Worst experience ever. Even with early reservation, we were put in a tiny booth for 4 with 6 of us. There were still whole row of tables empty.

We had a group of 6 so we chose the all you could eat menu. Beautiful looking, great tasting sushi! We are going back again!

This place was a hidden gem. I was looking for a nice spot close to the Cinepolis and this was perfect. I would not recommend for Valentines Day just based on size, ambiance and layout but absolutely go for date night. Valet doesn’t take cards only drawback but still great service. Hostess had us waiting awhile which was a bad look but food and service otherwise were amazing

Avoid. I'm writing a very angry customer service-related email to the owner tonight.

1) I asked for a nice table for a pre-Vday suprise for my wife. They put us in their most brightly-lit area next to a table of 20+ high school freshman.

2) Our servers were very slow to check on us, and the first time they came over asked for our drink and food orders, rather than drink first then food separately.

3) Servers had bad communication with us and among each other; our salmon avocado and salmon sushi orders never came out, and a different server came over two different times to ask if we'd gotten it yet, and then promised to check on it. We decided to just cancel the order, pay the bill, and leave the restaurant still hungry. We went out for sushi, and over an hour later, didn't get anything.

It's possible I caught them on a bad night, but you can't have those on a Saturday, especially the Saturday before V-Day.

A lot of Yelpers complain about their service; listen to them since they're absolutely right.

I wish I'd gone to San Shi Go up the street. Would have been a first time for both places, but on this coin flip decision, my heads should have been tails.

Like any successful restaurant in Laguna Beach Okura Robata has backed off on the quality & guantity of their Sushi. Roll size is a joke and Halibut for the Carpaccio was paper thin. We sat outdoors next to a family with two unruly kids that couldn’t stay in their seat and threw stuff all over the floor. As locals this is very disappointing but we hear that Dana Point has some great restaurants.

We have been frequently going to Okura and we agree that it is a very good place to eat sushi!! Last time we went, we were confronted with news that they had changed their all you can eat menu and took out various items including hand rolls. We didn’t think we would go back but we decided to take a chance and brought friends with us.
To our surprise, Christine, the manager remembered us and also took the time to tell us the she read our reviews and management made the change to their menu and added back a significant amount of items. That was the beginning of a great meal that evening. The service by our waiter Ed was phenomenal and all other staff were joyful and we had a great experience. As always, the food was fresh, and very tasty!! I highly recommend visiting this spot!!! Great at all hours of the day. And their location is perfect!
Thanks to Christine and Ed for going the extra mile to provide great service.

I had been going to Okura almost weekly for their all you can eat. This will be my last time. The restaurant was not busy by any means and my table received the worst possible service one could get. For example, it took 50 minutes to get a miso soup after we ordered and they forgot to bring out our other appetizers after the manager went over all the things we marked on our sheet of paper. We were at this restaurant for three hours and did not even receive all we ordered. The manager persisted to argue and tell me, "when you order all you can eat, you can't expect to get every little thing you order." I do not understand her philosophy on this or on the restaurants overall customer service policy.

By far the freshest sushi and seafood I’ve ever had and the manager Christina is a gem! She even had the chef make us something special just because, so awesome! Right by the beach, awesome interior, music and vibe. Happy hour all day Monday’s and Tuesday with live sports and late night happy hour Friday and Saturday’s. Had so much fun and can’t wait to come back!!

Restaurant is well designed with a modern look. There was parking (which is important in Laguna). Menu had lots of choices. Prices were reasonable. Service was friendly attentive and we never felt rushed ( we took 2 hours). Food was well prepared and presented.

Reliable provider of very good sushi and other Japanese-based menu items. Extensive menu and have never had a dish that was well executed.

I really like this place and it’s been one we have recommended for people in recent weeks; however, this time we were not as excited. The all you can eat menu was recently reduced and for the most part, I’m ok with the concept; problem is they don’t serve hand rolls . Supposedly that was always the case, and according to their manager, our prior waiters have made exceptions but we were never told that. So I can understand limiting the menu, but hand rolls are important part of the sushi experience that I would not compromise!! So next time, I have to think twice before coming here. If I want the full sushi experience, I’m not sure this will be my spot🤔🤔
Hope they reconsider.

The food was amazing as usual. However, the service was very poor. My party could tell that the staff was trying very hard to wait on all the tables, and it was clear they were severely understaffed. Unfortunately, it took about 40 minutes to get everyone’s drinks, most of the food came out before the drinks did, and half the table had finished their meal before the other half had even gotten theirs. It was very unorganized and most of my party had to ask multiple times for their food/drinks. The manager handled the situation as well as she could, but I think it is important that the restaurant not allow this to happen (especially on a night like New Year’s Eve, when many people are willing to spend a lot on drinks/food).

Seems it was a bad night in the kitchen. Food was good and servers were calm and apologetic but there was clearly chaos in the kitchen on the night we were there.
