Dinner was excellent overall. Food always good. Violinist was nice touch. A little pricey but worth it.
Our family of 5 booked a guided tour of OHEKA, and finished our experience with lunch at OHK.
It was a wonderful experience. We were seated promptly, with no wait, even though our tour took a bit longer than expected.
Gary Melius, the owner of the property, visited us at our table, and he even gave my son a pack of Tate’s cookies. What a lovely man.
The meal was delicious, and the service was great. We were glad we didn’t book the tour and lunch package, since there were menu items we liked that weren’t included in the package price.
We had perfect weather that day, so we were able to enjoy the view of the garden from our table, and then walked through the garden and surrounding area for a while after our meal.
Next time, we are going to try a dinner reservation.
Thank you to the staff for providing us with such an enjoyable afternoon, in celebration of our wedding anniversary.
We went for lunch. Shared an appetizer, had a cocktail and wine, two sandwiches. $100. Sorry, that is a bit pricey.
Waiter was friendly and unpretentious.
We were permitted to walk on the grounds afterwards. Grass. Lots of grass. Saw only one dandelion on 4 acres. I can only imagine this focus is on weddings and events, not everyday dining.
Location was great! Food was ok. Not as good as in NYC. Service was ok. They are not really professional. They look like students part time job. The service should be more elegant as same as the location.
ONE OF THE COOLEST. PRETTIEST VENUES YOU WILL EVER HAVE A MEAL IN. fOOD DELICIOUS. SERVICE EXCELLENT. EVERYONE SHPULD GO AND SEE THIS HISTORIC "CASTLE" AT LEAST ONCE
We had a very pleasant lunch on a recent Sunday. Service was good, and food was very good. Grounds are very pretty. Mostly everyone was dressed nicely, smart casual or business attire. There was only one table of people in tee shirts and sneakers.
This is the third time I've eaten dinner at Oheka Castle. It's the first time I was ever disappointed with the food. The Lobster Bisque was salty and seemed hastily thrown in a bowl with a few fried onions thrown on top. The lobster chunks in it were horribly chewy. The NY steak was cooked well, tasted great. Unfortunately, nothing else tasted "great". The Baked Potato tasted like it was sitting around all day in a warming oven. The Creamed Spinach was salty and had way too much cheese. The Cavetelli Mignon was extremely salty. The Filet Mignon chunks in that dish were rather tasteless. Would I recommend it? For the food, no. For the aviance, yes.
We selected this location for our anniversary that had been recommended a friend
Since we got there the valet parking attendant didnt have a clue where and how to park the car .
When we arrived the security was seating at the desk was to busy on his phone and didn’t even respond to our every day question ?
We have a reservation where is the restaurant so we followed the signs
To complement the wrong selection our table was by a window with zero view I was totally confused thinking where we having dinner in a jail cell or a castle ?!
I guess reality is way better than a fantasy dinner.
However big congratulations to the chef and our waitress the rest is a -start !
The owner was around greeting at every table and did not stop at ours.
One bathroom at the floor for men’s and woman and handicapped ?
Very disappointing anniversary dinner!
My wife and I had lunch with another couple. The service and the food were excellent. Of course the Castle is spectacular. Nothing like it on Long Island. A must visit.
my husband and I have been here several times ,so that when my brother came to visit from Florida we decided to have dinner here and he and his wife could tour the castle. They enjoyed the idea that they would be eating at a castle. The waiter Donny was terrific! He couldn't do enough for us. The salads we order were great. I had the stuffed sole which was very moist but the asparagus were burnt. My husband had the short ribs and asked for Brussels spouts instead of the broccoli , but they were hard so he didn't eat them. The veal chop was perfect and so were the potatoes. My sister in laws dinner however was not good at all, she order the chicken with eggplant ,which was not fully cooked. The manager Steve did come over and replaced the eggplant , but again still not fully cooked. Since my brother is a retired chef he felt that who ever was overseeing the vegetables was a little off his game for the night. This is the first time I have had this happened . The manager Steve however did compensate us with taking the cost of her dinner off the bill. I enjoy coming here for special occasions and this night will not stop me from coming again. I feel the restaurant kitchen staff should be aware that there was a problem so that vegetables in the future will be fully cooked and not burnt before bringing then to the table.
Very good service and amazing food !! Highly recommend!
It was absolutely beautiful. Such a grand but warm atmosphere. Had a wonderful meal and service was great!!
Upscale restaurant, wonderful ambiance and attentive staff.
This is my third visit to Oheka Castle. I brought 4 friends in addition to my husband in celebration of 3 birthdays. They all want to make it an annual thing to Oheka Castle! Special thanks to Jacob our waiter who gave us the best service ever!
Always a pleasure to visit Oheka. Gary Melius runs an outstanding facility. The food is incredible, as is the service.
I had been there before, and my friends were very happy with the choice. We enjoyed the evening, food and service. It was nice to see the owner come to tables and welcome guests.
