Olea Newport Beach
OLEA, named for a genus of trees that flourish in warm and tropical regions and scheduled to open by year’s end, will be a European twist on the Napa/Sonoma-inspired cuisine and spirits at Vine, the restaurant Bendel assumed ownership of four years ago.
Paul, Brian and Jasmine, what a wonderful experience each and everytime.
Tonight was our delayed Valentine's celebration and you guys made it even more special!!
This is why i recommend you to all of my clients!!
Really loved the place. Staff are pros. Food was excellent and not just a repeat of some other place
Food was great with quite a selection and the service made the whole dining experience amazing, ask for Brians section!
We had a great time on date night. Cocktails, small plates, and entrees. Good all around. Definitely worth another visit. Patio was quiet, Main dining room was a bit noisy. Service was great too.
We were seated outside on a cold rainy night. The are was heated and enclosed but still cold air blowing in. Servers were very kind, and appetizers were delicious steak was over cooked and just not that good. Drinks were tasty. Overall an okay experience. If I were to reckoned or go back, I would just get drinks and appetizers. Maybe try the sea bass. Both the Ribeye and the Filet were underwhelming for the price. I’ve made better steak on the grill at home. Too bad because I wanted it to be good so we have a local place for good dinner.
Not a fan of the schnitzel - dry and taste weird. Sea bass was just ok. The lobster bisque and burrata salad were the only food I enjoyed.
This is my new favorite spot. I love it here. Don’t tell anyone please.
We ate on the patio which is a little quieter than inside. Everything was wonderful. I had the Herb Roasted Prime Beef cheek Stroganoff which was so tender it fell apart on my fork. My wife had the Bone-In Ribeye Steak which was so perfectly done and large. We had great avocado sandwiches with ribeye steak strips the next morning to remind us of the great dinner. Great Job Olea.
Whether it’s Valentine’s Day, or just any day, Olea never lets me down❣️ I dine solo and never feel solo. Kudos and love with lots of hugs to everyone on the Olea team-and thank you‼️
Great meal as usual. Service was very good. We were there the day before Valentine's Day hoping for a smaller, quieter crowd, but no luck. The place was jammed. However, we had a reservation and waited just a few short minutes before we were seated. Overall excellent. Noise level was pretty high!
Beautiful restaurant. We had a party of 8, one guest had the ribeye steak was served tough. He asked for a better cut and it took 30 min to come out. By that time we were finish eating.
Birthday celebration on a Monday night. Probably the best night to dine as it wasnt too loud and we got full attention from the staff. Drinks were 5 star and the food was very good! Salmon was prepared perfect and their veggies were yummy. Friendly staff and beautiful atmosphere.
Always amazing!! Best service, atmosphere, food and comradery. I’m here at least once a week.
I can tell they are trying hard but the food is always just a bit blander them you would like it. Salmon simply poached is not restaurant quality. Chicken schnitzel is too dry to serve without a pool of dragthrough sauce. Even my filet, cooked to perfection temperature wise, needed either salt or a sauce to accompany. The veggie sides are likewise unadorned. For the price I expect a few bells and whistles. The wine selection is great and cocktails superb.
My friends Birthday, they brought out a ice cream ..
Celebrated a birthday with friends. Manager, hostess and server went out of their way to accommodate us and make it a special night. Food and atmosphere are outstanding. Definitely one of favorite places in Newport.
Great menu selections. Great flavors. Nice fine dining in a casual atmosphere.
Always an amazing dining experience!
The atmosphere was loud and difficult to hear and talk. The food was mediocre however, the table service was good. There were 4 in our party. Upon completing dessert, we were approached by Kyle Simpson , VP/partner to move from our table to the bar area where it was louder and had no seats. The reason is he had another party who wanted our table. We were being forced out is how we felt. We will not think about returning.
Dinner was a special celebration. One of the owners Kyle came over to the table to visit us. We appreciated his personal attention, Chelsea provided us excellent service. Of course the food was terrific ... it always is. We had a great time. Thank you.
First time at Olea and last night for the Newport Beach Restaurant Week menu.
Easy parking - no valet but you don't need it.
Hostess greeted us quickly and friendly and we were seated within less than 5 minutes.
Waitress arrived quickly but not too quickly and told us about the restaurant week menu and other options. Took our drink orders but then had to come back because she couldn't remember one of the drinks. Drinks then came out slower than we expected but not horrible. Took our dinner order which came efficiently.
