I used to *love* going to Nopa, so when I had a hankering for the pork chop and looked on open table and found an 8pm res, I was thrilled. The last time my partner and I went, it wasn't as good as it had been, but I thought maybe we were just there on an off night. Unfortunately, last night confirmed that it has slipped. We love the gigante beans, and while the flavor was good, the beans themselves were a little on the soggy side. I was excited for the pork chop, but it has lost its subtlety and was more like a huge hunk of meat slathered in sauce. My boyfriend couldn't find anything he wanted to eat on the menu so got a vegetarian eggplant dish, which was good, not great. Our dining companion got the special Sunday chicken. Like the pork chop, the portion was huge, but ultimately the dish itself was a little disappointing. The chicken had great flavor, but the meat itself (esp the breast) was on the dry side (and for me, the only reason to order chicken at a restaurant is that they are generally better equipped/able to keep the meat juicy). I would say the standout was the carrot and cauliflower soup, which I'd not seen before, but which was delicious - creamy without being overly creamed, the sweetness of the carrot blending beautifully with the sweetness of the garlic, and heat from some strategically included chili. The drinks were good, and the service was very, very good. Our server was handling a lot of tables, and she was attentive, but we didn't see her as often as we might have liked. We asked for the drinks menu, but after about five minutes of waiting, we just looked it up on our phones and were ready to order our next round by the time she was able to get to our table to deliver the menu. Two disappointing outings in a row means that we are unlikely to return, in spite of the great service and ambience. The food just isn't as special as it used to be.

Food was good, very loud space, however. Seems to be very family oriented; good for families!

I’ve eaten at Nopa many times over the past 10 years and it never disappoints. This time was no different. The service was attentive and food was excellent. I love that the menu rotates and incorporates seasonal produce. We ordered the stratiacella appetizer, salad, lamb riblets, the pork chop with grilled stone fruit, and a peach cobbler and every dish was delicious.

The place was hopping on a Tuesday night. Service was outstanding. Must have dishes: 1. Smoked Trout Panzanella— sheer perfection. The “bread” in the salad are actually crouton chips so I recommend a side order of their insanely delicious bread. 2. Stracciatella was a beautiful balance of sweet peach and the creamy cheese. 3. And we loved loved Yaya’s fried chicken with its bright flavors and juicy meat. 4. The Tagliatella was good, but the other three outshined it.

We were only in SF for two nights, and had made no plans. A friends said we should try to go to Nopa, and I am so glad we were able to grab a 9pm reservation for the next night! The drinks were creative, wine nice, and the food was honestly perfect. We were in town during Stone Fruit season, and all of the dishes highlighted the seasonal produce beautifully. Would return any time I am in town, and I will certainly recommend it to others.

I happened to discover this place while looking up restaurants on Divisadero, and I’m surprised I hadn’t heard of it before. The food was incredibly delicious, and the drinks were excellent. I’ll definitely be coming back!

One of the few restaurants in SF open after 10:00 PM and excellent on all fronts. Highly recommend- especially if you’re hungry after your theater or symphony outing!
