We went to Nopa before a Caps game. The food was super. One of had salmon. Two had short ribs and one a burger. The entrees were all delicious. The rolls are to die for!
Our waiter was fun and right on the spot. It a great destination in Penn Quarter.
Nopa is an ideal place for a business lunch. Service is highly professional and attentive. The ambiance is pleasant but relatively quiet. the menu is interesting and entrees are delicious. Pricing is reasonable. This is my "go to" business lunch venue.
Service was friendly, but not intrusive, and the food was fresh, seasoned to perfection, and prepared masterfully. The nopa burger was outstanding, and the sea bass congee exceeded my expectations.
We enjoyed a delicious meal to celebrate our anniversary. The space is quiet, up the stairs from street level with a view of the portrait gallery. Our server was attentive and helpful. The food was terrific. The location is perfect for an after dinner walk along the mall.
This is a great place for an early dinner before a sporting event at capital one arena. We got there when it opened at five. They were very welcoming and we had great service. This was a return visit for me, but a first time for my friend. Great table by a window and we loved our food. Thanks to our waiter we got the octopus appetizer and it was so good-really tender. Short ribs and gnocchi also excellent. A great experience! We will be back.
Good food, great service.
Good food , large portions
Terrific experience, very friendly and accommodating bartenders. Excellent food with sensible, tasteful portions, selection of ingredients and presentation. We walked in randomly for a quick drink and were pleasantly surprised, stayed for lunch, came back for dinner, then back again the very next day for a last lunch bite before heading back out of town. Highly recommended!
We were pleasantly welcomed to a lovely modern decor and friendly receptionist who took us to a roomy table at the window--our hoped-for. Wish I'd gotten the lovely young waitress' name to comment her, as she was considerate, friendly, eager to help, and attentive.
I always enjoy this quiet, sophisticated restaurant. Our server was lovely and knowledgeable. The meal was yummy and it is quiet enough for a personal catch up dinner
Eduardo and the entire NOPA team were amazing as always! Food was exceptional, service was impeccable. I’m a huge fan of the ever changing menu, erythema deviled eggs.
This is a great Peruvian restaurant which happened to be two blocks from the hotel where we were staying. We didn't arrive until around 10 PM, so it was quiet but the staff was interested in going home. The meals were wonderful, my wife had a tomato gnocci and I had the braised beef short rib, and we both thought are meals were delicious. The service was impeccable, and it was nice to have a quiet atmosphere.
Been awhile since I have been to this favorite of mine, and the usual combo of a nice setting, good and quick service was there. BUT the gem of the lunch was the (for me) new ramen bowl. I've always wanted to see more light dishes on the menu, and this one was both delicious and very light.
First time at Nopa -- but it wont be our last. Food was delicious and decently priced. We were a group of four and we shared appetizers and main dishes because we all wanted to try everything. Special props to the brussel sprouts, tuna tartare and short ribs.
Retro, eclectic decor with brick wall divided spaces & although it’s not my favorite look, it did feel kind of cozy, casual and comfortable. The food was very good. We went for dinner during restaurant week. Three courses, more than enough food. We chose Beef Coulette Steak with Bearnaise sauce and the other was the Braised Beef Short Rib. Both came with delicious sides beautifully plated. We particularly loved the rosemary biscuits they serve, best ever!!
Excellent restaurant week menu, with selections from the entire entree menu possible. Attentive and cordial service from our server, Colletta. And, in contrast to many DC restaurants, possible to hold a conversation without shouting. Overall, a fine dining experience in a well located restaurant.
Consistently good food and service
Went for the DC restaurant week menu, 3 course dinner. Especially liked that we were able to chose our entree from the regular dinner menu. Food was very flavorful with a beautiful presentation. The chicken was tender and juicy and the beef short ribs were cooked to perfection and fell apart with a fork.
the best of summer produce combined with the chef's creativity for a wonderful presentation led to a truly yummy experience. We were there for the prix fixe occasion of tomatoes and peaches. Go with a friend who loves to share and you'll get tastes of all the offerings. While I won't create the tastes of NoPa's chef, the watermelon gazpacho and tomato-peach dessert tart on my to-do list before the summer's produce run out. The staff's friendly and dedicated attention to detail gave us a very calm evening meal. And access via metro makes NoPa a terrific weekday evening time with friends.
