nopa - San Francisco
As always, everything at NOPA is just too good to be true. Our waiter, Gordon, was the highlight of this particular experience - his knowledge, passion for the restaurant, and service was amazing.
Amazing food, thoughtful knowledgeable waitstaff who made fantastic recommendations.
The lamb angelotti was good, however both the burger and the fish stew were overcooked. We ordered the burger med-rare and it was definitely on the other side of medium. The fish stew took nearly an hour to come out and was so over-done that the shells crumbled when we tried to get to the mussels inside. It felt like they forgot it in the back of the oven and it was pretty upsetting for $32.
Went here for a birthday dinner. As always, food, drink, and service was top notch.
Food was good, especially smoked trout salad—crunchy quinoa and plenty of fish, nice balance of texture and flavors. Noise level was painfully loud; literally got a sore throat from yelling at my dinner partner.
Everything is great and pork chop was amazing.
Burger was dry and over cooked. Service was slow. Two eggs for $19...
My daughter’s birthday
We had a wonderful experience for our anniversary dinner! The service was fantastic and very accommodating for our dietary restrictions. The food was unbelievable and even amazing when we reheated then for leftovers! Thoroughly impressed and will be back again!
Thank you for always being so constantly fantastic. From the bar to the table everyone feels well cared for. No snotty attitudes just professionalism. Food and wine is terrific and well chosen.
Entrees took almost an hour. Although we were warned by our server that they would take at least 45 mins so we should order appetizers.
Ben was great. All staff very attentive and good at their jobs.
A great experience! The service was super nice and the food tasty! :)
Food we had was very good on a NYE night out (crab special, pork chops, rotisserie chicken), great service, nice buzz from the restaurant, good wines, top class all round.
Wonderful New Years Eve dinner. We were seated immediately upon arrival. It was a great evening with great food and service.
Food was amazing. Excellent service and ambiance. Would come back soon.
Food was delicious. Very creative with ingredients one might not think to pair that worked so well. The smoked brisket appetizer was cooked to perfection - the Brussel sprouts so so good with creme fraiche and a suggestion of persimmon, the mushroom toast just wonderful. I had the duck breast - with pear - every bite scrumptious (although the black beans on the bed of the plate added nothing for me - so I just let them be part of the beauty of the plating). My adult dining partner had the fish stew - also scrumptious. My teen dining partner was less daring and had the pappardelle bolognese and it was yummy and the sauce was the best I've tasted. We had cardamon ice cream and I savored every melting spoonful. They were out of the chocolate cake and also the apple tart. I can't wait to try the. Hard to get a table. Go early or go late if it's for food. For the drinks and the bar which also is known for its cocktails and selections go anytime. Definitely on my personal best of SF list.
Went to Sunday brunch for my wife's birthday. Incredible food and service as always. The custard french toast is a must. Thanks, Larry and crew. You've outdone yourself again!
Wonderful food and service for a pre-Christmas brunch with my special guy. We will definitely be back!
Dinner with friends
Went there for my birthday celebration, it was packed and busy even at 9.30pm. Food was really good, truly enjoyed my duck leg. Good for friends to hang out and enjoy a good meal.
Never been disappointed every time we’ve been here.
Excelent food and wines, good ambient
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed brunch at Nopa. The staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable about menu items all of which exceeded our expectations. We began with The Summit, a fruity grapefruit flavored drink that was perfect with our menu choices. The celebrated French toast was as delicious as mentioned in reviews and a good idea to split as it is quite filling. If you are expecting the usual fare at brunches such as Benedict’s, pancakes, etc you will be disappointed. We, however, were pleasantly surprised at the refreshing brunch menu.
I think NOPA is no longer the gem it once was. It’s too bad I missed it in its heyday.
Great food. Best duck ever
Went based on a recommendation. Was a little worried the place had been hyped a bit too much.
Was not disappointed. Cocktails were great. Meal was very good, as was the service.
The food was absolutely amazing...we covered everything...Appetizers, main courses and desert. We ordered multiple dishes and shared with the entire table. Highly recommend so you can sample a little of everything.
Favorite restaurant in the city... the best cocktail I’ve ever had is the cottonmouth. A must visit, however I would recommend not getting the burger- it’s pretty average.
Nopa is a neighborhood treasure and the gold standard for comfortable yet posh dining
Lovely atmosphere, with excellent food and staff. We had really great service, and I'll definitely go back. Get the cheesecake for dessert! YUM.
One thing to note, if you're sensitive to lighting like I am: they have very bright lights that shine directly on you and your table. (I literally wished I had a hat to wear, and we even moved tables and it was still bad) I found it very distracting, and wished that they had better ambient lighting. That's my 2 cents on that. Otherwise the balance of the experience was great!
I came with my fiance to celebrate our anniversary and the staff seated us early which is always nice. We had just ordered a drink from the bar and they made no fuss about transferring the drinks to our table. The wait staff was very attentive and the food was absolutely delicious. At the end they game us a bit of free dessert with a candle and wished us a happy anniversary. Overall a wonderful experience.
Great service and friendly staff. Food served quickly. Food was fresh, tasty and pleasing to the eye. Hamburger could have been larger. Brunch selections were fair. Would have liked to have pork chop and chicken selection option.
2nd time and couldn't wait to have the pork chop again. It didn't disappoint. It is amazing. Also, the brussel sprouts were really good. As were the drinks. Unfortunately, the other dishes weren't as impressive. We tried the hamburger, supposedly one of the best int he city, wasn't that good. Too fat, hard to eat, and not too tasty. The fries were really good. The parpardelle was pretty one dimensional. The brownie dessert was good but pretty burnt. Our coffee was delivered cold. I would definitely return for the port chop but it will probably be awhile.
I came here for the first time for my anniversary two nights ago. It was a great experience. The restaurant was super busy and a bit noisy, but we were seated upstairs where we could people watch to our heart’s content. As for the food, the appetizers were delicious and the entrees were exquisite. Plus the service was good with attentive wait staff. I would definitely come here again! Note: we had to make reservations a month in advance so this place gets booked quickly!
My friends and I had a terrific time. We relished the flavors and composition of all the dishes, which, in addition to being creative were deeply satisfying. The service was friendly, informed, attentive without being intrusive. NOPA deserves all the accolades it continues to receive! Go. You'll experience some of the best cooking in San Francisco... (cocktails were great, too.)
Delicious brunch again, on my second brunch outing here. Starter scone, divine. Baked egg, same. And really friendly staff. The noise level is pretty robust, but I found it energizing rather than overwhelming.
The food was lovely; well balanced and flavorful. The service was absolutely outstanding! The only negative I have was the noise level; it was challenging to have conversation and would probably not be good for a romantic first date. The wine by the glass was limited and very expensive. Overall Nopa was really fun! Ohhh...and the desserts...yum!!
