Oak Steakhouse - Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
We had a fantastic dinner - make sure to ask for Aaron as your server/waiter. Wine and drink recommendations were excellent. Dinner was excellent - I had the 16oz Ribeye and my wife had the petite Filet. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and several of the staff stopped by to wish her Happy Birthday! Overall, excellent!
Food was great. Service was awful - like employees talking on the phone instead of taking care of patrons awful. Took forever to get someone to take my order - or drink order. Would have loved another bloody mary but couldn't find anyone to ask.... and I was sitting at the bar. Once I finally did get someone to take my food order, food came out quickly. Unacceptable for the price and even worse since it was a slow day.
My husband and I dined at the Oak Steakhouse on New Year's Eve. We were greeted by smiling faces and a warm ambiance. The service was top notch and the atmosphere was vibrant as one would expect from a fine dining establishment. All those things were surpassed by the quality of food. My husband informed our server this was by far the best steak he has ever had. We will definitely come back and highly recommend the Oak Steakhouse to our family and friends.
We went to Oak Steakhouse for New Years Eve. We were blow away at the level of service, quality of food and incredible ambiance this restaurant offered. We are pretty picky foodies and this restaurant exceeded our expectations. Looking forward to returning soon!
We decided on Oak for our New Years dinner at the recommendation of friends and the restaurant's reputation as a fine steak house. The wine selection was above average and the steaks were premium, perfectly seasoned, and expertly cooked. The sides were prepared well, although the potatoes were too salty for our tastes. The service was excellent and overall a wonderful dining experience., though slightly over-priced.
My husband and I went on a date and were very excited to finally try this steakhouse as we've heard plenty of buzz about it. I think the buzz has gone to their head and they need to remember who the customer is or they won't be the "cool" restaurant in town for very long. We waited for more than 5 minutes at the hostess stand before anyone appeared to even greet us - so weird for a Saturday night. Next we were told that even though we had a reservation that they had no idea when our table would actually be ready. When our table was finally ready 25 minutes after our reservation we were taken to a semi-private dining room with two other 16 top parties already seated and having a great time. Excellent for them but not for a date night. When I expressed concern over this I was told we would have to wait who knows how long for a table. So back to the bar we went and after 45 minutes we were finally seated in a great booth for a date night. Our steak was quite delicious. However, the wines by the glass are very lacking. Also, they do not have any craft beer. Their IPA selection is poor and boring. Overall, think we'd spend this amount of $$$ elsewhere.
Presentation was terrible—8oz filet with a charred Roma tomato slice on large white plate—no sauces glazes, etc., plus steak was cold and had to be reheated. Also friend did not receive correct order. Will not be recommending the Oak Restaurant
Went for brunch on Christmas Eve ,
ask for a booth got a perfect booth facing a large tv so we got to watch the Panthers game which was perfect
We ordered steak and eggs
I ordered medium rare and got it
Their steak has an amazing Flavor
Also order French toast which we all split
I recommend that as an appetizer it was so rich with cream and berries wonderful and perfect before our steak and eggs
Yummy breakfast potatoes
Also we had three people making sure we had everything we needed , very friendly and personable wait staff
Made a reservation for 8:30, it was confirmed by a call from the restaurant. We weren't seated until almost 9:30. Received nothing more than a half hearted apology. Food was good but not what I expected after good word of mouth. There are better steak places in town.
Our dinner was amazing. We started off with the scallops, which were cooked to perfection. I had the lamb chops and my husband had the NY Strip. Both were cooked well and extremely tasty. Our side dishes were truffle fries and lobster mac n cheese; both were amazing and there was actually a good amount of lobster in the mac n cheese!
The only bad thing about our dinner was that the service was extremely slow. The waiter was nice, but we barely saw him. They took our entire order at once, so there really was no reason why our whole meal took 3 hours. We went on a Monday night, and there were not a lot of people there. We sat with empty plates in front of us for a good 45 minutes. There was no waiter at all who came by, so we couldn't even ask someone to get our waiter.
I don’t usually go to Steakhouses but chose this for a business dinner. The ambience was excellent as was the service. I ordered a bottle of wine with the meal and was directed to a less expensive bottle that we all enjoyed. The bone in filet was best steak I’ve had in years. Done med-rare it had great flavor and was slightly smokey. The sides; maple brussle sprouts, mashed potatoes and fried onions were equally delicious. My client took home what was left!
The ambience and service were outstanding. The wine list was extensive and covered a wide price range.
The quality of the beef was excellent and cooked properly. However the sides and the meat were warm not hot when they arrived at the table. My only disappointment of the evening was the lobster mac side. The pieces of Lobster meat were so small you could not taste them and the cheese was not flavorful. Average at best for this item
My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary here and couldn’t have asked for a better anniversary dinner. The front house and staff made us feel so welcome and special and took such great care of us. Our servers were Emily and Michael. They were extremely knowledge of the menu and helped suggest items that were, of course, delicious. This has become one of my favorite restaurants in Charlotte and I cannot wait to go back!
This is our 5th time to Oak. The first few were great. The 3rd was a bit off. The 4th was bad. This one was also bad or worse. This was a dead Sunday night dinner with a few people in the restaurant.
On this trip, the service was just off. We dine out a lot so we know you can have good/bad servers and a bad night, so it's more than that. We were never read the specials and ended up overhearing them from another server 45 minutes later. One of the specials was something we would have ordered - so that was a fail. The food went from great to just ok, and for a steakhouse, they will not compete with Del Frisco's - period. For the money you are charging for a steak - $50 - $80, it better come with an iPhone!
The steaks were blah and only "non-steakhouses" not know how to cook a steak medium-well without the need to butterfly it. I prefer Medium but the wife likes it a bit more done. The Palm, Del Frisco's, Capital Grill, Ruth's Chirs, Mickeys, have never asked nor needed to butterfly it.
The wine list, again, is overpriced. This is CLT not NYC or London or Hong Kong. If you are going to charge me 4 - 5 X on some bottles, they better be climate controlled at 56 degrees and decanted. Instead, it was room temperature and presented in tiny glasses. To reiterate, this is not snobbery its just your service and food needs to be congruent with your prices and the expectations you set. If you are going to pitch yourself as the best steakhouse in Charlotte, then you need to bring your A-game.
OAK has a lively bar scene (on other nights), good bartenders, a decent front of the house staff. The decor is lovely, and apps are great. They need to train staff better and think about lowering prices of wine to attract more regulars.
Are we going to try it again? Maybe. Indeed, another night like Sunday, and we will pass on future visits. It is not horrible yes, but at 2.5-3 stars, OAK has room to improve to get my business.
Convenience of another fantastic restaurant in South Park. Impressive restaurant with high ceilings and tasteful decor. Lots of privacy at tables for talking. Servers may need to be trained in wine service a bit better but they recovered very nicely from a small mis- step or two. Food was excellent. Lots of very interesting options for everyone in addition to the expected steaks which were as good if not better than the other big steak restaurant names in Charlotte. Maybe a bit pricey but no different than their competition and you get what you pay for. Came in with high hopes and expectations and they delivered.... highly recommend.
Was there for Thanksgiving fixed price meal. Consisted of all the rather traditional fare: mashed potatoes; stuffing; gravy; turkey; cranberry; grilled brussels sprouts. But now you have to imagine all of that made into a large mound in the middle of the plate. Rather strange - like they thought everyone was the type that mixed their peas with their mashed potatoes. In this case, they mixed everything. Frankly expensive for what it is, although I did not try any of the $50 steaks. Great service, however.
