Olea Newport Beach Ratings and Reviews
We love all the other restaurants these guys have. We were anxiously awaiting this one. We met some friends for Saturday night dinner. We realized right away the noise level was horrible and sitting on the outdoor covered patio would be the least noisy place. Let’s put it this way some of the food was great and some was just ok. In my opinion, Olea is more in the bar catagory than a restaurant. It has a great bar scene. For conversation and get together with friends not the best choice out there unfortunately. And one of my pet peeves is making sure the coffee is top notch. This was not:( I believe if you are going to pay for good food you should have great coffee. And I am happy to pay for greatness.
The service was tentative, friendly, inviting, knowledgeable about the menu, and fantastic overall.
The food we tried looked fresh and tasted great.
I noted under my reservation that it was my girlfriends birthday and our waitress was kind enough to bring her a decadent birthday dessert, which she loved. I am so thankful for Olea and I really appreciate them for giving us a memorable dining experience.
THE EXTREME NOISE LEVEL really dampened our enjoyment of the evening.
The food was quite excellent and our waiter, Mitchell, was most accommodating, but Olea must do something to help with the acoustics.
We had to speak at the top of our voices t in order to hear one another and as we left we decided it wasn’t worth the trouble
I have been to Olea four times in the past 30 days. I have ordered the sea bass as my main course every time and it is without a doubt one of the best meals I have ever had. There is not a lot of options on the menu for those who don't eat read meat, but the options they do offer are amazing.
We had an excellent meal at Olea! Food came out quickly. It was delicious. Service was exceptional as well. The only drawback for me was I thought it was a bit noisy. However, my kids (in their 20's) liked the busy, happy noise of fellow diners and bar crowd.
I came in with such high expectations after being a frequent customer at Olea's sister restaurant in San Clemente, The Vine. I'm pleased to say that Olea did not disappoint and lived up to all my expectations for creative cocktails, vibrant scene, great service, and outstanding food! You did it again, guys!
Sensational wished I I could have eaten everything on the menu
Schnitzel outstanding portions hugh can be shared so you can order 3 appetizers and one main
Vibrant scene youth and gen exes as well as millenniums and baby boomers
Sit on patio less noisy
Can t wait to go back
This restaurant has fabulous food and fabulous service but oh my heavens you cannot even hear yourself think. The owner should look into the noise saving measures that THE WINERY took. After everyone gets a taste of this place they’re not going to come back to have a nice peaceful dinner. I hope they do something about the noise
This was an excellent dining experience! I had the Atlantic Char seafood special and it was prepared to perfection! The only drawback of this restaurant is the high level of noise in the dining room. The solution we found in the heated patio which, for the most part drowns out the noise. Overall, I think this is a superior restaurant.
We are great fans of Vine, and were excited to dine at Olea. The setting has a fresh and interesting aesthetic, but diners should be aware that the seating is very bar-like with many high tables and stools, and the tables are very close together. The noise level was definitely a problem. It was so incredibly loud on Saturday night that our group of 4 had a very difficult time having any conversation whatsoever. Hopefully this issue will be remedied, as the food was amazing. The sea bass and the lamb entrees were perfect, and the cocktails were unique and delicious. If Olea can get a handle on the noise issue, the restaurant is sure to do well.
This is definitely the new “it” location. I took my friend for a BD dinner last Friday night and it was packed. We made an early reservation thinking it wouldn’t be too crowded. Nope! The bar was full, as were most of the tables. And it was noisy! The food is very good, as is the service. Our waiter, Martin, was polite, attentive and friendly. I wish I could say the same for the hostess(es). They were typical of this young generation - clueless about customer service. When I said I didn’t want to sit on the patio, their response was the tables were for reservations. Hello? I made a reservation! We were able to get seated inside, but it didn’t leave a very good first impression.
Our first time eating here and the food was delicious!! We sat inside and the noise level was almost Nauseating. Our waiter was yelling at us the entire time because it’s so loud. We shared the fried green tomatoes and they were my favorite. Then the gem lettuce salad, the grass fed filet and Brussel sprouts all were very delicious. The duck wings are on my list of things to try. We will be back but we’ll sit outside. I hope they do something about the noise level.
Food was amazing . Service was impeccable, thank you Michelle. Loved the menus culinary selections. After having many choices to choose from, I ordered the Beef Cheek Stroganoff which melted in my mouth. Never had it before, would definitely get it again!! Drinks and wine were awesome!!
Definitely will be going back.
Eh, it was just OK. Once seated, the service was ok. Prior to being seated the hostess and bartenders were awkward. Food was flavorless. Drinks were expensive compared to other restaurants in Newport. We had two Moscow mules from the bar while waiting for a table; the cost was $40 and the ginger beer was flat.
I knew Mark the bartender from three thirty three an she told me to come here once they were opened. So we did to support this new restaurant which was great. The selection of food isn't that wide but the food served was delicious. We will definitely be coming back! Thank you and our waitress was amazing. Love Mark and the staff and the food!
Love this restaurant group and their new one is just as great as Vine and Ironwood. Love the changes to the menu here. Chelsea is always awesome taking great care with my wife's specific dietary requests. Only complaint on this one is it too noisy. Was really hard to hear each other.
