Safari Lounge, which had been affectionally nicknamed “The Dead Animal Bar” by Islamorada locals, was a beloved Lower Matecumbe landmark for decades.

Suntex Marinas came to the rescue with that much-needed TLC in the form of major renovations to the building; inside and out, throughout the property, everything from a brand-spanking new full kitchen with all new equipment, to a new and beautifully-landscaped private beachside lounge.

Guests will once again be able to enjoy delicious food & cool drink, both indoors and outdoors, all served up in casual comfortable classic Keys style. Oh, almost forgot, every cocktail comes with a spectacular ocean view!

We have been here several times since they opened. Hope they can make it as there has been little traffic each time. They need to clean up the landscaping on the ocean from as it has been neglected and starting to make the outside look like you are going out of business

Seems like a great location for a restaurant, however the service was poor, needs more wait staff. Food was good!

Nice ambiance, good good, waitress very energetic and funny ! Everything was ok for me and my family, we had fun and food was very good for us.

Beautiful location, average food and poor service. Waitress was busy and unprofessional. Bartender was a bit surly when I asked for another glass of wine since our server was busy. Cook was amazingly helpful and polite out helping serve table.

I rememer this place as the Safari Club, aka The Dead Animal Bar. We really did not need a reservation. The place was about 50 % full. There were more patrons at the bar then the tables. There was only one waitress and she was oerwelmed. She told us that it was her first day. It showed. The general manager tried to help, but... So, no, don't go here. It's not worth it.

Service was outstanding. They let us bring our dog on the porch. Tacos were delicious and arrived very fast.

They were understaffed and slow. Waited for meal for 45 minutes and shrimp scampi was dry. Brought more sauce, but had to wait 8-10 minutes and food was cold

Beautiful setting. Menu needs more options. I would recommend for happy hour / bar food / quick bite , not dinner with friends.
