About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Good for business meals
  • Great for creative cocktails
Oak Steakhouse Raleigh continues the legacy of the original Oak Steakhouse in Charleston, SC, with a modern take on the classic steakhouse. Located in the Warehouse District of downtown Raleigh, Oak Steakhouse offers an innovative approach to steakhouse dining, serving farm-fresh dishes alongside steakhouse classics. Under the direction of executive chef Todd Woods, Oak's menu highlights the restaurant's relationship with local farmers and purveyors. To complement the menu, Oak's expansive wine list features California Cabernet and Old World reds, including a selection of Italian and Spanish wines, as well as an array of artisan domestic wines. In celebration of Raleigh's local brewery scene, Oak Steakhouse showcases local brews alongside domestic and international beers. Classic and creative, seasonal cocktails are also on the menu.

Atmosphere is fine and the restaurant was pleasant. We did not order appetizers, just main course. One burger, delivered lukewarm and medium instead of medium well. One filet, also lukewarm. One double cut pork chop nice and hot. The sides we ordered arrived about 10 minutes later after apparently sitting around. Had to ask where they were. The expectation for any restaurant, let alone one positioning itself as a high end steakhouse, is that the food ordered for a main course arrives all at once. Hot food should also be hot. The sides were odd, Mac and cheese brought to mind campsite velveeta, and there was no decent vegetable offering - just collards(covered in cream which we chose) and peppers.

The food was amazing. The waiter was exceptional. The house wine was just OK. We sat in a half booth facing tables on the opposite side that faced the window . At first we were delighted to have the half booth all to ourselves. However, we quickly realized the seat sagged & our backs hurt after 20 minutes . It definitely needs replaced because it also makes eating difficult as the table is too high then. Ambience was great once the sun went down. For some reason, the waiter opened the blinds as the sun was setting, causing it to be less romantic . In all, if we were at a different seat, everything would’ve been perfect.

We brought a friend out to celebrate his retirement. We love The Oak Steakhouse and have had great dinning experiences here; however, this experience not so much. The food was just so, so. We waited a very long time for our entrees to come out. Then no one’s steak was cooked properly- correct temperature. We had already waited so long between the appetizers and the entrees we weren’t going to send them back. We were embarrassed and disappointed that we had hyped up the restaurant to our friends only to be disappointed.

At least 3 of us had our ribeyes were very undercooked. Ordered medium and they were rare, just seared. Had to flag down waiter to let him know since he never inquired after 10-15 mins. I feel that should be standard procedure at the best steakhouse in Raleigh.

My family had a wonderful time at The Oak. 2 of our 4 was incredibly satisfied with our food and the value. The other two felt that their 32oz shareable t-bone was lacking for the price.
