Came here for my 20th with a group of friends and it was perfect. The service was lovely, it wasn’t too loud, and the entire vibe was great. We were seated in a dining table with a tent and it was great
Not worth the hype! The decor and ambiance of the place is nice and unique, but the food was not worth the price by any means. We ordered the meatball appetizer, then I had the steak entree and my friend ordered the trout. The meatball was a little for our taste and came in a marinara sauce that was cold. My "medium-rare" steak came out more on the medium-well side, and very little went with it. My friend said the trout was ok, but not spectacular. We actually were still hungry after dinner so we went across the street for tacos at The Taco Shop, which were delicious.
We were celebrating a birthday and decided to order all their appetizers. It was a lot of fun to try a lot of different dishes. Each appetizer has about 3 servings. Really enjoyed the fried octopus. The service was very good. They brought 2 or 3 appetizers at a time. A relaxing fun time.
There is nothing that makes the place or the experience awful. The food is over priced.
I wish restaurants would use more acoustic panels. Things get awfully loud with so many hard surfaces.
But the food was delicious
Fantastic food, exceptional food and super fun atmosphere.
Food was delish! Highly recommended and will definitely be coming back.
Awesome food, great experience!
We went for restaurant week. The beet salad was the best I've ever had. The balance of the swordfish with pesto was perfect.
My daughter and I dined at One Door North for restaurant week. It was our first visit and we loved it!
Had a great meal during Restaurant Week and will definitely return to explore more options on the menu.
We checked out One Door North for SD restaurant week. We got there early for our reservation for happy hour, but they weren’t doing it because of the SDRW. We were disappointed but we’re able to sit right away. We did the 3 course tasting menu. We liked everything we ate! Our group did not care for the craft cocktails we got though. Out of the 3 we ordered, we agreed we like one of them and our last friend opted for wine after tasting them. Staff was friendly and attentive. I would definitely go back, especially for the great ambience.
We were all very impressed with the food and the place itself. Very different decoration makes you feel you could be at a glamping site. Because of restaurant week, we had a fixed menu that turned out to be great. Highly recommended for couples, family, and friends.
Great. Restaurant Week menu was awesome.
Came back for some of the things we had really enjoyed last time. Caesar salad was delicious as always if you like the real deal with anchovies. Wanted not have the beef tongue tacos but now they are shorn ribs; still good but not as good. Biggest disappointment was the Wild Boar pasta. Had it before and it was top notch. Freshly made pasta tightly swirled on the plate with the right amount of bolognese. This time the pasta was way over cooked and you can tell that the sauce was mixed in together for too long. Such a pitty when a chef comes up with a great dish but not executed right. Didn’t have the heart to send it back.
Great food and amazing service, definitely a place I’d visit again!
One Door North was such a great pick for my boyfriend's birthday. I originally made the reservation a month in advance and in that time I had to change my diet to be completely dairy free. Our server was so knowledgeable regarding what was in each of the dishes and made sure the kitchen knew I didn't want any cheese on my flatbread. When they were boxing up my leftovers, the plate accidentally fell on the floor and they made me a completely new flatbread free of charge. I haven't had service like this in a long time. My boyfriend loved his main dish and we can't wait to go back and try their desert menu.
One of the servers named Lincoln was excellent!! He made us feel like we were at home.
Had dinner with the family for my brother’s birthday. Food was great!
Enjoyed my experience from beginning to end. Friendly service, great food and love the ambience. Will definitely be back!
First time after spending time in Balboa Park. Watch for parking as it can be tight. There is free curbside parking but you have to look for it. We arrived at 5 and since it was happy hour we took advantage menu. We shared fresh oysters and they had very little flavor. We shared a good Caesar salad. I had the happy hour short rib tacos and they were great. My wife had the outstanding grilled octopus. I had a taste and it was really great. My wife had the Cast Iron Cookie with ice cream and she liked it. We had a very nice time and will return.
Fantastic food made from simple ingredients. All a foodie needs!
The food was delicious, good service, unique theme and loved the s'mores platter for dessert
Excellent food, great service. Little sister restaurant of Smoking Goat, One Door North is more casual but just as focused on high quality food and service.
My husband and I live this place! The temperature was a little warm until the opened up the big windows and a breeze blew through. The decor is awesome! I only wish everyone had the option to sit in the cool tents!
The starters we ordered (cheese board and calamari) were good and well-portioned. Unfortunately, that is all we had ordered, along with one cocktail each. We mentioned to the server that we were interested in possibly ordering entrees and/or dessert and to check back with us after the starters. The server seemed very knowledgeable about the drinks and talked to us extensively about the differences. After we finished the starters, we waited about 10-15 mins before the server would come back again and asked if we were okay. We did say yes, but the server quickly put the bill down and said whenever you’re ready and walked away. It seemed as if our bill was ready for us to go, when we were not. The server did not ask or even hand us a dessert menu, nor asked if we’d like to try the entrees we discussed earlier. In some ways, we found that a little inconsiderate and we just feel we did not get the full experience and opportunity to try the other food.
It took a while to get waited on, a good 15 minutes. Once a server got there he was excellent. It might have been a problem with scheduling that day. Noise level is really annoying. Management might consider buffering the sound with living walls or carpeting or something .The food was excellent.
We've eaten here multiple times and each time it gets better and better.
Experience suffered due to the heat and the lack of AC. Besides that, food, drinks, service and ambiance were great
Our first time here. Was a wonderful space. We had a party of 10 which quickly grew to 14. They were very accommodating even while busy. Our server Emily was wonderful and made sure everyone in our party was taken care of and answered all our questions. The food was delish. We had the oysters? Brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese, beet salad, tacos and steak. Everyone was very happy with their dish. Thank you for making our celebration memorable.
Service was super quick and the trout and fresh pasta were great. What a great neighborhood place.
Great service. The cheese plate was a good value and delicious and the salmon entree - delicious! We will be going back. 👌
Different- unusual atmosphere. Food good, unfortunately it's a limited menu and they were out of several items by 6:30 pm.
The service was excellent, and the tent/outdoorsy vibe really fun for our group. Food was good. My gripe is that the a/c did not serve the entire restaurant, and on a warm August evening, it was uncomfortably hot at the front of the restaurant.
everything was great except for how warm it was inside.
Amazing! The cornbread muffins and Brussels sprouts especially were to die for. The entire space is quaint and enticing. Love this place!
BEAUTIFUL atmosphere and every single employee (waiter, host, bartender, etc.) was incredibly kind. Did not feel rushed or pressured when ordering and eating. A great place to come with friends - might be a tad too casual for an intimate date, but awesome otherwise. If you have a big party, do yourself a favorite and get a tent table! I didn't sit at one during my first visit but they look very cute and next time I will bring a bigger crowd just to sit in one of them. My only *suggestion* - please add more options to your flatbread pizza menu selection. As a personal pizza connoisseur, I just felt a bit limited. Food was amazing though, especially the truffle fries!
I made a reservation and was at first seated in the bar. I asked to then be moved to a regular table knows that the bar would become crowded and loud on a Saturday evening. We had then brussel sprouts and a flat bread with a lovely white wine. The service was excellent, but became very slow as the evening progressed. By 8:00 pm, it was so loud in the restaurant, that I found myself yelling at my date to be heard. Not sure if I’ll be back for that reason.
The bench seats for the table are uncomfortable and the noise level is not energetic but annoying as you cannot talk at the table.
Happy hour is great. Drink specials, $ oysters and other great things!
Also great service!
