I think I went into this place which TOO high of expectations because wow I left feeling so underwhelmed. Spent about 2.5 hours at this establishment and that was ONLY because everything took so LONG and there weren't that many people there.
To start I ordered their famous rum punch. I tasted absolutely no alcohol in it. Just tasted like a fruit juice. BORING!
My date and I decided to share an appetizer, the shredded curry goat roti on flatbread. After about 20 min they told us they had no more goat and instead would put curry shrimp. We agreed and said that's fine. We both ordered the curry shrimp in plantain gnocchi Rasta pasta and that came out before the appetizer. They then told us there was no more flatbread!! So they will take if off our bill.. let down. (This was about an hour in. Maybe more)
Ok fine. Everyone who eats Rasta pasta knows it's supposed to be a little spicy... nope no spice and portion EXTREMELY small. Left us still hungry. Shrimp was big but their was about 10 gnocchi pieces in there. So we decided to order dessert.
We ordered the carrot cake with splash of Appleton. Without exaggeration we waited approximately 45 min for this. I became so inpatient I told them forget just please bring the check. The guy said "their putting sugar on it now" and walked away while I was still talking. Brought the carrot cake and it was black on top from being BURNT! We couldn't even finish it even though we were hungry. They then also explained they make it from scratch which is why it took so long! They could of said that when we ordered or at least checked in once while we waited to tell us. Instead they avoided all contact until I flagged someone down to cancel it.
The ONLY good parts.. the place is cute. Menus are on old records. & the host was nice, even though she didn't check in with us often.
Will never return. Was hoping to love this place. Such a let down.
OH! & we got the check and the flatbread was still on it. Thank god we reviewed the check
Brunch menu was different from online Brunch menu. The food was awesome still!Hostess was Amazing! Waiter was not good. He was not very accommodating when asking about menu items he was unaware of what we previously saw online and was very short. Other than that it was great.
Great food, vibe and service. I will definitely be back
It was a vibe, love the intimate space and atmosphere. Definitely going back!

Very friendly workers. Extremely nice people who were knowledgeable about the food and drinks.
What a great hidden gem...,
Wings Rum punch are a must!!!!
If you like spice the lamb sliders are a perfect choice, ughhhh everything was sooooooo good I ate it all before I could remember taking pics for the gram lol
For my entree I had the sea bass. It was AMAZING, huge cut cooked to perfection. For the sides I had the lobster Mac and bummed my friend fried plantains all night ;)
Can’t wait to go back!!!
Can’t wait to go back
Dope atmosphere amazing food and drinks! Will definitely be back perfect date nite spot!
Food was so good. I will definitely go back
Came here for dinner on feb 22,2020 . My reservation was for 6:30pm but because of traffic I didn’t get to the establishment until 7pm. My sister and I walked into the restaurant gave the name that the reservation was made under and we were told our table was giving away . So we said ok and we were told that we would have to be put on the waitlist . My sister and I said ok and that’s when we were told that our wait time was an hour and an half . We said that’s ok and declined to stay . The part that left a bad taste in my sister and I mouth was that the establishment had about 10 people in there . They had so may empty tables plus no one was in there waiting to be seated . So why was the wait one and a half hours ? The hostess never even asked if we wanted to eat at the bar where it was empty also . We really wanted to eat that restaurant but after this I do t think we will be back .
Food was great and our server was great. Downside they had the ac on.... yikes
We were very pleased with our experience at Omar's. I had a party of 6. We were seated immediately by friendly waitstaff. The Rum Punch was so good and had a nice spicy kick to it. The chicken wing appetizers were well seasoned and juicy. I ordered the escovitch fish which was delicious. My husband had oxtails, friends had jerk chicken and the Chilean sea bass. All were very happy with their choices. The portions are a bit tiny especially the sea bass but everything was extremely tasty. The restaurant is small and was very crowded so the seating was tight. Plan to get very cozy with your neighbor! Will definitely try to get back to Omar's the next time I'm in town!
Food was AMAZING! The owner, Omar, was cooking and it was delicious! We will def be coming back!
Everything about Omar’s Kitchen was great!
I was so excited for my reservation at 7pm; only to be texted at 7pm to request I come in at 8pm. Frustrated as I was a block away, I accommodated the request by getting a drink nearby. I was then texted at 7:25 to “come now”. With an open bar tab, I said I could be there at 7:35 only to be told keep my new time of 8pm guaranteed. I arrived at 8pm only to find my table not ready and expectation for me to wait further. There were no accommodations or apologies made for the inconvenience or lack of professionalism. I left; texted at 9:30 to express my disappointment. It is my hope that their professionalism and customer service improves. It was a bad night and mishandled.
