Absolutely fantastic! I have been to Oak Steakhouse multiple times and they are consistently providing excellent service and delicious meals. I’m always excited to go and never disappointed! Easily the best restaurant in Charlotte.
My boyfriend and I went to Oak to celebrate a special anniversary and much to my surprise the staff was all aware and congratulatory and genuinely pleased to help us celebrate! the manager brought us a champagne toast and chatted with us for a minute.
The wait staff was attentive and kind, and our waiter gave us some sound advice to assist in assuring we did not over order. The food was really wonderful. We split a meat and cheese board, which had a combination if excellent flavors - I would have preferred an extra cheese over the large portion size of the goat cheese but I am not a fan of goat. The steaks were cooked perfectly and my boyfriend said his lobster tail was perfect as well. I ordered the Bearnaise sauce and rosemary butter for dipping but could have done without both - they were good, but the steak was great on its own. Lastly, dessert - we got the choc mousse cake to go...it was decadent. Overall, I could not have been happier with the food, the staff and the overall experience.
One of the best steaks I have had.
This is definitely the best steak restaurant in Charlotte
Friendly and efficient staff.
It's not often my wife and I get to make it out to dinner without our little one. Tonight we did and headed over to Oak. It was our first experience there, but certainly won't be our last.
First, the space - the decor/ambiance was great. Upscale, well decorated, but not overdone. The space was relatively quiet (probably to be expected on a random Thursday night following a holiday), save for a couple parties and a line of people at the bar. Good music playing, but not so loud that it hindered conversation.
Second, the service - STELLAR. Our waitress was fantastic. Attentive, informative, but not pushy or obnoxious. She shared some recommendations, most of which we went with, and made sure we had everything we needed and we never found the bottom of our drinks. Other servers also checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying everything.
Finally, the food... we started with salads. Fresh, maybe ever so slightly overdressed. Then we split the mixed grill so we could try a few different things, and added a few sides. The mixed grill comes with strip, tenderloin, and lamb. Lamb was so-so, but I'm not a big lamb guy anyway. Both cuts of steak were delicious, as were the potatoes they were served with. Sauteed seasonal veggies were great, with a kick (sauteed with some Texas Pete, I believe). The Mexican Street Corn was okay, but not our favorite. Finally... don't stuff yourself. Leave room for dessert. You will not be disappointed by anything on their menu.
This is a high quality restaurant with all the functions done very well. Expertly prepared dishes made with professional care. Our steaks and lamb were perfect and the side of brussel sprouts was delicious. Service was very polite and attentive. Oak is worth the price and is a great value. Recommended for special occasions and for treating out of town guests.
It did the job a upscale steakhouse is supposed to do. Good food, good service, decent ambience nothing more nothing less. Did not "wow" me but was not disappointed either and would go back.
We were first timers and so incredibly pleased with Oak Steakhouse. This is not the run of the mill, big name, over-priced steak house. Wonderfully fresh food, wonderful wait staff that flowed in and out without interruption to our conversation or our dining. Make sure you try the grilled octopus. It is divine! The 8oz filet was ample and cooked to perfection. Save room for some sides and don't pass on the jalapeño corn bread! The experience was awesome!
Joshua was our server and he was tremendous. I would highly recommend asking for him when you book your next visit to Oak.
Excellent service, cocktails, and the appetizers and dessert were exceptional. We will definitely be back.
Oak Steakhouse exceeds my expectations every time. Most recently I celebrated my birthday with them and they went above and beyond!! The food is excellent but the service is unmatched. They surprised us with Prosecco and then added a complementary side of truffle frites, which are to die for. And even though we were stuffed and couldn’t eat dessert they sent us home with a peach cobbler to enjoy later. We will definitely be back!!
Service and food was excellent. We both had the Bibb Salad, Bone-in Filet and shared the Crispy Potato side dish and were well pleased. The half Salad portion we ordered was more than sufficient. Was not crazy about the wine list . Markup on the wine seemed high even for a restaurant and there were few selections under $80. We definitely will return on future trips to Charlotte.
Excellent service (Josh was great) and the food was excellent. Prices are fair and on par with high-end steakhouses but the menu has multiple options at different price points that would satisfy many. Will definitely come back!
Water tastes terrible. 5 ounce filet was 4 strips that did not total 5 oz. more like 3. Compensated on plate by a mound of fries. Not good value.
