The glazed short rib cavatelli was the best pasta I have ever had in my entire life! The staff were very kind and helpful, and coped admirably with a busy dinner rush on a Saturday night!
We came for brunch and had a delicious meal. It was nice to come early in the day when the noise level was much lower and there weren’t too many other tables inside. I had the burrata anolini and it was DELICIOUS. So good that I could have had seconds. This remains one of my favorite Italian restaurants!
Overall we enjoyed North Italia. We were seated promptly for our reservation, our server was pleasant and attentive, our appetizers were mostly delicious though we did order garlic bread that was overdone. Our entrees came out a little too promptly arriving while we were still eating our appetizers and enjoying our first round of drinks but they were delicious. The major issue with the restaurant was noise level which was off the charts loud really detracting from the dining experience. If you have no problem with struggling to hear your server or dinner companions you’ll love it.
Calamari and grilled bread were delicious…loved all the entrées…chicken parmigiana, bolognese and the squid ink pasta!
Always great food and friendly service.
Ate on the outdoor patio, which was quite nice. Service was prompt. Food was served quickly and presented nicely. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. Priced a little high, but it is a nice addition to the Foggy Bottom neighborhood.
Servic was great. Food was delicious.
Nice-looking place, but the service was very slow. I felt as though the wait staff was not very attentive in general, and the food was just ok.
This restaurant is my favorite in the West End of D.C., where I live. The food is well chosen and prepared to mimic the best in Tuscan couisine with remarkable flavors and an excellent eye for cooking, but not overcooking the meal. From salads to pizzas to mains, quality is a focal point and the servings are more than adequate for sharing. The prices are most reasonable for D.C. Inside dining is spacious and airy; outside is smaller but acceptable, especially on the weekends when there is less vehicular traffic on Pennsylvania Avenue. There are heaters for the sidewalk that work well when there is not a strong breeze to disburse the warm air that they generate.
Excellent food and nicely served. Music somewhat loud
Food was fantastic.
Out server was fast and efficient. I had reservations for 5pm on Friday and was in and out in an hour. Perfect for more time to walk around before the Kennedy Center performance. The food was Amazing!! The ingredients were fresh and delicious. This isn't a fancy Italian restaurant where you need to hold your pinky up. It's more modern/contemporary. Funny atmosphere. At 6pm the music came on and I was expecting an Olive Garden feel, but no Frank Sinatra. We'll definitely be back.
Happy Hour menu is a STEAL. - we got the board + bottle and a pizza for $20 per person.
Great atmosphere with outstanding service. Roasted half chicken was excellent..
Amazing food and service
Very nice staff, very good pizza! Super energetic and fun in there. Probably not the best for a quieter intimate conversation but love it!
My trans partner and I were celebrating our anniversary and the service wasn’t only horribly slow but ridiculous subpar. Seriously the food runners throes my food on the table and ran away before we could ask for a plates. Ended up taking our entrees to go just because it was that unenjoyable. We won’t be back.
Food was excellent especially the Bolognese. Server was attentive.
Great place to go for a delicious lunch/dinner with friends and collegues.
Great food and great service. Would highly recommend.
went for my birthday and I got a free dessert! it was the perfect way to end my 21st birthday. I'm also gluten intolerant and I chose this restaurant specifically for the gluten free options, I got the gf pizza AND the gf pasta and I can't remember the last time I had gluten free food made for me that was that good. I also like that everything was made fresh and you can really tell!
The ambiance is beautiful. The food also comes out in a timely manner. The servers were pretty polite and I believe my server actually spoke Italian so that was nice to hear . The bolognese was really good I enjoyed it through and through . I would definitely come again maybe around dinner time .
Emily was very gracious and welcoming as the hostess.
Ali had excellent suggestions on the STROZZAPRETI for me and the MAFALDINE for my buddy. Both were excellent. Not being a big fan of pine nuts, I asked Ali to ask the chef to leave out the pine nuts.
My buddy loved his mafaldine, which I'd ordered the previous week.
I'll definitely be back.
The food was delicious. I have a gluten allergy and our waitress was able to walk me through the menu and modifications they could make to appetizers/entrees. The drinks were also delicious and they had multiple gluten free desserts. Would definitely come here again when I’m in the DC area. The Cacio e pepe pizza was amazing!
Excellent food, wow! And dietary need sensitive! Really loved our time here, will definitely be returning!
When I arrived I felt I was treated like an afterthought because I was eating alone and am on the younger side (mid 20’s) the other older customers were treated much better and actually felt welcome whereas I did not. The food itself (I had the strozzapreti) lacked flavor and was much too expensive for the quality. And the Italian spritz was watery and flavorless.
Squid ink pasta and kale salad were great!
Always an amazing experience
Very nice ambience and food! Great service as well
Emily was charming and welcoming as the hostess. Simon was a great waiter, offering good suggestions, bringing our food in a timely manner, then allowing my guest and me to catch up.
My guest had the Tuscan kale salad, which he greatly enjoyed. I had the squid ink mafaldine, which was great.
Even the cappuccinos were great.
Will be going back next week with another friend.
Visited DC on a work trip and ended up dining here for dinner 3 out of the 5 nights of our stay. Great
North Italia is an excellent restaurant and a great choice if you are looking for affordable, delicious Italian food. The pizzas were perfectly sized for one person and were light and airy and not too filling. The staff was attentive and the ambiance was so cute. Everything about this restaurant exceeded my expectations. My husband and I are from out of town and were only in DC for a few nights. We are so happy we chose this restaurant as one of our meals.
Appetizers and a salads are outstanding not only ingredients and flavors, but they come out fast.
As for entrees, the labor shortage has really had an effect on staffing, service, presentation and over done sauces…. Too rich and heavy.
So go for the atmosphere and apps
Not happy that it is not possible to make reservations for outdoor seating. It's on a first come first served basis. This defies logic in the age of pandemic. We will not be returning.
Good food and good service! We had chicken pesto and squid ink mafaldine which is very delicious. Tiramisu is a must! Our server Sarah was very nice and accommodating. Just a perfect day with our mom.
Wonderful staff, great tasting food and fast service
The service was amazing. Prince did a great job recommending great choices on the menu.
A nice restaurant that has a relaxed vibe and great Italian food, my recommendation is to not skip the dessert, the Tiramisu is the best I've had in the US.
