It was only a few short years ago that this neighbourhood was farmland as far as the eye could see. Now fortified with a bustling community, Walnut Grove is the epitome of the word community. The Joseph Richard Group is proud to have established Oak & Thorne in 2015 to offer the locals a gathering place to celebrate and call their own. Now, since we’ve moved into our digs across the street we have an adult playground complete with games, events and more space to host our community, the new Oak & Thorne has more balls than ever! We’ve got bocce, ping pong, foosball and skeet ball.

Loved the service - Paul was an excellent server. Food was great. We would go back.

Ranking this low as we booked on open table a reservation for a Saturday dinner. When we arrived there was no table for us and the manager on shift apologized that they had not looked at their reservations for the evening and therefore had no space. Would not recommending booking a table as we drive out from another community and were thoroughly disappointed.

You don’t need a reservation here. Went for brunch with friends, walked in and were told to “find a seat”. Headed to the upper level and where we sat was filthy. There were multiple tables filled with dirty dishes, food on the floor and our booth was sticky from the seats to the table. A couple of us ordered omelettes that were the size of my palm and over cooked, $16 not worth it. The avocado toast was an avocado cut In half on toast with mealy tomatoes and hard poached eggs. A side order of Hollandaise, which came in a tiny metal ketchup cup, was $4. The waitress was super busy and the place seemed understaffed. Definitely would not recommend or come back.

It is very loud and not what I was expecting. Now i know. We had a couple sandwhichs and both were lacking in flavour and ingredients. I wouldn't order them again

The restaurant did not have our reservation but we were still able to get a table. The food and service was great. It was a Saturday night and turned into a dance club with a young crowd after the hockey game.

We made reservations, but when we arrived we had to find an empty table as we were told just to find something.
there were no clean tables. had to ask a server to clean one for us.
The server was great.
The food was ok; nothing special.

The food wasn’t anything special. I Had a cheese burger and it was meh. Our server on the other hand was AMAZING. She was bubbly and friendly. She always came back to check up on us. It was loud but it was also a fight night so I was to be expected. I will for sure go back again !

I booked a reservation at Oak & Thorne for a girls night out. The service over the phone was super friendly and efficient. They accommodated me when I had to call the day of and add 3 extra seats to my table and I was very appreciative.

Our server was also great. She had a fun and lively sense of humor and made great food recommendations. She was quick, kept on top of clearing our dishes and refilling our drinks, and friendly.

There was a mix up with our food order and another tables. We ended up waiting for an hour and a half for our food. Nobody was upset because a lot of us have worked in the food service industry before, but we had new moms in our group who had no intention of staying late and were delayed an hour in getting home. We were compensated with free meals and a round of shots for the table which surprised us and made up for the delay, but it was disappointing that all our food arrived sporadically. The last fish probably came out a full 10-15 minutes after the first.

The restaurant itself isn't very inviting. It felt cold. The women's washroom was yucky. Overall it was a bit of a let down. We had planned to stay late into the evening to dance, but nobody wanted to stay longer than necessary so we cleared out hours before we intended to.

Seemed odd to make a reservation through Open Table, but to be told to seat ourselves upon arriving. Very cold due to air conditioning. Server was friendly and attentive. Food was quite nice for casual dining. Overall ambiance though was not appealing and not likely to return.

Ordered Mac and cheese bites for an appy. They tasted like deep fried boiled noodles. There was no cheese with the Mac.
Ordered a featured cocktail called The Derby, my friends ordered the same and the drinks tasted only like simple syrup. We complained to the server and she brought us a shot of bourbon to add to the drinks. Adding the shot helped but still did not taste right.
One of our group ordered the steak and he said it was not good.
The Cajun sandwiches tasted good as well as the fries.
It took 30 minutes to get our bill, this was at 9:30. It was busy but not busy enough to not get the bill when requested.
Crispy chicken burger tasted bland.
Overall, we will not return to this establishment. We made a reservation and hoped for much better quality.