Everything was Top Notch. Food and Service was Excellent.
Our server, Emily, did an outstanding job! The food was well-prepared and delicious.
The food was amazing. Our server was super nice and provided some great recommendations. Over the top experience!
Excellent in every way
All 6 of us agreed our food was outstanding. Some of the best in Charlotte. Three of us are very critical. The octopus appetizer was tender and perfectly seasoned. Shrimp cocktail was simple, yet delectable. Scallops appetizer were tender, juicy, buttery. The filet mignons, medium rare, were seasoned so you could enjoy the flavor of the excellent angus beef and not be overwhelmed by the seasonings. (They say that good facial makeup reveals beauty ... is not so heavily caked on that it conceals. So, too with spices, salt, and pepper.) It is the opinion of 2 people at the table that the filet was better than: Flemings, Capital Grille, BLT (very good, too), The Palm, Sullivan's. Might be a tie with Ruth's Chris.
Father's Day brunch was a hit! Fantastic menu options, attentive and timely service, and phenomenal meal overall!
Great staff, super accommodating for food allergies and great flavors. Awesome special occasion dinner.
The food was very good and the service was excellent. The interior is attractive, the lighting was good and the noise level was very good. The menu focuses on the steaks but there are other interesting options.
Everything was excellent. I have been to this restaurant several time and it is always a good experience. The only complaint I would have was the meat and cheese board appetizer. We have gotten before and it was always loaded with stuff but this time it has only two types of cheese and two pieces of each and the meats were not good like previous times. A meat and cheese board should have more types of cheese and we had three people in our party so there should of been enough for all of us. Other than that the experience was great and I would go back.
Awesome! Service was phenomenal and food was great.
Negatives: Given the local competition in steak houses, it would be expected that the steaks would be cooked perfectly. Unfortunately both my husband and I had to send our steaks back as the were very undercooked. My filet had fat, which defeated the purpose of ordering the filet. My husband’s bone-in KC Strip was tough. Both of us ordered our steaks medium and they came out rare. The crab cake add on was dry and salty.
Positives: the sides were delicious. We ordered the Brussels Sprouts, lobster Mac and cheese and the crispy potatoes. Could have made a meal out of the sides. The biggest positive was the service. Our server Meagen was fantastic.
Unfortunately since this is a steak house with steak house prices, there are much better options to choose from.
Will definitely come back; slick service and really good food. The steak was great and the Brussel sprouts side is one of the best side dishes I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
There is love of food that is shared by Oak Steakhouse. The lobster mac and cheese is the best that I've ever had. Love the Brussels sprouts and steak. Definitely need to try the lemon olive oil cake that a taste of summer comfort food. Oak steakhouse is where the South meets a steakhouse. Wonderful service with excellent recommendations.
We went for our 17th anniversary. Our dairy free request was honored. The food was delicious but the service was excellent. As we were leaving we were given the special touch of a small loaf cranberry cake. We've already recommended Oak Steakhouse to others !
Oak Charlotte is outstanding. Super friendly staff, outstanding steaks that are prepared perfectly, and prompt service. Bravo!
Just see Sharon at the bar. BEST dirty martini in Charlotte. Sam will guide you with steak/food selection.
First time visit for our 25th wedding anniversary. Super restaurant! Loved the food, loved the service (attention to detail), loved the music!
Ate at Oak Steakhouse after seeing it in SouthPark. Without question, i felt like we just found our favorite restaurant in all of Charlotte. The food is incredible!
Excellent service, lamb and ribeye were cooked perfectly! Salmon tartar was excellent, Brussels sprouts were a bit sweet for us, would suggest a second Brussels sprout alternative be offered. Honestly the meal was perfect!
First time visit and definitely will return!
Best steak in town! Better than Ruth's, Fleming's and all the others!
Steaks were fine, though they had a hard time getting the KC Strip to the right temp. Wine list needs more average price points, many were exorbitantly priced compared to what we can get elsewhere. Sides and salads were massive and ok, but not that special. Overall, not as special as we expected given the price point.
Water was horrid, possibly the ice. It had the taste of an old pipe. Salmon dish had far too much rice and swimming in puree. I am told the steaks were good. Thank you. If interested, we spent $349.
We were absolutely delighted to walk in and have such a personable waitress, Joanna, from our home town of Wilmington! Food was amazing and her recommendations were great!
