My husband and I went for dinner the past weekend and we loved the vibe. We sat outside near the big tree. The food was just ok for me. I loved the salad, but I was not too much of fan of the pasta. The gluten free pasta’s texture was good but the sauce was not thick enough to stick to it. So it tasted a bit bland. My husband also enjoyed his glass of wine. Overall, it’s worth trying.
This place is AMAZING. From the service to the food. Always a great experience that I just want to throw my money at every time!
It was my first time visiting and I brought my loved one. As soon as we walked in it was extremely loud. We brushed it aside and continued on with the experience. We ordered a caprese salad for the both of us and were shocked to realize that it was only tomatoes. Then it took awhile to get our entrees. My boyfriend got the risotto and I got ravioli. Our entrees were the best part of whole experience. Overall I was disappointed because I was really looking forward to eating here.
It was extremely noisy at the restaurant and not enjoyable
Throughly enjoyed our first visit to Olive & June. I will retrurn for the wonderful Sicilean Margarita, summer salad and risotto. Service was perfect as well.
Our server, Jessica, made the experience perfect for our birthday celebration. Food was excellent!
We got humped to the Chef’s table after having drinks at the bar! Alex ( Bartender) and Asa ( Waiter) were amazing! The service was off-the-chart and the food and wine/cocktails were a delight. We will be back.
Wonderful home made Italian with thoughtfully put together sauces and interesting combinations. Gem in central Austin.
We were there during Austin Restaurant Week and they had a three course dinner for $35. The food was both creative and delicious. Also, great service in a very comfortable setting. We will be returning soon!
I had heard good things about the restaurant and we were not disappointed.
Went for the Austin Restaurant Weeks menu which was quite good. Ha.f price wines by the glass on Sundays. Good service. A nice evening. Recommended!
Waiter wasn't happy we didn't want to order all at once but we were hungry, but we were having trouble deciding about wine on their overpriced wine list. Have some lower range options. We are just out for dinner and don't want to break the bank. And if you want us to order at once then drop some bread off so we have something to start. The runner literally slammed our appetizers down on the table so hard that even our waiter gave him the stink eye. Food was ok but for the price we spent for 4 people on a night out I would have expected better.
We visited at 6:30 on a Saturday for a light dinner before a performance.
The service was attentive and made it absolutely trouble-free to split a salad and a primi dish (pasta), only one of us had a glass of wine.
I always tip more if our consumption is way below normal, especially at peak dining hours.
We were ahead of the curve and experience the noise level going from quiet (at 6:30) to moderate (at 7:30). We were downstairs and most of the extra noise came from two large parties.
The food was imaginative and inviting. We want to go again to sample more. The chef's prix fixe three-course that night sounded excellent (built around monkfish as a secondi). We avoid a heavy meal before a performance so I can avoid being super drowsy.
Christina is awesome! Every suggestion was spot in. Very cool place. I will definitely come back.
There was nothing special or wrong with Olive and June. My biggest disappointment was the amount of time it took. Took probably 10-15 minutes for wait staff to show up and take drink order (restaurant was not crowded) but it took a full 35 minutes from the time she took our dinner order to get the first course and we ordered off the restaurant week dinner menu! The main course which was halibut was tiny. The food was fine but not something I'd reorder. The service though slow was pleasant.
Superb food, superb service, and we didn't have to shout over music. My group of five all got the Restaurant Weeks special, which began with an incredibly delicious mushroom croquette. Nice crispy exterior, with flavorful interior, and a love tomato-aioli sauce. Second course was gemelli with sausage - flavorful, slightly spicy, and delicious. I couldn't put my fork down. Third course was monkfish, done perfectly, and not too large a portion, but not skimpy; just right. All of my friends agreed that it was one of the best meals we had had in a while.
Service was superb and pleasant. Most importantly, there was no music playing, so that our group of five didn't have to shout to have everyone included in the conversation. Cozy atmosphere in the restaurant, and great valet service. I couldn't be happier, and highly recommend the place.
Food was good, very heavy and rich. Two of us had a tummy ache the next day.
The food was overpriced and only of average quality. The service was good.
always great service and food, and especially nice to be in the neighborhood to avoid downtown traffic and parking. everything was fresh and very tasty
Really terrific restaurant and I would have given 5 stars all the way across except they had the entire (empty) parking lot blocked off for "free" valet service. So even though the parking lot was empty, I had to park a block and a half down the street. I'm not opposed generally to use of valet when it's a busy night but to block off the entire empty parking lot is just not OK. I was there on a Sunday and there were only 2 tables of guests in the restaurant. When I left, the parking lot was still empty and I had to hoof it to my car. Not very customer friendly.
