I am a bit disappointed with this visit. I looked forward to the new summer menu. I ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Definitely not Southern. The biscuits they have for this menu--HARD as a Hockey Puck. mentioned to the manager and she gave us a free desert. I got the carrot cake to go. Had it the next night and found a piece of glass in it. Called the restaurant to let the manager know. She was busy so I spoke to the hostess who said she would have the manager call me back- She NEVER called. May have to rethink about going back.

We go to NYAJ's frequently. We always have a good meal, good service, & it's reasonably priced!

In all the years dining at this location, for the first time, we were very disappointed. The service was not as usual. The food quality left a lot to be desired. The waiter at times is appeared for a significant amount of time. We hope that this experience was an anomaly that we will not encounter in the future.

Once again NYA Joes pleases. We went on a Saturday night, but had no wait after making a reservation with open table. I like to try to order from the specials, which change every month or so. I love how they are so accommodating with substitutions. If you don't like the side that comes with it, just change it. I got the flank steak, and my mother got the ribs. Both were excellent.

Second visit in 2 weeks as the first visit was great; service extraordinary, food cooked to perfection, and very tasty. This time service was slow-it seemed to take forever to get our order, and my basic hamburger, ordered medium, came out with a thick crust and was well done. Didn't say anything as we had spent far too much time already.

We have gone to Not Your Average Joe's in Beverly a lot over the last 6 years. While still having its nice diverse menu and nice bread and olive oil free appetizer, it seemed a little tired this time - not as clean as usual, the staff not quite as perky. Hope this is only temporary for what has long been an area reliable.

This place used to be our go-to restaurant but the portions keep getting smaller and the prices higher. My dinner was $19.99 and I literally got 6 very small pieces of what they said was flank (which it WASN'T, my dad was a meat-cutter, I know the difference in texture and taste -- it definitely was hanger), but you can go to many competitive restaurants get three times the steak for much less. They are definitely getting cheap with their proteins. Server also seemed over being there. I get that it's 8:30 on a Saturday night, but you know, PRETEND
