   We were here on a recent cold night, thinking it would be a warm and cheerful retreat -- like the former Mo's Diner. However, we were very disappointed. There were no other people in the restaurant, and the old house gave off a tired and sad vibe. We had pasta, which was fine, but we were disappointed in the sparse wine list and beer selection. The service was very slow, and they were out of several items on the menu. We feel sad because we want them to succeed, but it will take a lot to infuse some cheer into this depressing place. We will not be back.

   We showed up for a 9pm reservation and we're not seated until 9:45. After looking over the menu we had to ask the waitress if there was anything sparkling to drink- she said no. (It was NYE). We choose a beer- they were out of it. They only had 2 beers left! Then she left to get the beer we ordered (of the 2 options they had). She never came back- we had to go find her to ask to order our meal. Turns out they were out of chicken and we couldn't even order what we wanted. The waitress basically told us we should try to come back on a less busy night- what the heck. We made reservations to be here and she basically kicked us out bc they were out of everything. We will not go back and I recommend you don't go either.

   In an old house near Moore Square, Notte Urbana is a great addition to the Raleigh Restaurant Scene. Well prepared Italian food served up very well. Grilled romaine appetizer and salmon with lentils and tomatoes for me and hearts of palm salad with papardelle bolognese for my wife. Good sized portions, very tasty. Highly recommended. Laid back, comfortable ambience.

   We arrive for our first visit and we find a quaint little old home off Moore Square- looks really cute from the outside. We walk in, the hostess had a strange personality - really didn't say anything to us until we told her we had a reservation. The inside of the restaurant looks like an undecorated old home. Torn roller blinds, no pictures hung - sort of a cold feeling about the place. The beer and wine list was really small - nothing interesting. So we order food - started with an eggplant app - it was under cooked and the eggplant was chewy. Ordered two mains - I had a chicken marsala - while not a traditional marsala it was good. My wife ordered a rigatoni Bolognese and it was over spiced with cumin which was not a good fit. We won't be back - too much to fix.

   We will be back! We could not wait to try this new restaurant in downtown Raleigh, and we are so glad that we did. Every dish was amazing, and we cannot wait to go back and try more.