Every time we go out and about in Austin for dinner we always compare to Olive and June, setting the standards high and keeping them there.
What an amazing menu. So many different tastes, so much wonderful food
Oh Olive and June, I really really wanted to love you. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The outside has a secret garden vibe to it that drew me to booking in the first place. Myself and my best friend came this past Saturday night for her birthday. The hostess was super friendly. She asked us if we were celebrating a special occasion and I said yes we are celebrating my best friend’s birthday. We were seated promptly in a corner booth which was very nice. Our server then came to the table, asked if we’d ever been there before we both stated we had not. She explained the menu, took our drink orders and then walked away. She did not seem to be very friendly or personal whatsoever. My friends martini which contained lemoncello was entirely too tart. We asked the server if we could perhaps do something else, she appeared very annoyed. We ordered a few appetizers, the arancini and a caprese salad. Both were good but not excellent. I ordered the bucatini with meatballs which was delicious, but beware it is spicy! Our sever checked on us a few times, each time as if it hurt her soul to ask. The hostess told her it was my friend’s birthday so she brought us out a dessert. Once it came time for the check is when she decided to give us some personality( I’m sure it had nothing to do with her wanting a good tip).
Overall it was kind of meh. The bones are there to be really great as the atmosphere is very chill and the food was good but the service could have been better. As someone who was in the service business for quite some time I know that it’s not the easiest job or a very rewarding job but sometimes you have to fake it till you make it and a smile or even acting like you give a crap about the service you provide goes a long way. If you happen to get a server that has dark hair with blonde on the ends in a bun and looks like she rather sit on a cheese grater than wait on your table, then I would ask to change servers as I am sure you will have a better experience.
Lovely evening! The pasta and the Branzino were excellent. Very pretty spot. Looking forward to returning in cooler weather to enjoy the patio
Delicious, authentic Italian food. Very refined atmosphere. Exceptional service.
Our server was friendly and awesome in helping us narrow down our choices;we wanted to try it all. No judgement when we chose the lowest priced bottle of wine (could there be a cheaper bottle than $42? I would love that for next time). The food made me dance. I can't wait to come back :)
We had a lot of fun and the food was amazing. Only issue was that the waitress told us there was strawberry sorbet and we got mango instead
As always, Olive & June offers a uniquely Austin dining experience that is out of this world. Cheers!
We celebrated a birthday!
The farm to table food at Olive and June always delivers.
Food was very good. More Glutenfree choices would be appreciated. BIG problem: too noisy. Service good.
Good food. Creative combinations and flavors. Very lackluster service and experience. The table had sound proofing hanging from the bottom. We waited way too long after ordering wine for it to be served while the waiter chatted in the kitchen (15 mins for a bottle?!?). Our waiter disappeared for a while. Our knives were taken with salad plates and not replaced, so we had to wave our arms to get the attention of anybody after the main course was served. Then some new-to-the-floor staff came through to clear the table and present the check because it was urgent to leave while we still had a full glass of wine. But we did enjoy the food.
Our server was competent, but cold. Everyone else we interacted with was warm and friendly (from the bartender who happened to stop by and explain our drinks, to the girl who dropped our cheese board).
The dining room was loud and bustling when we arrived around happy hour, but quiet and date-night vibes by the time we left around 9.
Service was actually quite good, although one of our dietary restrictions was missed initially. However, they made it right very quickly and comped, although we would have been fine with just a replacement. Our waitstaff was very good, the ambiance was decent, and had it not been for a loud party next to us, I would have rated it as quiet.
So - the food. Amazing, savory, excellent. Portions are small-ish for typical American experiences, but in truth we would have been fine ordering just one dish. I had the meatballs as the appetizer, and they were truly a treat.
Come for happy hour! 1/2 off the entire dinner menu until 6 pm!
This was a great dining experience. Every dish was great. We had a group of six and ordered multiple appetizers and they all came together and tasted so good. Our pasta dishes were cooked well and filling. Try the frozen negroni if it’s still on the menu
Easy to carry on a conversation
Staff great customer service and parking service over the top
Pleasing pleasant place
Everything was great! This is our Valentine’s Day spot but we have never ordered from the menu. Service was great, food was delicious. I was skeptical of the broccoli in the ravioli but it was good.
We’re going to add Olive and June to our date night rotation.
Staff made us feel like we were the only guests at the restaurant. Special experience.
