Never knew about this restaurant for a quick lunch. Fantastic service and great ambiance. Would recommend to anyone working downtown for a place to go for some good food!
We enjoyed several small plates! The pork belly sliders, jumbo lump crab 🦀 cake and selection of artisanal cheeses, candied walnuts, apples, warm bread & fig jam were good. They have a extensive beer and wine menu. Save room for the profiteroles for dessert! We were surprised that a 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill! 🍽
We got the valentines special which was very expensive for what we got. Main entrees were tiny and not that good.
The food was delicious and unique! Our server Brittany was knowledgeable, pleasant and attentive. My husband has French Onion soup every restaurant he can find it offered, he said Normandy was the best he’s had. Everyone raves about the crab cakes and walleye. We completely agree. We would add the French onion soup and Brussel sprouts to dishes that are wonderful. If you park in the Best Western parking lot they validate the ticket. This restaurant and food are really special. I can’t wait to go back.
The staff is very friendly and fun. It was a perfect setting for our group. I don’t know why there weren’t more people dining there. The food and cocktails were really good! Dining room has a great feel. Very comfortable.
Wonderful leisurely lunch. Wide range of food choices. French onion soup, bread, and beet salad outstanding. Outstanding service.
Very accommodating wait staff. Excellent steak.
We stayed at the Normandy Inn to attend a gopher hockey game. We decided to eat at the hotel and we were not disappointed. We had excellent food and delivered quit fast. We enjoyed the bar also before dinner, excellent setting with views out beautiful windows. We definitely would stay and eat at the Normandy again.
Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities. The food at the Normandy is consistent and the ambiance is great. I love the open windows in the summer months and the occasional live music. This place is a gem!
The popovers are worth their price along with all the reasonably priced entrees. Cozy decor with an old world feel.
We celebrated my mother's 60th birthday here as a family. It was a really nice place to eat! The food was good, and it was actually quiet enough that we could hear each other talk.
Everything was good (drinks, appetizer, salad & entrees) but when ordering dessert (ice cream), the description on the menu said that the caramel sauce was served on the side. It was delivered with a little caramel sauce on the top, no side. We asked for a small side of the caramel sauce, and later noticed that we had been charged for it . Our server did not tell us there would be an extra charge. We did not want to squabble over this so we paid for it. Nevertheless, it was very disappointing. I also ordered a regular cup of coffee but was never asked if I wanted a refill. I was reluctant to ask for a refill after the extra charge was discovered on the bill.
Food was excellent. We went after football game and they did not have enough wait staff to accommodate the wave of people coming from the game. Three tables of people got up and left. We waited 10 minutes before a waitress came over to take our drink orders. She was very pleasant and took good care of us.
Good food fine ambiance, a little pricey for my tastes. Excellent service.
They made us wait 20 minutes for our reservation in a half-empty restaurant. They said they were down one waitress but the service was slow from start to finish. The martini was bad and food was mediocre. The restaurant in the first floor of a hotel is a charming, cozy atmosphere, but that's the best I can say about the experience.
As always the food that was offered for Thanksgiving was outstanding with excellent flavor.
We eat here every Thanksgiving and have yet to be disappointed!!!
My guest and I were very disappointed. We went for the Thanksgiving dinner. The portions were small and overpriced. It was served family style. The dressing was more like dried bread crumbs. We received 2 small slices of ham and 2 small slices of white meat turkey. There were a few bits of dark meat turkey on the plate also. The popovers were overcooked and dry and the small pat of butter we received for the 2 popovers was not enough for 1 let alone 2. The waiter suggested pecan pie for dessert. It was so sticky it stuck to my teeth. I had to go home and brush my teeth to stop them from sticking together. I will not be going back there.
I really like this place. It's very European in that the portions aren't huge and the service is laid back. I especially like that you can have a decent pot of tea.
Had a surprisingly good meal with terrific service and great value - all in one. A hidden gem for sure.
Not what you expect from a city hotel restaurant in a Best Western.
Will definitely go backw
Comfort food with a French influence. Calamari ("veg-free!") with aioli and marinara was crispy and tender. Both the Duck 3-ways and Steak au Poivre entrees were great. Poached beet salad with chevre, walnuts & fig vinaigrette was nicely assembled, and the salad nicoise was substantial. We dined on Jazz Night - Travis Anderson Trio played. Very enjoyable evening.
This place is always a pleasant stop. Don’t be dissuaded by the fact that it’s attached to a Best Western - it has a LOT of history. Food is satisfying and from scratch. Good cocktails, AND best of all, popovers, which are a great treat anytime. Parking is easy in the hotel lot on the back side. (Bring your ticket in to get it validated...)
Our server was outstanding with a great personality. The space was kitschy, warm and inviting. The food was good to excellent between the four of us. Popover and meatloaf were amazing!
Good memories from family gatherings in the 1960’s. Popovers are still a treat. Wonderful choice of music, relaxing.
Typical French bistro menu with small tables and lively bar scene. Service was friendly but slow and mostly inattentive. Steak frites arrived with almost cold meat and overly salted frites that made them inedible. Steak was sent back to be warmed but with backward glare from waitress. Really?... Meatloaf was okay. Calamari were also overly salted. Shrimp cocktail flavorful and nicely chilled. Cheese platter had good selection of 5 cheeses, 3 U.S.and 2 French with okay accompanimentsof jams and walnuts. Espresso was weak and tepid.
Expensive evening, and would not recommend overall.
Frankly, this place was a disappointment. The servings were good sized, but average in color, taste and presentation. It was an unusually busy night for a Monday, and only 2 servers had to cover both rooms, so half the meal was spent waiting for food, and trying to contact the waitress.
Great service and great food! Loved the atmosphere! Very quiet and relaxing. A little pricy but worth it!!
Absolutely wonderful! I haven’t been amazed by a restaurant for a while. But the service and chefs at Normandy Kitchen wowed me. Doug, the bartender, was my server. I made a late lunch reservation. He was helpful, friendly, and real. He made a recommendation for the appetizer that was spot on. I came to try out the Restaurant Week menu. I hadn’t been there before and wouldn’t have gone except for Restaurant Week. The salad was deliciously savory, and I don’t even like salads. I had duck for the first time and have fallen in love. My husband always orders duck, so I can’t wait to bring him back to try it. I have a lot of friends who work downtown and I’m spreading the word. I took my time to enjoy every bite. Thank you for a very memorable meal.
I was extremely impressed by the quality of the ingredients and the overall presentation. A real gem and it’s not surprising it’s been in business since 1941.
Ordered the duck which was excellent but my wife got talked into the Henry 8th burger it was awful!
The Normandy isn't close to us, but we make the effort for special occasions. It's the perfect atmosphere for a romantic meal. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. The service is always wonderful. Be sure to try the Popovers!
