Oma's Hideaway is a vibrant, maximalist restaurant inspired by the life and spirit of Chef Thomas Pisha Duffly's grandmother, Kiong Tien “Tina” Vandenberg. Her ability to adapt, to make the most out of limited resources, and to stay creative while projecting warmth and brightness is the guiding force behind Oma’s Hideaway.

Born during the pandemic as a pop-up in the Gado Gado parking lot, Oma’s became a permanent beacon of iridescent light in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood in 2021. The menu draws from Tina’s life story, taking influence from the craveable, soul-satisfying hawker food of Singapore and Malaysia and “turning up the volume” with exaggerated yet balanced flavors in Chef Tom’s signature style. Oma’s serves dinner accompanied by a seasonal list of hand-crafted cocktails and zero-proof drinks.

We heard about the great food here and decided to celebrate a birthday dinner. From the start, this is a low key friendly atmosphere. We booked reservations on open table and gave our allergy restriction. The staff was welcoming and knew our food requests and started us off with a special menu and tastefully made cocktails. Then we were gifted a beautiful dish of Brussels’s from the restaurant. We chose 3 dishes to try and they were divine. The service staff checks in just enough to enjoy our meal and refill desired drinks or cocktail’s. This is a restaurant worth keeping in your top ten list of places to share with friends. Not over priced, portions are shareable, and parking is neighborhood street only. It wasn’t hard to find parking. Enjoy!

We opted for the fantastic prix fixe spread, which was the perfect amount of food for 2 people. Drinks were great and inventive as well. This is a great date night spot to check out!

We had such a great experience! We called ahead to talk about some dietary concerns, and by the time we arrived the hostess had a separate menu for us identifying the items they could adjust to meet our needs. The food was so delicious, well-seasoned and unique. The staff was very friendly. We will definitely go again.

This was absolutely Magical! We tried the chefs tasting menu to explore more options and this was the best plan! So Delicious! It is hard to even say which dish was the best because they were all amazing!They even had Wahaka Mezcal which was a Great pairing to the meal. The dessert WOW ! Fruity pebble rice crispy mango sticky rice with ice cream, a must!

We celebrated my daughter’s birthday at Oma’s, Sunday night. The cocktails were creative and delicious, the meal (chef’s tasting menu) was amazing, and the service was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive.
