It was Fathers' Day so some of the negatives had to do with how crowded and busy they were. Parking was awful! The restaurant has valet parking, which is great but the parking lot was completely full so we sat out on the road for several minutes unable to even enter the parking lot. But once things started moving the attendants were efficient and polite. We had to wait 20+ minutes past our reservation time because, as the hostess mentioned, people were just not leaving. And we waited even longer for our food because the kitchen, I'm sure, was slammed with several large groups and all the other tables all ordering food. Our server kept us informed and kept the drinks flowing and we had a table on the patio with a direct view of the beach. The food was delicious! We had mezze platters and steak and eggs and chicken dishes. All very good. Then the Florida afternoon storms rolled in and we beat a hasty retreat back to Orlando. Overall, we liked this restaurant and if we hadn't visited on a holiday, I probably would have given it 5 stars overall.
Father's Day
The restaurant is situated in a great are near the Deerfield pier with a wonderful view of the water. We where expecting a great experience because of the views but the food did not fair well. The scallops rissotto was overly salty and the shrimp tasted old. We still made the best of it and had a few rounds of drinks which was the best part of the meals. The Desert sounded amazing on paper but once we got it it was not so much. Chocolate was hard and not moist as a cake should be.
We have been going to Oceans 234 for the last ten years. We always bring guests from out of town here and always encourage the lobster mac and cheese. I was terribly disappointed that the recipe has changed to a basic Alfredo sauce when it used to be a four cheese with mascarpone, cheddar, and two others. It came out with white sauce and was so disappointed. The fish specials used to be so delicious but they are uninspired. The corn an crab encrusted snapper with the lobster corn mash is no longer. The sushi bar is no more. The choice of a fish sandwich isn't an option. The menu for dinner is very minimal. We used to love coming there, but it appears as if it will be a lunch only place, which is a shame. We had our rehersal dinner and wedding brunch there in 2013 - that's how much we loved Oceans 213.
Made reservation 3 weeks in advance and asked to sit outside. I re-confirmed reservation and outdoor seating the day before. Upon arriving at restaurant, I was told there was a private event outside. They attempted to seat five 200+lbs guys at a four top indoors. Morons. We left and ate dinner at JB's next door.
The place to go in Deerfield Beach! The food was awesome and the service was second to none!
We go to Oceans all the time and really like it. However this time it was very different. Firstly the prices seem to have gone up on the sushi. We normally got two small sushi for $4. We were ordering 5 portions and also a calamari for the table. The waiter said that we only got 1 piece of sushi for $4, we said that was odd as we came here all the time and we alway got 2. We asked him to just cut them in half and he made a huge deal of it, went to ask the chef, came back and said they would do it this time but they didn't normally etc. etc. It was obviously a big problem. Then when we got the bill we were charged for more than we got. We pointed this out and they fixed it. Also when it came to time to pay it was very difficult to find him and it all took a long time! They seem to have tweaked some items on the menu and not for the better! The calamari was smothered in a sickly barbecue sauce which was extremely odd, and my daughter whose birthday it was couldn't eat it. Then her favorite dish, the chicken milanese was covered in a sauce, which is a new addition, and was not at all nice. She has had this dish I'd say six times before and it was never topped with that sauce. On the plus side it was her 16th birthday and they brought her desert with a sparkler which I thought was a very nice touch. We love oceans, of course will go back again but were disappointed I have to say. First every bad review of this restaurant!
We tried almost all the appetizers and were not disappointed with any, the Brussel sprouts could have used a bit more bacon, but were still well prepared
Great Florida beach experience , with fare suited to the location and overall ambiance.
Immediately puts us in vacation mode.
Awesome place, great ambience and great Service. The food was to die for!!! We drove all the way from Miami for our anniversary dinner here...
