North Italia - Austin 2nd Street
Excellent pasta! Would have liked some plain old Italian bread to go with it, but they only had grilled bread as a purchase option and that was not terrific.
I have been to this location a few times so it was a top pick for my mom's birthday. We were disappointed that the food came out almost room temperature for a few of the party, including my mom's, but it was still tasty.
The other odd issue was that the servers seemed frantic and we kept having the hostess staff walk by eyeing the table with a tablet in hand as if they were gauging when we would be done. It seemed intrusive and made everyone uneasy as if they were rushing us through our meal. Overall everyone enjoyed the food, but it was not as relaxing and enjoyable as it could have been.
Had a good lunch with my son. The food was a bit pricy and portions a bit light but a good vibe and atmosphere.
Went for dinner on a busy Friday night and thought food was just average. Pizza was a little soggy and my daughter's pasta was just average. Ridiculous that you don't automatically get bread either at the table.
Love the food and sitting outside! Great healthy choices!
Only complaint is that it was too hot in the space.
I had the pig pizza it was so soggy in the middle all the toppings fell off. For 14 I deserve a good pizza especially if it's the size of a small pizza. Wtf what a RIP off
Service was slow and server was not attentive. Food was good.
Cam was our server and made several fantastic recommendations. He really went above and beyond to make our experience great. Wonderful food, we can’t wait to come back.
Very good service and good appetizers but was very disappointed with the pizza. Not sure I will go back.
Service was fantastic (thank you Carrington); food everything we expected, great wine list. So, all good, but the prices are a little toppy.
We love North Italia and try to dine there whenever we are in Austin, Texas!
Food and service were both wonderful. nice assortment on the menu. Street noise will be an issue with any outdoor dining in the Austin downtown area.
First time at the downtown location
It’s better that at the domain
First time. Just moved to downtown area. Delicious food!
This restaurant is amazing! We always bring out-of-town friends here because the vibe is friendly, welcoming, lots of great seating options and the food is fabulous! The chef(s) always know how to add new touches to our favorite dishes! We are big fans of North Italia!
The pizza was so salty it burned the inside of my mouth.
We frequent N Italia and this visit was no disappointment
The service was courteous, the food excellent as usual, and the ambiance pleasant.
Our server was very good - attentive but not hovering. She was knowledgeable about the menu items that we had questions about. Each dish is prepared fresh for you. There is more than just pasta and pizza on the menu here - i.e. salmon, braised short ribs, a couple of chicken dishes, etc.
I have some food allergies and North is a good restaurant for me. Requests and changes are no problem for the excellent kitchen staff.
The restaurant has an open floor plan, floor to ceiling windows, a street side patio, and is on a corner on 2nd Street; it is bright and modern-looking.
Our food was prepared exactly as we ordered and was excellent. My husband loves the salmon dish, and was very happy.
I would have given five stars but three different people ( Who didn’t even wait on us) told us our service dog could not sit on the booth. Our waiter was GREAT and went out of his way to make it a wonderful experience.
North Italia is a easy to like, not fancy, chain Italian restaurant with two locations in Austin. The food is consistently good, however not excellent, with generous portions .
We had a overall great experience. The kitchen had some issues with an overrun of deserts at the same time. It caused us to order two additional Cappuccino's because of the delay so we could have one with our deserts. other wise the food was great and the quality was excellent.
Horrible service! We waited 20 min for water and our first glass of wine. Just simply ignored. Food was good.
We love North. It is our go-to when none of us can agree on anything else, and it delivers a good meal with typically great service. Tonight, our 11 yo daughter wanted “calamari and mussels at North on 2nd” for her birthday dinner. The server was great, chatted just enough, made a big deal of her birthday and was prompt. The house-made pastas are awesome, as are their seafood dishes. Nothing is over the top - we consider it comfort food.
The waitress was super nice and took care of us. She didn’t rush us and wasn’t pushy at all. Great service overall. The food was amazing and our water glasses were never empty. The bathrooms were very clean too. Definitely would recommend.
Love the location and convenience of this restaurant. It our go to when we go to Violet Crown for a movie The charcuterie board is fantastic as well as the thin crust pizza. We find that we order several items and then share. The service was excellent
I've dined here many times and have had many dishes on the menu...never a bad one. The only issue I've consistently had is with the artichoke. It's almost always cold and the heart is mushy.
needs to be better than what we experienced tonight
The scallops at north are my fav with risotto. Could eat this weekly!
Very busy night. Food only warm but tasty. Service a bit slow.
Food is always good. Very busy and active night. Just a little noisy, but we enjoyed the experience.
Took too long to get food on what wasn’t a busy night. They forgot my order which made it longer
Great meal on Wednesday evening. Had a reservation and did not like the table. The hostess quickly and graciously reseated us. Food and drinks were very good.
Love the ambience, service and food there. I recommend it for casual lunches, dinners and happy hours.
Food was fresh. Service was sub par. Parking was an issue. They don’t validate parking.
Great place to eat before an acl moody performance. Ray our waiter was outstanding. Had the bruschetta, seasonal vegetable salad, short rib with pasta and a Cabernet. I’d recommend making reservations.
My second time to this North... once for dinner several months ago and yesterday for lunch. Food was unremarkable in both occasions. Very nice place, but food does not measure up to expectations.
Great atmosphere and food & wine selection. Upscale dining but also a causal environment. Great date spot if you want to talk and enjoy a great meal.
