Only restaurant we have been to in Houston area that truly taste like the food does in Italy.
Visiting from out of town. Great food!
Overall, the service was very, very slow. We went for dinner on Saturday. There were 3 in our party and we had a reservation. First of all there was no one at the reception to greet us when we arrived and there were people already waiting before us and many more after us. It was 5 minutes before someone showed. At the table, service was awfully slow. For the salads, the waiter would say it will be out in a minute and we would wait 10 minutes. For the entree, the waiter said 10 minutes and it took 20 minutes. Obviously, they were busy and there was a shortage of staff. No manager stopped by to apologize. I would not recommend it.
Very good food but deplorable service. Inattentive waiter, did not come by once through the whole meal to see if things were OK or if we needed anything. Had to get up and walk over to another waiter to get water refilled at our table. Had to get up and walk over to the manager to ask that our check be delivered to the table. Not going back, as there are other Italian options with like quality food and much better service.
Not worth the price and did not like the food at all specially for Valentine’s Day. The people was nice and service was good.
Very disappointed with our experience at Nundini’s. We arrived for Valentine’s Day dinner and were seated very close to the door. We sat for a very long time without a server coming to let us know they’d be with us, or providing even water. Eventually we just got up and walked out. The hostess did not even take notice or come to see what was the matter. Will not be dining here again and would not recommend.
We would but we have to try it on a regular day with the full menu. We went on Valentine's Day for reservations at 7:30PM and for some reason, it took a long time for the food to come out and it was warm to cold but we didn't want to bring it up since it was very busy and the cooks had a hard time keeping up. We finished our bottle of wine way before the food came out. By the time we were done eating and paid, it was past 10PM.
The service was especially great which made the experience even better
Food, atmosphere, staff, all top notch! This place is special, and I’d recommend it to anyone that wants to experience Italian food without the expense of traveling to Italy! The wine selection is unbelievable, from every region within Italy. And if your not sure of what to pair with your meal, the staff will not disappoint you!
Highly recommend you try Nundini’s Chef Table, and experience it for yourself!
The host is not friendly. I made reservations and was there on time but my husband was 5 minutes behind me and she refused to sit me at a table and told me to just go to the bar. Then when my husband got there she sat us on the side of the hallway and when we asked to be seated in the main area where everyone was and there were 8 tables available she refused. Almost like we were punished for my husband being late 5 minutes in Houston traffic. This place is classy and she looks like a punk star with blue hair. She should be made to dress Classy and her appearance should be classy. She would fit working like in a diner or cafeteria not your place. Just a thought. The food was excellent and the waiter was very nice. But if someone ask to be seated where there are 8 tables available their request should be granted. You want to make sure to keep your customers happy if you wand them to come back.
Thought we were eating in a deli. Had a reservation waitress wanted to seat us by the deli refrigerators. When I objected we were moved to a table with a nice red table cloth. It was Valentine’s Day. The hostess then removed the table cloth explaining they didn’t have enough for dinner time. This is a pretty low rent operation. Won’t go back. Lots of places with good Italian food and a better dining experience.
We had a great experience for a girls’ night out. Chef Timothy created a great appetizer combination and the pastas were great but,for me, it was the best tuna I’ve ever had. Loved the later happy hour (ends at 8 not 7).
We went to Nundini for my husband's birthday. Our waiter was very attentive and the food was delicious. We highly recommend going there for authentic Italian food.
Nundini is one of my favorite Italian restaurant in Houston. There are a lot incredible dishes in the menu: insalata di polipo and fritto misto di pesce e verdure, spaghetti allo scoglio, tagliata alla fiorentina are outstanding. Highly recommended also Tiramisu and Cannoli . The wine list is wide and allows you to choose great italian wine from all the regions. Kids menu is available.
It was nice! We enjoyed a salad and a pizza which were well prepared with hot fresh ingredients. Good dough! A little chewy nice amount of toppings. Wines by the glass were a bargain. Very decent 8-11$ for a nice pour. There weren't many people but it was around 1-- past lunch. Lovely wine selection curated by regional designation. All Italian. Only disappointment was tiramisu which seemed old. Coffee was decent. We will try dinner next time. Easy access too off 10 and shepherd. Cheers!
Despite having a reservation, we were seated in the middle of a doorway. When I asked the hostess if we could be seated at one of the tables in a corner she said no, the tables were needed for walk ins (just a note here, no one was seated at either of the tables while we were there and they had many empty tables available). We chose this restaurant because it was listed as a quiet place for conversation and our guest is a little hard of hearing however, being seated in a doorway where every person who comes and goes to the kitchen walks past you is not ideal for conversation.
Our server seemed a little scattered and we had to ask for my husbands drink twice. When we finally were able to order, our salads came out quickly but our meal took a very long time. I later understood why when I noticed our server in the kitchen trying to prepare our meal - maybe the chef was absent that night? My meal was decent but my husbands was terrible (his words). Upon serving our meals, to our servers credit, the service improved. The service issue was particularly hard to understand as there were a few employees just standing around chatting.