What a disappointment. My wife and I both had the shrimp scampi . The shrimp was over cooked, dry and tasteless. The broccoli rabhe was tough little twigs, basically uneatible, and instead of parmigian polenta as advertised it came with angel hair pasta. All for $35.00....WOW. If we weren't with a party of seven celebrating my wife's Birthday, I would have returned the dinner
Great food. Great service. Will definitely go back. I had the burger and key lime pie 👌🏽
Always a fantastic combination of great location, ambiance and food quality. Consistently a winner!
Must be my 10th visit and you always get a great meal !
Shrimp was undercooked, lobster over cooked in lobster mac n cheese, grilled octopus was fatty. Desserts were good. View of beach was great. Service was very good.
Has a great atmosphere, food and drink were descent, but overpriced
Oceans 234 never lets us down. Its the go to ocean view spot in South Florida
Great place for a casual Oceanside dinner.
food was very good, but overpriced
very nice setting
it is annoying to have to pay for parking, I do not mind giving a tip to a valet, but object to having to pay in advance
I will definitely go back . Sitting right on beach.
Server was just great. Food excellent.
Our server Tim is awesome, brought lot of fun to us. The ocean view is fantastic! The oyster is so fresh and tender. We had great time. Valet parking is very convenient.
We love Oceans! Going for 8 + years, always the best!
The table was ready on time, my dates dinner was great, she loved everything about it. Mine on the other hand the lobster was dry, seemed over cooked with some hard parts, the pasta was ok and the sauce could have been seasoned a bit more, that was the same thing I can make at home. All in all, she was happy so I guess thats what's important.
Looking directly at the ocean this restaurant provides the perfect setting for people watching, dining and drinking. Food was nicely played, tasty, and reasonable considering the location. We will go back!
Excellent food! Server forgot my drink but other then that it was great!
Extremely loud to the point you can't hear you date. Steak was like chewing rubber. $110 for two people wasn't worth it.
Very very limited menu .. decent food but was just ok.
Very limited menu. Very expensive for the quality of food. I had Chicken Milanese and I don't recall ever having it so poorly prepared. Our server, Tim, was very concerned and wanted to have it re-made. I declined. Why would a re-make be any different? He requested I select something else from the menu. Again, why? The kitchen had already shown me their poor quality.
Thank you Tim for removing the charge for this meal.
As always, we enjoyed our dinner with the very interesting view of the beach and sun worshipers. Constant parade going by on the sidewalk between the restaurant and beach.
Great combo, good dinner, great ambiance, etc. ....highly recommend.
We just got unlucky with our server. The first round of drinks was 30 mins from order to arrival for 4 drinks. And water was always empty. Food and everything else was great.
Great service by Adrian! Professionnal,
Great view of the water. However, as a wine drinker I thought, they could have poured a little more in the glass. Very little served.
food just OK. scallops were burnt. Valet parking was a nightmare. Valets blocked up the driveway so taxis could not enter, leaving our handicapped companion unable to leave for over an hour.
Restaurant underwent a beautiful renovation that truly highlighted their beauty on the ocean side. Parking and valet is still nerve wrecking. Wait staff and general manager went above and beyond in ensuring a wonderful dining experience.
The menu was too limited for me and my guest as well as being pricey.
Great view and location!
We always have a great meal there, servers are friendly, and the view is the best. Recommend it highly.
Had a reserved time for outside
They brought out a small table for 2 and sat us next to the door, one seat had a rip in the back!
We have been patrons for over 10 years but this experience was not good... seated at a terrible location on a temp table, menu selection incredibly reduced, food average and prices terribly increased! Our waiter however was great!
Our waiter Rob was attentive but not intrusive we had the most amazing time we were there for quite some time and we never felt rushed to leave
This place is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. Our waiter couldn't describe the specials. Don't charge me $39 for a plate of scallops and have the bar filled with people in shorts and backwards hats who can't afford to eat there. EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE
Oceans use to be very good...there is not much on the menu to choose from...and their signature dish lobster mac n cheese was not cheesy at all and the lobster was chewy. The one thing it has going is the view and people watching. Maybe just go for the drinks and appetizers...
Food was extremely average!
