit them hard . Not sure how they are going to survive
The food was great as was the staff. Excellent experience for me and my foodie granddaughter!
A very elegant evening! The service was exceptional, respectful, attentive, and well timed. Even the hosts were very nice and personable. I like the menu because it has influences of Jewish deli mixed with a California cuisine. There are so few Jewish delis remaining in San Francisco, so I appreciated the chef's effort. They took liberties with the matzoh ball soup; it was more like a miso with matzoh. But the latkes were exceptional and hearty, and the dessert rugelach were a very fresh pastry. The Prime Rib was delicious -- among the best in San Francisco (I've tried them all), though the food cooled quickly. I will return again for future special occasions!
My first time at this restaurant. I will definitely recommend it to friends & will go back
Great date night venue-good drinks, wonderful food quiet enough to talk with the piano in the background. Can't wait for next month
I highly recommend this restaurant. Here’s why.
Let’s start with the food, which, of course, is the most important aspect. We had the deviled eggs and matzoh ball soup appetizers as well as the halibut and soft shelled crab main courses.
The deviled eggs were great, nice and tangy. The soup was fresh and flavorful, but it wasn’t the genuine Jewish matzoh ball soup that you would find in a delicatessen. It just didn’t have the full body you find in the real thing. I’m not taking off points for that, though. Both the halibut and the soft shell crab were fresh and well spiced.
Now let’s talk about the service, which was great. When we entered, the hostess said, “welcome back” even though we normally only go there on New Year’s Eve. Obviously, she was trained to look at a computer to see if people had been there before, but it was still a nice touch.
The wait staff was also very friendly but here is where the service went to a different level. Clumsy oaf that I am, I managed to spill a little of the soft shell crab onto my lap. The waiter offered to give me a little more, but I declined. Nonetheless, he did give me additional crab, anyway. That’s service at a higher level.
In addition to all that, the restaurant had a wonderful pianist who played the great American songbook as well as some soft old-style rock. He even came over and chatted us up.
In sum, the food was great and the service was even better. Not cheap though. We paid $150 including tax and tip, which included two glasses of wine. It was well worth it for a special occasion, though.
Very good selection of food and excellent service.
You wouldn't know they were closed for over a year. Didn't miss a beat. Terrific food and service.
Awesome service, great location, but food was average
When the waiter put the prime rib down in front of me, I had to laugh -- it looked exactly like the prime rib in the emails I receive from you -- and which obviously worked. It was perfect -- rare, with a large well done crust, with "the best mashed potatoes I've ever had" according to my husband. We will be back!
What a joy: after more than a year closed, One Marked reopened in time for Mother's Day (and it' the only Sunday they are ever open at all). It was so wonderful to be back to and see everyone again. The food is incredible as always and the service perfect. We started with the deviled eggs (to die for!) followed by an outstanding bagel with lox and cream cheese and the prime rib complete with mashed potatoes, creamed spinach and a popover (along with horseradish cream). Not to be outdone, we ended with the ever-popular butterscotch pudding; a perfect meal!
Mother’s Day brunch the food and service was excellent. Having recently reopened they still haven’t gotten the great primo rib being served in a timely manner.
The Prime rib was a little chewy. I was grwteofir the delicious Demi glacé to drag it through. One order would have fed us both very nicely as neither of us could finish it all. A $200 dinner should be perfect. The venue is beautiful and the service was excellent.
So happy this SF gem has reopened. We enjoyed everything about our first visit back since the pandemic began. We were greeted with genuine enthusiasm and sense of appreciation. Service was attentive without being overbearing or fussy. Cocktails were excellent. And the food was as good, if not better, than we remembered. We enjoyed our dinner so much we've already booked another reservation.
One Market is back! They have such a wonderful space. Views of the Ferry Building and bridge. Light, airy and spacious, not cramped. A brand-new sommelier who really knows her stuff. Full and extensive bar with cocktails perfectly executed. Bacon wrapped pork tenderloin delicious, halibut fabulous. My only complaint is that the menu was super abbreviated which was disappointing but understandable in this current environment.
It was One Market’s reopening day and we wanted to support them. The mood was ebullient: staff was so happy to be back; diners were delighted to be out and being served again. The Reuben sandwich and Avocado Toast were excellent, as was dessert.😋
There the first day of reopening for a delicious lunch. A favorite before the pandemic, just reinforced now. They haven't missed a beat. Will be back soon.
Despite most people staying home, the staff that were present made the experience nice, and the food was excellent. Good live music also.
This is a fantastic go to. I have had everything on the menu and it is exceptional. The waitstaff is friendly and uber professional. This restaurants delivers consistently.
It is always a pleasure to have lunch here. The food and service are amazing. The atmosphere is uplifting. Great for a business lunch.
Good food, service and an outstanding piano player!
Very good food and service too!
Server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The lentil soup, puréed over yoghurt topped with crispy onions was delicious. Will be back.
My business partner and I had the lunch special and it was superb. Highly recommend it for the price!
Nicely located near points of interest. Service was attentive and wait staff knowledgeable. The wine list offers wide range of choices with good price range. Prime rib on Friday and Saturday. Nice piano bar with extensive happy hour
Waitress took more than 10 minutes to take our drink order after telling us she would be there in 1 minute. Served my vegetables as if they were for the whole table. Didn’t serve the vegetables for another meal at our table. Gave me attitude when I pointed the error out and asked for them to be delivered. My steak was cooked rare although I ordered it medium. I sent it back and they fixed it. At no time did anyone apologize or express any concern for how we were getting on. Very upsetting to spend $600 on a meal and come away with a really bad experience. I won’t go back.
Food was kind of blah, which was not my experience eating there in the past.