I have heard about this wonderful place to spend a special night with your someone special for years. So, I booked a table for my husband and my anniversary, a Saturday night at 7PM. We purposely arrived a little before 6pm so we would have time enjoy the castle, to walk the grounds, feel like we were in Europe again and see the beautiful rooms within the castle prior to stopping for a drink at the bar and finally dinner in the dining room. When we arrived we were told to head straight to the bar as there was a wedding at the castle that night and we would not be able to walk around outside or inside. No big deal we thought, then we walked into the bar, expecting a wonderfully different type of bar and found a bar, a nice bar, but nothing special. After our drink we headed into the dinning room and once again, nothing special. The food was good, not great and rather pricey for the experience. The service staff was wonderful, and they did have some live music as well. The abviounce we excepted was not found at the OHK Castle's bar and restaurant. So, I can now say, we've been there, done that, but would never return nor recommend it to others. Sorry to say, the thought that we had found a new restaurant for special nights was lost.
Got to meet the owner of the lovely Oheka Castle!:) Waiter was amazing and the food was stellar! 10000/10 recommend.
The setting and environment is memorable and hard to forget. Price was good too. Because if these features we recommend this restaurant to our out of town friends.
However, the service does not match the ambiance because of lack of attention to detail. On one occasion, our server brought us a plate in which the dipping sauce had already spilled all over the meal (the server may have carried it on a slant) making it soggy and did nothing about it. We also found different variants on our plates that were not what was advertised on the menu (ie, types of bread that come with entree). Another instance involved staff clearing off the table, but leaving pieces of food in their wake.
We went for our anniversary and it was very romantic. Everyone was very attentive and the food was delicious!
Elegant setting be it indoors or out doors.
No other venue can compete nor compare
The castle and the associates that work there are very warm and welcoming.
The room was exceptional and made out experience memorable.
We also had the pleasure to eat at the restaurant and the food and wine were perfect!
I've been to oheka Castle for
Lunch tour and my daughter's
Birthday ,both times Amazing
My family loved that the owner
Came to the table and loved the food
Everything was perfect ..
The staff of OHK Bar & Restaurant was warm and welcoming for our 25th anniversary dinner. From the signature drinks through the scrumptious appetizers and on to an extremely delicious main course, it made our night. Save room for dessert because it doesn't disappoint. We will be back.
Outstanding food and service! They staff was aware and very attentive to dietary restrictions (gluten and dairy) that we had to follow. Overall an exceptional experience.
It doesn't get any than Oheka; Fantastic venue, exceptional food and service; amazing and beautiful location.
it was alright. the foood was okay. :) thats all i can say:)
I took a friend there for a special birthday dinner and we loved everything about it!! The view from our table was spectacular, our server Anthony was absolutely fabulous, the food and drinks were on point, and the ambiance was just perfect!! Couldn’t have asked for a better evening on the last weekend of summer!! Thank you for a special memory!!
I usually eat at oheka for lunch, and have never been on a Friday night when wedding was going on. My mistake, the kitchen, the staff, and the number of people changed the normally idyllic setting to a very different experience. I'll stick to lunch.
My first time. We took an outdoor table which is nice weather permitting. I am a crab cake fan and these folks make a good one. It is a magnificent spot on beautiful grounds. It made for a very pleasant dining experience.
OHK was wonderful. The waitress noticed that I didn't like something and immediately offered a replacement. The food was great and the staff was observant and caring. To add on to this wonderful service, Gary came over and welcomed us. We had a great time and would love to come back again.
The food was AMAZING and the service was great. Atmosphere was really cute and you can walk around the castle after which is so cool.
My Niece and her boyfriend were visiting from out of town. They were so excited to be eating at a Castle. Gary, of course, come by to say hello and made us feel welcome and special. The food , especially the bread and cheese, was amazing!
Stepping back in time and seeing the best of how the Golden Ages on Long Island was, the former grandeur and life of financier Otto Kahn and the Castle he had built. A well done restoration from Gary Melius.
We got married at Oheka and decided to go back for our 1st wedding anniversary. It was absolutely a dream. Amazing food, beautiful outdoor seating and service was impeccable.
I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful OHK was. Sometimes when a restaurant is associated with a bigger name, it’s not great. I can’t wait to go back! Both of our servers were very accommodating and personable. The food was very good. Crab cake was outstanding!
Food was adequate, the service outstanding 🍷
We have been to Oheka before and love the grand spaces and atmosphere. Unfortunately, service and food were both sub par. We arrived ten minutes early for our 6:00 reservation and ordered immediately and simply off the menu with drinks and appetizers, and entrees. Our ten year old was a bit picky about his food, and the initial hamburger off the children's menu was too spicy for him - my husband tried it and agreed it might have been too gourmet for a typical child's taste. The waitress accommodated with some pasta instead. That was fine. What was disappointing was the extremely long time that it took to receive our appetizers (just salad) and then the even deeper dive into length of wait for us to receive our entrees, which were not delicious. The waitress and host apologized for the delay and did provide us with complimentary drinks, however it it not make up for the 2 hours that we were on site with a sleepy ten year old. We love Oheka, and were very surprised that the pace, attention and overall quality has lapsed (at least on this particular fall evening) from that which have experienced in the past.
We had a lovely evening and were happy to be able to eat outside. The service is lovely and the food was delicious. Through no fault of the restaurant's, we were seated next to a slightly noisy group. We took our coffee to a quieter seating area and that was really nice.
