O-Ku - Raleigh
Thursday - Saturday: 5:00pm - 11:00pm
Sunday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm
Sushi rolls are hit or miss — especially for the price. Service can be disorganized but staff is friendly and accommodating! The ambiance is fun and would be great for dates and/or grabbing drinks. Very cool vibe, decor and atmosphere, but not the best sushi in Raleigh.
Our first visit. Ambiance and food were all excellent! Fairly pricey on some items. We had the salmon appetizer that was recommended to us by several on the waitstaff. It was 5 extremely tiny pieces of salmon for $16. They were delicious but may not be worthy of the price or enough to share (about the size of an almond each). Next time we will get the rock shrimp appetizer that was also recommended. Otherwise our sushi was amazing and original! The green salad was huge and enough for 2. Will definitely go back to try new things!
My first experience at O-Ku was wonderful! We were there for a birthday celebration and felt very well taken care of by the staff. They were all (and there were multiple servicing our table) very genuine with us and with each other, allowing for a very breezy dinner and the vibe that this is one new, happy, and energized restaurant. The food is delicious and the cocktails well-crafted and not like many other offerings in downtown Raleigh. We will surely return!
Really enjoyed our food, and our server was very attentive. They brought out extra edamame when our order was delayed and also did a nice dessert for my friend's birthday. Some of the items were really unique and others I found to be just okay. For the price, I expect wow a little more. I would definitely go back though as much of the food is worth returning for.
Very nice addition to the Downtown Raleigh area. Beautifully decorated, quality food and good service. Their menu is fairly extensive, and there are items to suit everyone's taste. Highly recommend!
The best sushi in Raleigh - hands down, if you have the money and know what you want. If you are looking for some cheap sushi on a budget this is not one of those spots. If you are looking for BOGO California rolls go to one of those spots on Glenwood South.
This place has the best high-end O'toro, Uni and wagyu you can get. They also have their own chef version with caviar and truffle. The Yakitori is the best chicken I've had in my life and the Hamachi Kama had me scraping the bones to get one last little tiny piece of that fish it was that good and nuanced.
If you ever wanted to go to Nobu just come here first, it is in your backyard and in terms of high end sushi it satisfies just the same.
I went to O-Kun with a girlfriend of mine and we had a blast! The food, drinks and service were perfection.
The restaurant is gorgeous and well decorated. The wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, they can offer recommendations on items. Food was very good and menu had a wide variety of offerings. The desserts were also delicious - especially the mini donuts. I would definitely go back!
Freshest fish in town with a chic upscale ambiance. Great for a date night, or a small birthday get together to grab a drink. The food is gourmet $$$
Given that this place is new, they haven’t worked out all of their kinks yet. They’re currently offering half priced sushi on fridays from 5-7, meaning they are pretty busy at this time and therefore the sushi is basically premade. Our sushi came out in 4 minutes, and did not seem fresh at all, especially given the $15-$18 price point per roll. Thank goodness we got it half off. Otherwise might have sent it back
The service is very friendly and attentive, and the ambiance is great. Give this place a few months for the hype to die down, and I think you’ll find an improvement in the quality of the food.
Awesome dinner! I loved our experience at O-Ku! The waiter was knowledgeable of the menu, the cocktails suggested were amazing and the sushi was delectable! Can’t wait to go back soon!
Sushi was good but overpriced. Would not recommend yakitori, it was warm and tastes ok. Shaved ice came out with chunk of ice. Needs to understand how to make this correctly before putting on menu.
Environment was very nice as service was good as well.
Beautiful decor, and nice ambiance. The food was tasty, but it was difficult to find vegan options. The waiter was nice enough to bring us a special "free roll" as a gift, but it took a long time (we were otherwise ready to leave), and when it did come it was red meat on a stick. We don't eat red meat, so unfortunately we had to send it back. They brought us mocci ice cream instead, which was kind and unnecessary. That said, I do feel that wait staff should ask restaurant go-ers if they have any dietary restrictions before giving away free food. Especially at a sushi restaurant. There are a lot of food sensitivities out there, and being on the forefront of nourishing people should include being aware of the effects of different types of foods.
Not a place for a quite meal. I left horse having screamed essentially the entire meal to be heard. That aside everything else was great. Awesome food, nice personal touches for special event or celebration. You could tell they really cared and went out of their way to give you a good dining experience. Such a rare thing these days.
