Live music every weekend!
Kansas City has been good to O’Dowd’s, and we love Kansas City. We first opened our hand-carved double-doors on the Country Club Plaza over 20 years ago. We kept those beautiful doors, but have given the old pub new life. We are modern and chic. We are inviting and entertaining. We are home to the Country Club Plaza’s only rooftop deck for open air dining and beautiful views of downtown Kansas City.

Thanksgiving Dinner Special Menus & Offers
We are open Thanksgiving from 4pm till late night. We are operating on a first come first serve basis, come see us for a pint!
took 15 minutes for them to get us an order on a reservation, but food and drinks made up for our wait
The upstairs patio seating and great food and drinks is what makes place rock, IMHO.
Staff was a bit rude, but everything else was fine!
The fish tasted very strong not good at all. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary there and neither one of us ate more than one of our dinner We told them we didn’t like it didn’t offer a discount or anything. We were there on June 8 and not one employee was wearing a mask.
The food is tastefully prepared. We enjoyed the asparagus soup before our entrees.
Really excellent food! From the starters to the mains, it was really outstanding.
Service effective and with the smile!
We dis not stay for the live music, but it seems that it is popular as many people were going for it .
Great place to visit
fish and chips were some of the best ever. I like the KC Bier Co bier on tap too.
Reserved a high top for 6 and didn't get it. Host was a little snotty about it -
Great place! The good was awesome and drink selection decent. I wish they would have started the music sooner though.
Excellent everything! Burrata special was amazing! I would prefer it with a little balsamic-but to each their own. Loved it! Will be back!
We actually went there based on the menu they had posted on their website. Once we were seated and brought out the menu, the items we were interested in weren't even on there. The waitress said they changed their menu yesterday and they hadn't had time to fix it on the website yet. Unfortunately we had our minds set on the missing entrees so we ended up going elsewhere. However, the atmosphere seemed ok, cleaniness ok. Was a bit surprised though that for being a Saturday night in such a high traffic location that they really wasn't anyone dining there.
The flatbread pizza tasted like frozen Red Baron pizza. The signature drinks were an odd combination after 3 different ones I am done.
Great food in this very nice Irish Gastro Pub!
Great experience! The staff was wonderful, good food. A definite place to go!
This was my first time trying O'Dowds since they remodeled and extended their food menu. The atmosphere is amazing, lively and a fun place to go to with friends. I was a little let down by the menu, options were very limited.
It is open and you don’t feel like you’re sitting on top of other patrons, looks newly remodeled. Food was delicious. The hummus and cheesecake were the best!
Great food, drinks, wait staff! Thank you!
Good food. Fast service.
I signed up online for a high-top table for three, It was for my daughter's birthday. The online reservation asked if it was for any special events. Not only did we get sat at a low table, she was never approached with a Happy Birthday or anything. I was really disappointed. Food was average. One out of 3 dishes were very memorable. Probably won't be coming back anytime soon. Online reviews had noted average food and service, and I can concur nothing really stood out to make our experience any different.
Been eating at Odowd's for quite a while. Food is consistently good..(not great but good). Prices are bit high for what you get...but this is "The Plaza". Service ranges from excellent to 'just OK'...(depends a lot who you get)....but having said that, the wait staff has also been consistently enthusiastic and friendly.
If you are a coffee drinker, then Odowd's will disappoint. Coffee is consistently luke-warm...(I know that alcohol is the 'beverage of choice' at places like Odowd's but in an era when even McDonald's has decent coffee, one would think a little more attention could be paid).
Odowd's is a "fun place" to go...lively and energetic. This means NOISE. Noise can be good, making an evening fun...or it can be bad, interfering with conversation. Pick your occasion with this in mind.
The food is good but not great. The new menu is disappointing and there are not that many options.
I think the food will have to be improved if they hope to complete with all the other restaurants on The Plaza.
Food was good, feels like a fancier restaurant rather than a sports bar, but it was very loud.
The food was fine, but we had really awful service. Our waitress hardly checked on us and because of this we had to wait an unusual amount of time for our checks and for water refills. The restaurant was not very busy at this time. We were left without silverware but luckily a busboy passed by and we were able to request some. The food was good, but I would not recommend dining here. This is a great place to party at night or grab drinks in the early evening, but I would not recommend dining.
While our food was good the service was terrible. The manager (?) we think kept pacing back & forth scanning the restaurant at one point even bringing out the mop & bucket to mop the dining areas (no they weren’t closing or even close to it). He never once asked if we needed anything or instructed our waitress (chatting @ the bar much of the time) to ✔️ on us. It was disappointing & while food was “fine” we won’t be back due to the service & strange vibe. Seems like an old bar vibe w/new interior design. Just doesn’t mesh well.
Service was fast and attentive, food great, drinks just the way I like them, new favorite place
Great food, service and experience. Music was too loud for a dinner time but other than that - we will be back for sure.
Love the new menu and new decor. Hadley provided us with spectacular service.
The best smoked salmon!! Lots of gluten free options!!! Amazing food!
I should have realized it was really just a regular noisy bar with food. I put to much weight on the name gastropub due to positive past experiences.
The food may be inventive for a bar. But the quality does not meet the standards of a true gastropub.
Was disappointed as soon as walked in as the place was super loud and filthy.
I should have just left
Initially server addressed table with a smile then her whole demeanor changed. We had a hard time getting her back to the table. Two of us got the scallops, they were very small and total of three for $21.00, I had mashed potatoes and broccoli and it was all cold. The server never came back to let her know until everyone was done eating. Another person got the trout and it was very small and the thinnest fish I have ever seen. I felt bad because I recommended it because a few weeks ago my husband and I were in there and it was great. Food and service just did not go well this night.
Food was wonderful, service was excellent, and crafted cocktails were delicious!
Natalie our server did a great job.
Love the new look and menu. It's a huge upgrade, it's truly a gastro-pub experience now. The menu upgrade is awesome, while still maintaining some of the unique Irish Pub fare that it has always had. Hope to be back soon to try more items on the menu!
The new menu is fantastic! I’m gluten intolerant and there were tons of delicious options. The gf bun is amazing! Love the transition they’ve made.
Great music from Dan and James. And great service from Corbin.
The food here was fantastic, delish! The only problem we had was the noise level, solely by the ambitiously inebriated table next to us. Our fantastic server had to endure them too, and we felt sorry for her. Had it not been for that we would have been thrilled with the culinary experience.
The Reuben is great--at an Irish Bar this is important. The Boxty with the Beef has a great presentation--Beef on a little bit of shaved cabbage all on top of a thick potato pancake. On the negative side, the chicken disappointed in a big way. Very thin and dry sitting on a huge block of rice. For an appetizer, try the goat cheese which goes well with beer or wine. The new look of O'Dowd's feels comfortable and carries a traditional flavor; and we didn't miss the sticky pub floor and old tavern smells.
Very loud but good, service was good and food was done well,
We went there Friday for fish and chips because of Lent. Did not disappoint. Definitely a place that we would come back to.
