Me and my fiancé went here for a special date the first time, for an omakase. We didn’t think the omakase would be filling, but we were wrong. They came out with delicious dishes with select, premium fish/meat cuts. They were all tasty and savory, with a sweet gelato dessert at the end. It was a heaping amount that I couldn’t finish. The dishes had moderate amounts of food which we thought in our opinion, was worth our bill. We’ve been to other omakases and Ok-u is so far, the best in D.C. or VA, itself. The 2nd time around, him and I went for a special anniversary. We ordered the sushi rolls, which were phenomenal. We really enjoyed the Surf & Turf Roll and the Crunchy Prawn Roll. Everything, including the ambience of the restaurant was warming. Thank you to Ok-u team for giving us a card that had nice, lovely handwritten notes! Him and I appreciate it!

Excellent food and drinks BUT I cannot say the same about the service. Because of the below. 1- We ordered 4 drinks before we placed the order for the appetizers but unfortunately the drinks took way too long therefore the waitress bring the drinks after we finished with the appetizers. 2- At the end of the main meal we ordered a second drink for one of us but unfortunately that drink never came. Our waitress totally forgot about it. 3- While we were ordering the desserts suddenly the waitress left us and I had to asked to come back to the table so we can finalize the order. 4- When they bring the desserts to the table on of the waitress by accident spilled one of the desserts over the table. Besides the food is very good the service was terrible. I wouldn't recommend this place and of course we are not going to come back.

I’ve been here a few times now and sat in every area from downstairs bar to rooftop. Everywhere you get amazing service. Everywhere. The food is unfailingly excellent (though wish they’d say when it’s breaded), cocktails sublime and wine list broad and interesting. The noise level is fine until they turn the music up! No idea why it needs to be that loud. But otherwise this is one of my 2 fav places in town right now

Our waitress was not the warmest, she was quite dry the entire night. I don’t know if she was tired or just wasn’t a nice person. Also the service was extremely slow. We were seated for at least 15 minutes before we received water. We were also seated right underneath a vent and the air conditioner was blasting (the temp was below 40 degrees outside by the way). We mentioned this to our waitress and she said that she’d have her manager turn it off. It was turned off for maybe 10 minutes. Then it was cut right back on and blasting the rest of the night. All of us were quite uncomfortable because of it. I will not be returning.

We had to wait 10mins to be seated, even though we'd had a reservation. Not a big deal though! Once we were seated, our server came and asked if it was our first time at O-Ku. He was very pushy and tried to get us to order right away even though we had just sat down. My husband ordered a drink, and the server walked away without asking if I'd like anything. Everything went downhill from there. Overpriced, under-served, and ignored for the majority of the night

We had a great time with Sarah and loved the food. It was a great value and delicious. There were so many great options BUT don't forget to save room for dessert. I can't remember the name but the donut hole balls are so amazing and the chocolate lava style cake was delicious.

Everything was delicious. The waiter handled our questions and was very accommodating when we shared a personal experience with him. My fiancé and I went to Oku hours after getting engaged last year and, coincidentally, we were sat at the same table we ate at when we were engaged. He brought us a small dessert to commemorate the occasion. Aside from the food being absolutely delicious and reasonably priced, the service definitely elevated our experience. Oku has and will continue to be one of our favorite restaurants in DC.