O-Ku was amazing! We went for our 2nd anniversary and our waitress (Tonya) made us feel so special the entire evening. The food was creative, fresh, and tasty. I would definitely recommend O-Ku for a night out.
Food is very unique for Raleigh and our waiter was fantastic. Noise level was nearly unbearable. Many loud tables around us were apparently shouting to be heard over the bass-heavy “background” music.
But I would still return.
Wow, we came here for my son's birthday and I cannot tell you how happy we were with everything!! The service was absolutely amazing, the food was fantastic and what a great happy hour!!!!!! They were so sweet for my son's birthday as well, we cannot wait to go back!
Our waiter was absolutely great. Very knowledgeable and attentive. Made my birthday celebration here a great experience. The food was amazing.
Great!! Wish we had Jacob but Nicky was great
The service was wonderful and the restaurant was so accommodating. Perfect place to celebrate a birthday or any occasion! Easy 5 stars on all levels
Waiter was great and had spot on recommendations. The hanger steak was perfect done and the Black Magic was truly magical. Save room for the donuts for dessert - heaven in your mouth. Great dinner!
Overall the food was good, but nothing truly stood out. We were disappointed in the cost compared to portions. I’m happy to pay more for quality food, but felt this place is missing the mark.
We were blown away! It was a dining experience that we had not had in a long time. The food was fresh and unique. Two of our favorite dishes were the uni udon hot dish and the black magic hakozushi. Our server, Tanya, was so incredibly knowledgeable- especially considering they have only been open two weeks. She was not only knowledgeable but engaging, friendly.. just overall pleasant. What an awesome addition to Raleigh. We can't wait to go back.. and we can't wait to try their sister restaurant coming in next door.
Recently visited with my grandson. Seats at the sushi bar were special! Informative, delightful chats with the chef made our night, as did the very knowledgeable waiter, Jamie. Definitely returning.
Omakase was a great value, and I had a nice time sitting at the bar and interacting with the chef who was making it. I've described fish as "like butter" before, but upon tasting the nigiri here, I realized I hadn't known buttery fish before. The uni cream sauce udon was the most beautiful use of uni I've ever seen -- not overpowering as it so often can be. Service was delightfully friendly, especially as I was dining alone. Overall a wonderful experience and I will definitely be back to order from the regular menu.
Everything was amazing. Thank you for an awesome dinner.
A beautiful place with delicious food and exceptionally friendly staff. Recommend everything especially hanger steak, surf and turf (pic), and oooh toro. Looking forward to next visit.
Great food and very friendly staff. The uni udon was delicious.
My dining experience was amazing! Our server Jamie was very attentive and educated us on menu items we were unfamiliar with. Our cocktails were big crowd pleasers! Members of management were very professional and stopped by to make sure all of our needs were being met
The fish was excellent. Very fresh. Portions are in the small side but very well prepared.
Absolutely blown away by everything we had at O-Ku. The chef is truly talented and we will be back again and again. The sugar and spice cocktail was delicious and every.single.thing. we ordered off the menu was incredible. Not to mention the beautiful, cozy atmosphere!
Amazing addition to the Warehouse District and Raleigh food scene. Hats off to Dina for impeccable attention and friendliness. Unique flavor profiles (the food was awesome) and although I do not ordinarily order desserts I was convinced to do so. Glad I did. Welcome to the neighborhood.
Extremely enjoyable experience and it has only been open a week.
Great experience overall! After being a frequent diner at the location in Charleston, I was excited it's a new addition to the Raleigh food scene. The portions are much smaller than the Charleston location, so be prepared. 6 rolls for $15 makes dinner more of a "snack"
Congratulations on your opening night! The flow of the meal, food, and service were spot on. Our server Tanya was great!
Great addition to Raleigh. Be sure not to price the experience over the market.
We will be back next week.
It was opening night, so no surprise that there were a few hiccups. Flavors were very good. Portions were a bit small for the price. Server was very helpful and friendly, if still learning the menu. My only real complaint is that I was served a warm beer.
Fantastic! Food, service, and atmosphere was great! Can’t wait to come back!
Wonderful food! Ambience is great for a nice dinner out or a date or celebration. Took the server recommendations and was so pleased.
A little pricy, the decore wasn’t particularly unique or impressive, and the server was a little pushy with the upselling, but the hostess was super friendly and food was tasty. Overall a nice spot for a date night, but doesn’t have a wow factor.