My reservation was cancelled three times and I waited in the middle of the restaurant for almost two hours before me and my spouse decided to leave. Wouldn’t recommend for weekend reservations.
Lovely staff, decent food. Was my second visit, would do it again.
I went for Brunch The food was amazing. Everything came out nice and hot. The drinks was delicious even the fruit punch they made was amazing. It’s a nice cozy spot and the hostess Nicole was so accommodating as was the Owner Omar. I will recommend this place to all my friends and family.
I will be returning for dinner since I want to try the curry oxtail.

Dope food and experience
Loved it! “I’ll be back” Arnold voice
We absolutely love it! The food is delicious. We got the scallops, which were perfectly cooked, the lamb sliders were absolutely delicious. I loved the taste of the nutmeg/cinnamon in it, the oxtail curry was amazing. That creamy curry sauce went beautifully with the coconut rice and beans. We also had the jerk wings and again it was another delicious dish. The drinks were tasty and very well balanced. The waitress was very friendly, always checking on every table and making sure everyone had what they needed. Omar, the chef and owner, was also making rounds, talking to customers, making sure they happy with their food and service. The ambiance was great, the decor theme and music playlist fit perfectly with the Caribbean vibe. We will certainly be back!
Delicious cuisine, impeccable service, and fun atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Although the kitchen had closed before our reservation time, the chef came out and personally took care of our party, purely out of respect for our reservation and interest in his restaurant. The food and drinks were exceptional! I highly recommend Omar’s Kitchen & Rum Bar to any and all interested in a taste of the Caribbean.
Amazing absolutely fabulous real authentic Caribbean food
When I heard Omar opened his first restaurant there was no doubt in my mind where I would be going that day . Gotta support Black Kings the way we support all the other trendy food spots in NYC . Surprisingly I was able to get a reservation for the same day so I booked and started getting dressed.
When I got there it was packed . Literally . Couldn’t even get inside to let them know I was there . It's a rather cozy spot so it's easy to get that way . The music was playing , people were laughing drinking .
We were seated and so it began .
Rum punch and dirty love were our drinks of choice (especially after all that rum I saw them pour into the new batch lol)
The hostess was so sweet . The food smelled amazing . I ordered lambchops & lobster Mac and now I want to get the recipe for that sorrel glaze .
My only down fall is the serving portions . Usually when a place serves such small portions we have courses , but Omar's Kitchen doesn't do courses .
We paid $22.00 for an amazingly tasty prawn . Yea I said it , $22.00 for 1 prawn slit in half . The food was great ! But I left still hungry and craving artichoke pizza .
Would I return ? Probably . But I'm pretty sure the next time I go I'll be ordering the chicken and waffle because I know that will satisfy my hunger .
Either way I congratulate him . Following his dream full force .
Can't wait til you get settled and start alittle happy hour . Those drinks are almost mixology level .
And work on getting an outside door because the wind that blew through the place made the dining experience a little uncomfortable , but that’ll come with time .
Blessings !
The food was real and spicy good. I can’t say enough about the wings. Would eat them every day if my life. Super kind wait staff. On point all the way.
Loveeeeee This place willl definitely be back there this weekend !
Everything was just perfect. From the drink to the food and the excellent service
I really love the intimate and retro dancehall vibes of this establishment. I thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers over the entree options. The breadfruit nachos and scallops WERE AMAZING and wings were really good. The presentation of the entrees were stellar but room for improvement. 3 out of 5 stars because I want to see this team win and they are so new, it won’t be fair to be harsh. I look forward to seeing them improve and mature into a really dope hot spot! Chef Omar is amazingly talented and I look forward to seeing him do well with Omar’s Kitchen NYC!
This place was so cozy. I was here with my girlfriend and a friend of ours. We were looking for a place at 11:30 who would take a reservation. This place came up and I am so glad that we chose this place. We got to meet the owner as well.
While the menu was a bit limited (the place is new), the food that was available was absolutely worth it. We had scallops, wings, oxtails, lobster and it was affordable. Spent around $30 each. The mango and guava-pineapple juice was amazing. I will be back.
The customer service was amazing and food was great from presentation to taste.
The service and food at Omar’s was exceptional. I do wish that in the near future they incorporate more vegetarian options like vegan stew or perhaps their very own signature vegan dish. Apart from that it was an amazing experience from start to finish.
