I gave only 1 star for everything because the restaurant is no longer open. The issue I had was that we called to check an hour before our reservation, voicemail still says they are open and gives the hours of operation. Very disappointed that our reservation was never canceled and we were forced to find another location on our wedding anniversary. Bad business practice for sure.
Oceanaire is out of business on J Street in San Diego. Sadly we made reservations for a special birthday dinner and when we arrived we found out that it wasn’t there.

Prices have gone up due to COVID but still delicious food.
We ordered oysters but never seen it. Waitress told us that he thought that somebody had already brought it. Sitting outside its getting cold, no heaters. Food is really overpricing for that place and quality. Really disappointed.

Totally understanding of the covid dining with less staff. However, food/service didn't live up to the expectations. We imagine the beautiful upstairs dining full w a full staff and a completely different experience.
Joined during COVID so had restrictions for sit in dining. Sat outside and it was still very pleasurable and the food was amazing! Service was top notch too! Highly recommend to try this place!
I had an amazing time with my beau at this delightful restaurant, with spacious seating outside, friendly staff who quickly seated us earlier than our time. They served amazing appetizers, drinks and the food was phenomenal.
Great customer service. We ate outside because of the Corona virus. Food was good. Desert was a bit commercial but overall very good.
Given the Covid situation most people are outside eating so it’s a little warm outside and cannot get in exact feel of the ambience the food was amazing it taste great maybe would recommend having one extra waiter so it’s not so busy for them.
The food it Oceanaire is absolutely delicious and the service is impeccable I highly recommended chicken fried Lobster it is outrageously good
We celebrated my birthday at Oceanaire with a group of 12. Josh was our waiter and he was fabulous! We had an outstanding experience :)

The ribeye was good but lobster and oysters weren’t worth the price in my opinion. Wasn’t a super memorable eating experience given what we paid.

We always love Oceanaire! The food is and was spectacular. I had the fresh lobster but our friends had the filet and both were delicious. I know with COVID you have to have limited menu but I felt the offerings were plentiful. Social distancing was adhered but never too cumbersome. It was our 38th wedding anniversary and as always we had a wonderful evening.
They have done a great job with social distancing. We had a good first experience. Everyone was friendly and very attentive
Philip the manager greeted us and he was pleasant and friendly. Andrea took care of us and she was fantastic. Other co-workers also did their part and they were great as well.
Excellent food and service....a bit strange as not many people in restaurant
This place just didn't blow us away- especially for the price. Everything was fair to good but not outstanding by any means. I would say the service/server was upbeat and made the experience a bit better but overall we walked away slightly disappointed. We went in to celebrate a special occasion (anniversary) and our experience left us doubtful that we'd go back again.
Great restaurant. Great service. We had the Father's day special (10oz filet mignon and 2 five oz crab cakes), ny strip, and hashbrowns. Would recommend everything!

Daniel the Executive chef prepared a letter perfect meal this past Thursday that I will long remember.Seared scallops & crab cakes that were cooked to perfection stunningly prepared magazine photo shoot ready.True Alaskan Halibut magnificently sourced with the utmost freshness and divine execution.
Such breathtaking performance keeping it simple with the best quality possible is what sets the masters apart from those that frequently miss the mark.Having dined for years @ Oceanaire this meal in particular stands out. This level will keeping me coming back 4 x as much and not visit other nearby spots .Keep up the great performance as the expectation has now gone higher :)!
Careful spacing and sanitation. Beautiful room. The whole 2# lobster special was a deal. It is best to buy a Landry's gift certificate or card at 15% off and use that to pay.
Only negative was being charged for the optional bread service that had been included.

Food was amazing. The setting was nice. The staff from the host to the waitress/waiters were friendly and kind.
I know its covid but it took 3 hours to have a meal. Unacceptable.
So it's been a while for everyone. Somethings are just going to be what they are. Empty tables for social distancing, servers with masks, etc. Kinds of hard from an ambiance perspective to not look like the business is struggling. Design elements don't work at less than half capacity. But I can accept that for a good meal. Servers tried very hard to please. Felt like the bus boy was stressed. Kept filling the water glass but got as much on the table as in the glass, multiple times. Food was quick. Had a Caesar salad. They kindly split it for us. Was delicious. Nicely dressed, good looking, fresh ingredients. Had a shrimp cocktail. Several of the shrimp weren't cleaned properly. My wife couldn't eat it after seeing that. Entrées came out piping hot (good!) and were nice. Seafood grill and Chef's special scallops. Drinks were prompt and good choices. Had dessert (flourless chocolate cake) and it was good. Asked for coffee and it wasn't hot. Server apoloogized and got us some frm a "fresh pot" and it was fine. So, overala just an ok meal at a place we've eaten at multiple times before. We'll go back and give em another try in teh future.

YOUR MANAGER OR OWNER MAY THINK IT'S GREAT, BUT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO CARRY ON A PLEASANT CONVERSATION. WE COULDN'T TALK LOUD ENOUGH ACROSS THE TABLE TO BE HEARD WITHOUT SHOUTING AT EACH OTHER.
SO, WE ATE QUICKLY, AS FAST AS THE HELP BROUGHT IT, AND "GOT THE HELL OUT", SKIPPING YOUR MARVELOUS SELECTION OF DESERTS.
THE PSYCHOLOGY OF FAST AND LOUD MUSIC IS A HUGE NEGATIVE.

Oceanaire never disappoints. From the drinks to dessert you can't go wrong with eating at Oceanaire. There happy hour is awesome as well.
