Oma's Hideaway is a vibrant, maximalist restaurant inspired by the life and spirit of Chef Thomas Pisha Duffly's grandmother, Kiong Tien “Tina” Vandenberg. Her ability to adapt, to make the most out of limited resources, and to stay creative while projecting warmth and brightness is the guiding force behind Oma’s Hideaway.

Born during the pandemic as a pop-up in the Gado Gado parking lot, Oma’s became a permanent beacon of iridescent light in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood in 2021. The menu draws from Tina’s life story, taking influence from the craveable, soul-satisfying hawker food of Singapore and Malaysia and “turning up the volume” with exaggerated yet balanced flavors in Chef Tom’s signature style. Oma’s serves dinner accompanied by a seasonal list of hand-crafted cocktails and zero-proof drinks.

Excellent and unusual food and flavors! Loved everything and Jane, our waitress was fun and helpful. Very fun vibe here. Moderate pricing as well.

Oma's is one of our go-to choices for a celebration dinner. Last night we celebrated our anniversary and enjoyed another outstanding meal. We opted for Oma's Table and everything was delicious. I appreciate the staff working with my husband's dairy allergy and providing options where necessary. Providing an allergy menu is also extremely helpful. Service is always attentive and helpful without being obsequious. Food and drinks are wonderful. I was also grateful that our original patio reservation could be changed to indoor at the last minute because of the heat. Oma's is a favorite in a crowded field of excellent Portland dining experiences!

Great tasting food. Did the tasting menu for 6 people. Would recommend highly! Patio was a little warm.

Even if you don't order the family style menu option, you should definitely still take that approach. Share everything and leave no questions about what you should have ordered for next time. Big supporter of the fries with burnt ends and the roti.

This was our first experience at Oma's Hideaway. The food was excellent. All of the spices used were perfectly balanced so that we got the zing without overwhelming the taste of the food product itself. We opted for Oma's table menu because we wanted to taste everything, but in the future one could opt for 2-3 items and be perfectly satisfied. The servers were friendly but a little harried with the number of diners. Overall we had a very good experience and will certainly return.

We heard about the great food here and decided to celebrate a birthday dinner. From the start, this is a low key friendly atmosphere. We booked reservations on open table and gave our allergy restriction. The staff was welcoming and knew our food requests and started us off with a special menu and tastefully made cocktails. Then we were gifted a beautiful dish of Brussels’s from the restaurant. We chose 3 dishes to try and they were divine. The service staff checks in just enough to enjoy our meal and refill desired drinks or cocktail’s. This is a restaurant worth keeping in your top ten list of places to share with friends. Not over priced, portions are shareable, and parking is neighborhood street only. It wasn’t hard to find parking. Enjoy!

We opted for the fantastic prix fixe spread, which was the perfect amount of food for 2 people. Drinks were great and inventive as well. This is a great date night spot to check out!

We had such a great experience! We called ahead to talk about some dietary concerns, and by the time we arrived the hostess had a separate menu for us identifying the items they could adjust to meet our needs. The food was so delicious, well-seasoned and unique. The staff was very friendly. We will definitely go again.