Spice Roasted Kabocha Squash Agnolotti - I loved this. Maybe just a little too sweet but I loved every bite of it.
Fried Green Tomatoes with Fresh Burrata Alla Panna - good but could have been a little more flavorful. Good crunch.
Filet Mignon - always an adventure when you order a FM medium. It was closer to rare than it was medium but very tender and flavorful.
Halibut - tender, flaky, really enjoyed. Sides with it were good too.
Dark Chocolate Chunk & Fromage Blanc Cookies - wife loves dessert but this might have been a little too sweet for even her. Tasty but oversweet.
Mexican Lime Crème Brulee - solid creme brulee. Not sure I got the taste of lime though.
Drinks - not stingy with the pour and made well.
Overall - very good service, friendly staff, food good. Won't be our last visit.
Got sat on the patio which was underwhelming to say the least. If you reserve a table you expect a dining room table not the enclosed patio that was 1/2 empty
All 4 of us were first timers and all agreed we would return again. There are so many choices on the menu that it was hard to choose! I had the Sea Bass and it was delicious.
The Agnolotti is to die for, as well as the burger and fries. Love sitting at the bar, great wait staff, reasonably priced. Love the place!
We were there during restaurant week- my husband got the halibut which was dry, chewy and tasted fishy... cocktails were amazing. I loved the angioloti appetizer. And my lamb shank was yummy... they took $ off our bill, but my hubs wasn’t satisfied. Next time we will stick to Ironwood which is closer to home.
The food and service were excellent but it was too noisy to enjoy. We even sat in the outside patio but could not carry on a conversation.
Food was good but nothing special. Entrees took an unreasonably long time to come out.
Overall we were very happy with the food. The food came out fast and very tasty. Our server, Brian, was excellent.
Fantastic!! Of course. Best dinner place in town
Filet was outstanding.
Olea is an outstanding restaurant with excellent food and friendly service. It is one of my favorites upscale restaurants for dinner. On this visit, my lamb shank and my nephew's fillet were perfectly prepared. My roasted yam agnolotti and nephew's duck liver pate were excellent starters, as were my dark chocolate chunk & cookies, and his Mexican Lime creme brulee for dessert. Our server, Jasmine, was gracious, warm and friendly, and her service was excellent.
Tried for restaurant week with friends. Food and serce were awesome. It is very noisy
Service was terrific... food was awesome... prices were reasonable.
I love this restaurant. The menu is diverse and the food is thoughtfully prepared. We started with the meat and cheese plate. Loved all of it, especially the toasted pecans. I had the Scottish salmon and I asked for it to be cooked on the well side. This chef does not use salt as means to cover poor preparation, thank goodness, and it was perfect when it arrived. My date had the duck wings and a bowl of chili. We both had drinks, and our server recommended a smoky rye whisky drink for my friend that was not on the menu and he liked it so well that he ordered another. We sat on the patio, and I was actually glad we did because the noise level in the restaurant would have made it difficult to hold a conversation (thus the one star reduction for ambiance). The patio was well heated and our service was always attentive. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Olea for a wonderful experience from start to finish!
We had a great time and were very pleased with how kind and welcoming our server was to our three year old. My son was made to feel very important and special when our server insisted on bringing him a special drink (juice) along with the cocktails my husband and I ordered. We were very happy with our food and drinks! Look forward to our next visit!
I felt the atmosphere while nice was a little confused, TV’s coming down into the dinning room make it seem like a sports bar, but the food elevated more like casual dinning, don’t come here if your looking for a more formal or fine dinning experience. Food presentation could have used a little work-messy, but over all quality of food was very good and enjoyable. Service was friendly and good as well. Great option in Newport Beach / Costa Mesa
Have dined here many times and loved it. This time around the service was lacking (maybe because of Restaurant Week) but we were here early -- 5 pm and it still needed more servers than it had. The food was as good as we remembered but if you were specifically looking for a restaurant week food, the $50 dinner menu only saved you perhaps $2 off the regular menu. We ordered one restaurant week meal and one regular meal. Both were very good.
Very good food but had to wait almost 40 minutes past our reservation time to be sat. The manager and owner were very apologetic and did try and make it right but that’s something they certainly need to work on.
Great dinner with friends for Restaurant Week. Good cocktails, wine, and delicious food.
Came here to celebrate a birthday. Great meal, fun atmosphere.
