Amazing is all I can say. But bring friends because this place is best when shared with the ones you love!
We had a great time with over the top fantastic service!! Delicious food and great wine list!!!!
The food doctor price to quality ratio is a 4.4 out of five
Appetizers: meat and cheese board and the scallops. Presentation, preparation and seasoning were on point.
Main: Halibut with quinoa- halibut was perfect however I found the quinoa a bit lemony for my taste. At times it did over power the fish. Chef Alex has a very good feel on his seafood offerings especially with regard to not over or under cooking.
I was not disappointed and would recommend this location without hesitation. It’s not a classic steakhouse therefore there is something interesting for most people.
Perfect brunch! My husband and I only come here for brunch and every time we are never disappointed. From the service, to the drinks, to the food, everything is amazing! Our favorite place in Charlotte for brunch for sure!
Food good but service off..
Truly excellent service. Food was really good, but overpriced. Wine list was relatively small, but cocktail list was nice. There are equally good steakhouses that cost less within a mile.
First of all the general manager Justin Shoener is simply a great guy. He cares about his restaurant an the service rendered. His executive chef, Alex will definitely make a name for himself with a few tweaks and keeping the menu rotating around some key mains. Alex, don't let the menu get stale! You have talent, use it to keep the place fresh, interesting and inviting .
Overall score on the Food Doctor P/Q ratio = 4.5 (price to quality ratio)
Bar: The bar has classic cocktails and a few interesting takes on mixology. I found the the Trillionare Libation to be interesting. I went for a classic vodka martini with grey goose. Believe it or not, there are bartenders all over who can mess up this classic, but not here. It was done very elegantly and correctly.
Appetizers : 1) Highly recommend the pan seared scallops - this plate is put together very well with each element complimenting the key ingredient , scallops! 2) Grilled octopus - the octopus was grilled perfectly without overcooking. I have found very few places that actually prepare octopus without rubberizing. However, the sea island red pea salsa needed some liveliness and the red pepper caramel was somewhat overpoweringly sweet and could have used some seasoning. Overall it was a successful dish because the octopus spoke for itself not requiring the reset of the ingredients.
Main: Debragga Dry aged CAB prime bone in ribeye - enough said - get it! 8 ounce lobster tail was perfectly done and paired well.
Wine Selection: Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 - smooth, silky, with blackberry, vanilla butter rounded out with a licorice smoke. Medium body, great olfactory sense and visual color. Easy to drink without bite
Desert and Desert Drinks: The creme brûlée cheesecake - its a unique mix - not to dense, not to mousse like. Firm softness, not overly sweet in the cake but enhance with the brûlée on top.
I recommend the La Fleur D'OR Sauternes 2013 - light crisp pairing with desert.
So glad I found Oak Steakhouse on Open Table. Very enjoyable evening, fantastic food and the best service I have had in a long time.
Must try the dry aged steaks...They cost a little more, but well worth it.
Southern hospitality at its best. Thank you Oak Steakhouse, I will return when I am in Charlotte next!
The staff is always super attentive. Some of the best steaks I have ever tasted. Great hospitality. Well worth the price. Very well done restaurant.
Had a nice visit to Oak Steakhouse. Had reservations with another couple. Overall, the experience was good. The service was great - timely, but didn't rush. The food was very good. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The only complaint to be had was that we were seated at a semi-circular booth directly facing a stand-up bar table where numerous people congregated throughout the night which raised the noise level quite dramatically. This made it difficult to converse with the people we went to dinner with. Might suggest moving the stand-up tables slightly.
Expect that we will return to Oak Steakhouse.
The staff and service were top-notch. The bartenders were fun and knowledgeable. The food was great especially the octopus and homemade bread.
Delicious food - try the foie gras, it's amazing! Generous portions. Top-notch service. Not super quiet (somewhat open to the large bar area) or cozy, so not really a great spot for a romantic evening or intimate conversation.
We went here on a plain, old fashioned date on a Sunday night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was great - anybody that walked by was willing and able to help us with anything we might need. We also got a free tasting-size appetizer from the kitchen that was outstanding. Our steaks were prepared as requested and the size was great. Overall a great experience and definitely recommended.
Great food & ambiance. Service was a tad slow, but nothing crazy. Definitely will go again.
First time diner here. Service was off the charts; sazerac was excellent; food was perfect including a special request for the vegan in the crowd. Will definitely be back.
Very good. Especially enjoyed our oysters Rockefeller. Huge order of fries. Good beef carpaccio. Thanks for a great meal.
Quite noisy and food was very salty.
Great can’t wait to go again!
Very fancy and such beautiful vibes. But the waiting staff is slow and kitchen.