Having read the reviews before making the reservation, I can't help but wonder what happened. When paying a bill of about $50 a person, I expect better than bad seating, bad service and mediocre food.
I love this jewel. The food is always great and best of all...it is peaceful and you can actually talk to the people across the table from you.
Great Food. Great Wine. Great Service. Is a hidden gem.
They would not accommodate a pregnant women by making pasta with olive oil so i left.
Terrible service. Waited at the bar for 10 minutes to bartender to show up. Waited 15 minutes after seated before we had to flag down a server. Slow after that.
Worst experience of any
Restaurant visited on Open Table
Table was next to kitchen and got served cold pizza
Wait service non existence (took order and never came back)
Waited for special request salad that was served after the meal as a desert by asking for it to a random server.
Stood up and waved to get our check so we could leave.
Disappointed for a birthday dinner spent most of the time waiting.
Great for our anniversary! Chef mingled with some of the patrons. Waiter was so attentive and considerate. Chose it on a whim for our anniversary and couldn’t have been happier. Pricing felt more than fair. Will be back
We eat at Nundini's fairly regularly because the food is consistently excellent and the wines are priced very well. The service on this particular visit was adequate but a little disjointed. Setting in a commercial wharehouse complex is comfortable but a bit strange. Come for the food and enjoy the wine.
I asked a friend for a recommendation to a moderately priced Italian restaurant. He said this was one of their favorites. The restaurant is in an old warehouse with a small Italian store, including cheeses and gelato. The tables are spread out. Chef came from the kitchen to help us with ordering. The pastas are homemade and the sauces not overpowering. Wines are reasonably priced. Enjoyed the place and we will be back.
Nice atmosphere, great service. Pizza was great but the seafood risotto was disappointing, the calamari and clams were over cooked and tough. Will probably try it again.
Meal was delicious and prepared by Timothy, the head chef, who was engaging and has a way of making you feel like your meal is the most important to him. The 4 of us loved the entire evening.
I've been several times, and this time was not quite as good as the past. We were seated initially right next to the kitchen where it was very hot. Thankfully, we were able to move. Had we not been able to move, we would have gone to another restaurant. Service was a bit slow, and it took quite a while to get assistance with the wine selection.
The food was good.
It was a great congratulations date for my significant other’s new job! Food was great and our waitress was helpful and quick.
Wonderful service and DELICIOUS food!! The wine list is remarkable. Definitely coming back!!!
One of the most enjoyable dining experiences I have ever had.
I was there on a date. Chef Timothy Ogden approached our table and introduced himself. He asked what appetizer we would like. I replied that I was there on an date and would love the the chef to use his prerogative and provide us a meal so that we could focus on each other.
What followed next was a 4 course trip through a fabulous tour of Italian cuisine.
I can’t recommend this restaurant enough!!!
The wait for the meal was longer than expected. There were background tv’s on like a sports bar (not expected at an Italian restaurant). The waiter although pleasant seemed hurried and over extended with tables. The hostess disappeared after we arrived at 7pm and the wait staff had to pull extra duty to seat guests.
Everything was great with the food & ambiance, but the service was unbelievably slow and our waiter was not attentive at all. Not sure if we would ever go back, but maybe will do take out.
Service was awful. Asked our waiter the price of a special and he said “I don’t know.” Didn’t even find out. Food is just meh. I have been there 3 times now due to its convenience but I won’t go back. Each time I go, I leave frustrated and disappointed.
It took over an hour and a half to get our main dish from the time we placed the order. The owner and other staff just sat relaxing in the restaurant. Very short staffed.
As always, they did not disappoint. Danielle always recommends a perfect wine to accompany our meal choices. Service is always attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The wide variety of quality, authentic options on the menu always guarantee that everyone will get just what they want. Tim and the rest of the kitchen team did an outstanding job on the Tomahawk steak, the pastas, the fritto misto and everything else this past weekend.
On Friday's service was exceptionally poor waited 1hr 30 mins for our food and all was not served at the same time.
First time!!! Definitely will be back!!! Great food and wine list is fabulous!!!
It was only ok, the price wasn't worth the quality. They close at 10:00 on a Saturday night so we felt rushed. If you are spending that kind of money on drinks, appetizer, entree, dessert, wine etc.... you want to be able to stay and enjoy the evening with friends. They were out of several things we asked for. Wanted to look through the market before our friends arrived but was rushed to get to our table even though it wasn't crowded and we had a reservation. Probably won't go back, there are too many other options around town. Server was very kind, newly in the states and we enjoyed visiting with her very much.
Overall best dining experience I have ever had. Chef Timothy came tableside and talked us through dishes and is extremely passionate and entertaining. A great representative of the Houston food scene.