Service was very attentive, but some dishes were overpriced. The overall taste of the food was just good, making the cost seem even higher than it was.
Great night catching up with family. Loved the menu and the food preparation and service was excellent. They really excelled at helping to accommodate food allergies. Very appreciated. Lovely night.
Great place and good food with excellent service. We were there for brunch after visiting National Portrait Gallery and it was a perfect brunch.
Was able to have wonderful business social conversation! Food and atmosphere wonderful!
We wanted to find a brunch before a Sunday movie and read good reviews of NoPa. The menu is somewhat limited but what they serve is excellent. We were eating on the early side, so the restaurant was not crowded, but the setup seems good to allow a reasonable conversation, something we very much appreciate. And the service was very good, attentive without hovering. This is definitely on our list for future times.
Jon J was my server . He was excellent! He suggested items , which all sounded wonderful. I ended up getting the beef tartar. It was amazing. Jon also gave me wine recommendations & had me try a beautiful Chilean rose . I’ll definitely be back
NoPa Kitchen & Bar, located across the street from the National Portrait Gallery and just a block away from the Capital One Center in DC's Penn Quarter, is a terrific restaurant choice for both locals and tourists visiting any of the numerous cultural and event venues in the neighborhood. The menu offers numerous choices and creative cuisine. Happily, the kitchen delivers delicious dishes, prepared as ordered. Service is both friendly and attentive.
One of the best meals I’ve had ever from start to finish.
Train the staff to better deal with allergies. Thank you!
The setting is nice and location is good. The service was attentive but too attentive if you wanted to talk with your dinner guests for more than five minutes uninterrupted. I also did not appreciate being told my meal was "good" by the server when I said it was "Ok."
Wonderful service with well prepared dishes. The ambience is great for a quiet and relaxing meal.
The ambience was the main reason that I came to this restaurant. It was upscale, romantic but unpretentious. The food was great, my date and I truly enjoyed the mussel bowl, and were even more impressed by the seabass. The waiters were friendly and attentive.
I'd recommend the restaurant to serve fresh bread. I expect a high quality restartant to start off the courses by having fresh warm bread with desired texture. The bread that was served smelled amazing but was lacking the desired texture. It was not soft and almost feel like stale bread.
NoPa has become one of my favorite places to eat, for the combination of really friendly, great service, location, price, and a menu that is reliably excellent -- reliable even though it is a changing and interesting assortment of appetizers, mains, and desserts. The mussel pot with lobster and chorizo was incredible; the skin on the salmon was amazing; wine recommendations were perfect. No room for dessert!
I’ve lived in DC for 6 years and always seen but never tried NoPa. I was very impressed. The flavors were unique and the combinations of meat, vegetable, and sauce were interesting and flavorful. Service was attentive and comfortable vibe.
We were early for our reservation. Menus and wine lists could be update as they were well used. Drinks were as ordered and nicely done. Shared the deviled eggs - very good. Had the Salmon and steak and pom frites. cooked perfectly. Nice dinner. Paced nicely. Would go back.
The lunch menu was good, but the real standout was the dessert.
The dessert was the star of the menu, my wife and I loved the poached peaches with peach ice cream.
Well-executed food, delivered by friendly and helpful servers. A strong wine list, and good selection of cocktails. The salmon, steak frites and cauliflower with hummous dinners were all expertly done, and the cookie plate was an easy-to-share dessert for four. Beware the sage buns: they're flaky, but quite filling.
Service was absolutely wonderful, and our group had the best time. Servers did a great job of not making our party feel rushed. Food and drinks were absolutely delicious, and such a great atmosphere!
Went to NoPa to celebrate my wife’s retirement along with two of our sons and their wives. Chose this spot because the menu addressed our needs to serve two vegetarians, a pescatarian and three omnivores. From drinks through our vast array of entrees, NoPa did not disappoint. Even our assortment of cookies and chocolate cake deserts were memorable.
First time. Pre-theater dinner. A hit it was great.
Stumbled upon Nopa while searching for a restaurant within a block from Sidney Harmon Hall for a pre-theatre meal. So very happy to have had the opportunity to dine here. Wonderful environment, great service and delicious food options. I look forward to coming again and will most definitely recommend to friends.