The food was great as was our waitress . Our husband and I had a wonderful time dining at Oak steakhouse tonight . Look forward to dining with you again .
Winston was awesome!
Enjoyed a nice evening! Service was slow. It took almost 2 hours from sit down to getting our meal. We did order appetizers though. The shrimp cocktail was amazing. I always get the filet. Cooked to perfection! Our table was ready ahead of our reservation which was nice. I do think the food is over priced. But with that said I would go back. Reason 4 stars
The atmosphere was nice. Food was a bit bland for the $. Service was excellent. We will go back but likely for cocktails and apps. Not for sit down dining. There are so many other amazing restaurants for the cost and experience
Food was pretty good but not necessarily better than any of the other steak places in town. Service was surprisingly lackluster, a curious mix of trying to rush us and lack of attentiveness, especially for the price. Good interesting side dishes - and the steaks are solid.
Best steak I have ever had!
The food and service was exceptional. We arrived and felt special. Good vibes all around and the eats from app to dessert were tasty and prepared very well with great presentation. Going back near future!
Loved it! We met good friends for an early meal, they had been before , we had not. Our waiter was wonderful, the decor so beautiful & comfortable and the steak was the best I’ve ever eaten! Not to mention the wine and dessert! A perfect evening! Thank you!
The service was spectacular, considering I had a reservation and the host wasn't ready to sit my party for 30 minutes. Staff manager was very polite, purchased our first round of drinks as a way to apologize for the wait. Although it wasn't necessary, it was a very nice gesture.
Our waiter, Jonathan was polite, informative, and fun. We didn't feel rushed and we enjoyed the ambiance a great deal.
Awesome food, service and ambiance!!! Can't wait to return.
I have been several times to Oak and have been so pleased. Tonight was such a disappointment. Apparently they have run out of food! The bread was stale. The soft drink was flat. They were out of foie gras (which is one of the reasons we came) and they were out of many of the dry aged cuts.
Normally, you are served with some extra samples along with your courses, we were given nothing. We were told because we avoid pork and shellfish, there would be no extras. I guess their chefs were out of ideas? For the prices charged and reputation of this restaurant a real letdown.
Wait staff was wonderful. Oyster Rockefeller was on point. Generous portions for main course. Waitress sent us home with a delicious slice of Creme Brûlée Cheesecake on the house. Will be back soon
We decided to try brunch at Oak on Sunday and were very impressed! The food was superb and the service top notch! Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us good recommendations, by far the best meals out we've had in a long while. The restaurant manager came by to check on us and we chatted with him for a bit, he was very friendly and welcoming. We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant and all the Oak wood work throughout. How have we not been to this place before??! We will definitely be going back.
Great food. Great service.
Dinner was great, we were never rushed and we took our time. Waitress was very helpful in answering all my questions and narrowed my steak cut choice down. Steak was cooked perfectly and the grilled octopus was excellent. Will definitely come back here again.
Had a wonderful experience. Celebrating wife’s birthday and every staff member made her feel special. Justin the manager gave us a special gift and made us both feel special. Great attention to detail. Delicious nicely-cooked steak. Martinis were what a connoisseur would expect... plan to be back . Thank you Oak Steakouse and all the staff!!
Wonderful waitress - personable, knowledgeable on wines and pairing. Fantastic food and the filet was perfect.
Went for a girls’ dinner (4 of us) on a Thursday night. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Ordered 4 cocktails and they took 25 minutes to arrive! Manager delivered them and gave us the round on the house, which was nice. But had to send my dirt martini back due to their mysterious addition of lime juice (???). The second one was without lime and much better. We all ordered 1/2 orders of salads. While they were good, they were way too lettuce-heavy and not enough other ingredients - expensive bowls of lettuce! Chef sent complimentary pork ravioli, which our server had even recommended, but none of us even finished one ravioli - they had no flavor and the pasta was too al dente (i.e. chewy & tough). Two of us ordered fish and two the 8oz filets. The fish dishes were delicious. The steaks were awful. While both were perfectly cooked, they had the worst chemical flavor - like they’d been cooked over lighter fluid. I could only take a few bites and actually thought maybe my taste buds were “off”; however, my friend commented on how badly hers tasted and I realized it wasn’t me! I had ordered my steak medium rare and while there was never any “jus” coming out (isn’t there always red running out of a relatively rare steak?), there WAS a grey/black liquid on the plate, which I can only assume had to do with the horrible flavor of the meat. I had such high hopes for this place but just cannot go back or recommend.
Excellent menu and portions are generous.
The food was excellent and our waiter Joshua was great. Very helpful and friendly. Food was expensive but worth it.
Fantastic quality and taste on the steaks! Going back again for sure...
