   I felt like I was dining in a nightclub since the music was so loud (this was 6pm!) over priced for the food and drink.

   Hubby and I were celebrating an anniversary and decided to stay at London House and visit Ocean Prime restaurant in Chicago. I must say I was underwhelmed by the experience. The hostess was not welcoming at all, and seemed as if she didn’t want to be there. The ambiance was good, just somewhat loud due to parties celebrating at the time. Also, back booth table we were seated at is probably the worst seating area since back of the booth is right up against the waiters buffet station for picking up dishes and it’s quite noisy from their talking while hanging out and all the “clanking” noises being made. The food, imo was not worth the price paid. Hubby ordered the rib eye steak medium, which was flavorless and most likely not a good quality grade as the price point would suggest. The two lobster tails I ordered were very small and not the best tasting either. The French onion soup was extremely salty, although you do get a good portion size for the price. The bread at the table was hard, cold and not good- (this is usually the cherry on top at most restaurants). I did enjoy the drinks which were pretty good and the tasty, warm butter cake for dessert we were given for our anniversary. I gave 4 stars overall for service because we had a fun waiter, the manager did engage with us from time to time, which was nice, and water was always on point at our table. However, food should be much better for the prices paid.

   We stayed in the downtown area to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and mentioned this in the reservation. The restaurant took note, and treated us to complementary champagne and dessert, and the nicest surprise when we opened our menus. That, on top of excellent food and service. A big Thank You! shoutout to Ocean Prime for making our anniversary extra special and memorable!

   Food was very good. Music was loud and difficult to have a conversation at your table. Bathrooms were very far from seating area for dining. Our waiter was very slow and did not seem to care if we were waited on or not. Now the bus boy getting water was exceptional.

   This was my second time at Ocean-Prime Chicago, and it didn't disappoint. If you like seafood or steaks, it can't be beat. Their pretzel rolls are soft and warm, perfect for melting butter. I started with a half dozen oysters on the half shell, their private label offering (cape cod). Served with a cocktail sauce with plenty of extra horseradish on top for mixing in. Next I had the Halibut, Halibut you say, such a common fish in a fancy restaurant. Unlike no other I've ever had. Served over a bed of gnocchi and lobster meat, with a tomato/lemon au jus. Out of this world. I would have loved to try one of their sushi rolls, or salads, but I'll save that for next time. I can't say anything about the deserts, except they looked amazing as they went by, too full for that. But I can comment on one of the best old fashions I've had. Added to the 4 Roses bourbon and Angostura bitters, was Aperol, gave it a sweetness unlike others. I actually went to the bar after I finished my meal to have another and get the recipe. The service was outstanding, if not a little too fast. I was eating alone so it didn't bother me, but if I had company I probably would have wanted a little more time between courses. Overall a great experience; great service, great food and great drinks. I highly recommend it for couples and business meetings. Probably not a great place for younger kids though.

   Ocean Prime is now my absolute favorite restaurant in Chicago. The food was extraordinary. The cocktails were wonderful and the service was outstanding! Erin, was easily the most informed and gracious server I have ever had in my travels around the world. I will be looking for reasons to have meetings at Ocean Prime from now on. I will never understand how I hadn't been to this amazing establishment before!

   We started off with a drink at the bar served by Adam who was very friendly and accommodating. We were seated by a window with a beautiful view of the city and river and the decor and ambiance is classy but relaxed. Mercedes was very knowledgeable about the menu, personable and accommodating. We had a delicious and tender (tasty but not fatty) boneless ribeye which we shared along with the perfectly prepared ahi tuna and amazing mashed potatoes with cheesy topping and tasty but not spicy jalapeños. The chocolate peanut butter moose dessert was delicious and surprisingly light and sizable portion. The service, food and atmosphere was perfect!

    Excellent experience, deserves a Michelin recommendation. Some of the bus people need to be better trained so they don’t reach across table. Overall very good and would go back. Strong wine list, weak in Bordeaux.
